It has been a busy couple of days for the Mavericks.  They went to Chattanooga Saturday and won the Scenic City 7v7 .  I didn't get to make it ,but I heard they competed well against teams from 5 states.  Walker Martinez put on a show and got some attention from the UTC coaching staff I heard.  He has a lot of targets with Vowell, Terry, Russell, Miller, Shannon, and Phillips.  The RB's, Noe and Moog were impressive out of the back field as well.  I made it over to Farragut today to watch the Mavs go with the Admirals, TKA and Central.  I can report that the Mavericks had another great day.  I sat with some Farragut fans, and they were very impressed with the passing game displayed by the Mavericks.  Coach Gillum was in Regular season coaching mode calling plays and it seemed as though the Mavs moved the ball extremely well. I don't like the format where you bring the ball back to the LOS every-time, but it was what they did. It really just gave AC room to expand the zones and throw it in windows.   Farragut has a ton of kids, as did Central, and both had good days. The thing I noticed today was the defense.  The LB's are big and athletic, and the secondary for the Mavericks was on point today throughout the entire scrimmage. Corners aren't big, but played very aggressive and made receivers work to even get open, and separated the ball from the receiver on more than a few plays. Look for Farragut and Central to have a good year. They have athletes and good coaches.  TKA looked super young to me, may not have had all of their players.

I’ll be following AC. Hopefully the Dragons will make big improvements this year. I feel what’s going to hurt AC is the team speed and young up front and not deep. Kicking game is taking a huge step back. I could see AC RB getting frustrated because the running lanes are not going to be like last year. Good luck AC!

  2. Loosing the starting tackles and guards 54, 58, 55, 52 on the offensive line is going to really hurt AC. They played most of the year without injury.  QB is not a runner so he is going to get pressured  a lot this year.

  3. Wow, just like AC to talk crap before the season and before game. This is 4 years in a row Greeneville put you all out. I say the coaches are Second-guessing after they put a average at best 15-year-old back at quarterback and bench the senior in Hatmaker (Clinton Kid). no wonder y’all stayed in for 4a you love that easy schedule. AC coaches are best known for losing early in the playoffs. Why did they bench Hatmaker after SD game? It was the defense that got pushed around like in the game last night.

I understand that. I think now that AC has more consistent program this likely will happen sometime in near future. AC does not have the solid history and headstart like most other programs. Clinton has a good history and of course Oak Ridge history.

Who knows what will happen next year.

AC could possibly have the best team they have ever had as far as balance. But Powell will have had the advantage of seeing AC play and another week to prepare. The Defense did well last year but ran out of gas. The offence did well but ran out of plays last year. This will definitely be a game to see. But we have to get by Clinton which is adding some tricky, dimensions.

AC will be tough for us this Friday but I don't see this being the best AC team. I hear the scouting report shows  AC lost there top RB and WR from last year that was over 80% of the offense plus there offensive line. This AC team has a lot of players that really didn't do much on offense a year ago but the QB. I could see AC defense doing better than the offense this year. Clinton lost a lot last year so we are down I just want to see some fight out of this young Clinton team

Let's get ready to Rumble for That magnificent Bridge! Both Teams want it but only one Great team will be able to walk away with it. The question is who wants it the Most! :hungry:

I don't think they are playing for the bridge anymore. It was not at last year's game.

I've said it over and over and over...we HAVE to live with this! We can't hide from it. If we all bunker down, it will still be there when we come out. It's going to run its course like every virus does. I'll take my chances with a 99.7% to 99.9% survival rate every single time. I have much more of chance to die from any number of other illnesses/diseases/accidents/health-related issues. Those that are at risk or elderly should probably quarantine and stay socially distant for longer, however the rest of us should live life without fear! Take proper precautions obviously, but go on with life and not bow down to the panic and fear. It's ignorant to do so.

I’m starting to agree with you. Numbers are getting better although it is real it’s not going nowhere. So might as well live life .   I watched some practice tonight and I cant wait to see our new coach first game. I myself was convinced that they would shut it down but Gov Lee stood his ground

Yet another horrendously bad take! What proof is there that temporary physical contact affects anything?! That is such a lazy, illogical comment. Sadly, many people out there actually believe this, which is a massive myth. The proof is that it takes 10 to 15 minutes of prolonged activity with someone to transfer this virus. Secondly, your comment about "a stadium full of fans" is ridiculous and pure propaganda. The TSSAA has already announced 1/3 or 1/4 of the total stadium capacity at each school, so this is an outright lie and an obvious attempt to stir the pot even more. Not that you care about the facts or truth at all...one can simply read through all your nonsensical, nonstop, fear and panic posts.

Okay, Dr Phill...lol With you crying this much already I hate to see you in two weeks. I really want football to be played but saying it won’t make it happen. I really can’t see high school football playing with all other sports shut down.

That is one of the dumbest takes I've ever seen on anything! Keep kids in schools but not sports?! What the #$@$??? The virus is so contagious and kids can be carriers, but they are good to go to school with other people but not good to play sports with other people?! Sure. Makes total sense. I think this is a prime example of people losing their minds and not even realizing what they are saying anymore.

They can keep kids away from each other in school a lot better than they can swapping sweat on each tackle.  Or a stadium full of fans not following rules. Kids need to learn online or in class. Football can wait till this covid crap is over. You will see in two weeks.

Now look up the Swine Flu numbers. HINT: Six times as many kids died from Swine Flu, sadly. Did we have all these rules, cancellations, mandates and shutdowns for it??

Kids can just be carrier’s. If they cancel SEC and the power 5 conferences they are little hope for sports in high school.  We just need to focus on keeping kids in school not sports. Two weeks away from season being cancelled for HS.
