What district and region is Warren County in?  If all that is true it will be a tough job to fill.   all the talk on girls side is the Rockvale job and who has interviewed already.  Sounds as if it is Chad Hibson job if he wants it.

I think They are 9-4a but could be wrong

Rockvale and Warren County jobs have opened up.  Rockvale job will probably go after Chad Hinson is the word at the tournament.  Who wants Warren job?

The WC job is going to be a tough one to fill.. hard nose dive last year and it was evident the coach had no clue what she was actually doing. Some decent talent on the roster but the local politics and the fan base are unrealistic. Also hearing a couple of players have considered moving into other school systems. Might be a long long rebuild and someone will have to be in it for the long run

  3. White Co has consistently had one of the best rosters in the state regardless of class, it’s a shame that the staff has failed to capitalize year after year. The squad they had this year was legit, and they had plenty of kids to rotate in. No way they shouldn’t have been stacking chips..

  4. Finally got a chance to see the Warren girls play last night, and had heard about all of the drama in the program with the new coach, and boy is she out of her element. No adjustments, no strategy and let Dekalb hit 10 or 12 threes before pulling out of a 2-3 zone. After switching to man it didn’t get much better.. complete breakdown in fundamentals and it starts at the top.

I’ve never seen anything quite like it, she probably played 12 kids last night for spurts, killing momentum multiple times. At one point she subbed out her big who had 7 straight points, and subbed her back in way later killing her rhythm. She did this multiple times, after kids would hit a big shot or be in a groove they would sit. There is no offensive scheme that I seen, they just recklessly drive up the court and outside of a couple players, they seem completely lost on offense and defense.

They will be lucky to win 5 games this year and that’s being generous. Also heard the director of schools is intervening due to the enormous amount of complaints coming in from the players and their families. Couple that with the suspicious dismissal of the Winfree girl, I dont see how Stotts makes it out of her first year as a high school coach.

Hard to believe that a 20+ win team can fall this far in a matter of months. They lost a lot of kids last year, but had decent talent this year coming back and from the feeder schools. I know the hiring of Stotts also was shrouded in drama.. Warren messed this one up like they always seem to do.

Stotts would make the most sense at this point, since she knows what she has sent up to the high school, but she isn't the "name" that they are desperately searching for... I have heard great things about Hobbs, but I am not sure that this deep dig to try and find a "name" is his doings. He has been around for a long time and I think he gets that the program is not one of the top tier programs in the state that would draw that "name" that they are wanting so bad. Just seems like they are wasting a lot of valuable time to get a new coach in to hold spring practice, get the summer calendar set, etc... Digging a bigger hole is what it looks like and pushing the program backwards for sure...

I dont disagree, I’ve watched her Middle School team over the past couple of years and they are always competitive even in losses. That, and most of the players that will be left will be a lot of the kids she’s had in her tenure. I think that WC is a little gunshy due to the success of coaches transitioning from MS to HS there have been iffy.. Sullens did well, Panter did not. It goes back further than that, those are just the two that stick out.

The bigger concern imo is the timing, most programs have set tryouts, camps, practice schedules etc and this is going to put this team significantly behind if they don’t get a move on. This hire should have been made 2 months ago when the writing was on the wall. Everyone that watched them play knows that Lippe had no intentions in coming back based on his lack of development of the younger group.. he rode out the talent that was there to make him look good and knew that there would be a major step back this next year and his ego most likely couldn’t support that kinda blow.

    Just my 2 cents

Seems as though WC is willing to hire anyone with a pulse for the job to avoid hiring the current ms coach Stotts.

And how does someone get the scoop that Lippe has been promoted to AD and doesn’t know who Bud Brandon is? Especially since he’s literally helping with the current high school boys WC Elite aau program. IYKYK

If you’re referring to me you have me confused with someone else.. I have no affiliation with WC, the program or their travel program (they don’t play AAU, they play travel there is a major difference).

I got the “scoop” about Lippe from social media, particularly the local media outlets confirmed that an announcement about Lippe would be made at some point in the future and the speculation is that he is taking the AD role since the current AD is moving into another role to backfill another position. I’m simply a fan who has enjoyed watching the team grow, and has a vested interest in watching them continue to improve.

I am not, and have never been a coach so I have no clue who most of the names are that have been named are, outside of a few local folks like Slatton and Stotts. So when names are dropped, I search them on here and google to find out who they are.

I have, however, known Mr. Hobbs for a very long time and I am confident that he will do what is right for the program, so if that means he continues his search to find the best potential candidate for the job. At the end of the day, he is proud of his community and wants to do his part to make the community proud.

Heard there is a new front runner for this spot. He interviewed today according to the word on the street... Bud Brandon...

What’s this guys background? Is he the one that was at cannon a few years back and at Smyrna as well?

  8. Still not been filled from what I’ve heard. McMurtry has applied and I would imagine he’s the front runner for the job.

As far as what Lippe managed to accomplish, he took over a team that had no JV team, no freshman team and went from 2 wins to 20* 2 years in a row.. I’ll say the girls he had were mostly responsible for the success, and the girls remaining have a long road ahead of them. They are returning 1 starter and 2 others with varsity experience.. he didn’t trust anyone outside of the starting 5 and it was evident in the development of the younger kids. There is some decent talent coming up but WCs county school setup is challenging and it will take those kids a season or more to jive. They will be very young this year, but they have some decent size and talent retuning so the right coach can build around them.

  9. Hearing this AM that Anthony Lippe was promoted to the AD position in WC.. had a great run for the 4 years he was there and definitely left the job better than it was when he got it.

No news of a potential replacement, not a lot of coaching talent within the county my guess is someone comes from outside. Maybe they hit a home run like they did for the boys job last year?

The wins in Florida were not as impressive as the Sonic Shootout IMO.  The bracket they were in didn’t help them much.  But they won convincingly so they did what they were supposed to.   I have stated many times on here that I love the way they play.  They are good enough to beat any team on their schedule (including CC).  And they will be dangerous in post season.  If you want to know why they are doing so well…..just go by the gym on Sunday.

100% agree on why the team has improved.. they have consistently worked to get better through practice, private sessions/group sessions with Legacy.. if you follow him on socials the girls from WC are constantly working to get better. The scary part about them is they are young, only 3 or 4 seniors on the team so they will continue to improve. It’s been fun watching area basketball and see this team improve.

  11. Coach G really has her girls firing on all cylinders right now. This team is athletic, talented and hungry. This team has depth and great coaching, they could easily make a deep run into state this year. I’ve watched a lot of these kids through the local AAU programs and they have continued to grow every time I have watched them play. Exciting things happening in the UC!

  12. Warren has played very well in December and into the new year… they went 3-0 in Tampa and won their bracket with little effort. I think WC can beat Coffee in one of the matchups this year if they continue to play the way they have. WC’s biggest weakness is Coffee’s strength this year so if they can figure out that piece they can hang. I did hear from a trainer that works out a lot of the WC girls that the talented freshman post for WC is expecting to make a full return this week, she has been hampered by an ankle issue stemming from back in AAU that has kept her on the sidelines for much of the season and has only played in small spurts as she continues to rehab. Regardless I think WC finishes this season in second, and at best is 1-2 against CC.

  13. Honestly…Coffee is equal if not a little better than White. Strong post play but the back court is not as good as White. Warren struggles to defend down low with the lack of size. They have a few players out due to injury but the Gannon girls from Coffee are tough. Still think Coffee beats WC by 10-12 but this team had taken leaps and strides… it’s been 8 years since Warren beat White…It’s a testament to the work these ladies put in during the off season. The best part from Warren is that all of the playmakers are junior class and below, they can only get better.

Warren Co has had their summer days reduced to 5 because they were using an illegal coach for AAU. How can you not know the rules smh. Our ladies get punished because our staff  does not know the rules, totally unacceptable. White Co has the same thing headed their way, Stiles dad has been coaching their aau program at White Co just like Ryan Smith was coaching ours, both of these are totally illegal and now our girls have to suffer.

How is this a violation? Ryan Smith has no ties to the WC program last I had heard. Thought he was coaching at a private school in WC???

Do you have any further insight?

hearing rumors going around that two starters are leaving the wc program at schools end.  If this holds true it’s a major loss for Lippe

One of the private schools in WC has been recruiting a lot of the high school players, and thus far only one has transferred to my knowledge. Also hearing the standout middle school player from WC is supposedly going there as well but from my understanding it’s nothing more than a rumor. Guess we shall see what ends up happening... it’d be a shame for WC to end up losing any more talent given how far the program has come in the past year.

  16. I think Lippe has done a great job instilling a great work ethic into the WC girls...they are constantly working to get better and understand why many of them left to go to the AAU program in Cookeville...higher levels of competition and better tournaments force you to either adapt and get better or fail. That being said, I hope you’re right... not sure how long it’s been since WC has beat CC girls but it’s been quite some time. That youth core can do some special things if they keep on working. I seen three of the girls play in Knoxville recently(smartt, Hobbs, and Kelsey) and they flat out balled and hung with one of the top AAU programs in the state... talent won’t be this teams problem.

Maybe I spell like a fourth grader, but you act like one the way you take everything so personal on here. There AAU team beating WC AAU team is nothing to brag about. They have 6 freshmen and one junior playing on that team. The top 5 or 6 WC girls are playing out of town.  Plus the Coffee AAU program has girls from all over playing on it. Not a great argument.

Comparing AAU teams is useless, as most of the WC talent is playing in other programs outside of the one affiliated with the high school program. Unless something changed, the Vinson and McInturf (sp?) girls were playing for Flight Silver, the Gannon girls are playing between Pride and another team based out of a private school in McMinnville. I agree that WC has a lot of raw talent from the Sophmore/Freshman class, there is only one kid maybe two that will make an impact immediately from the middle school ranks next year. The talent falloff from the current Freshman to the 8th grade class is real, and the current 7th graders are painful to watch. WC may have a run over the next few years, but the success will be short lived. That being said, I think it will be tough for WC to compete with CC any time soon.

I have been saying that for the last year.  Got roasted a little in my preseason predictions but it’s starting to show now.   You can see it in discipline and effort before you see the results.  They are playing well right now.  They gave White County all they wanted Saturday and then some.  I didn’t see CC game but the score looked competitive.

Gave CC a great first half, 22-19 at the half but the lack of depth really caught up midway through the third. WC had a great game plan to deal with Vinson. Held her to 19, 9 of which were from the charity stripe. There could be a few special years coming soon if WC can stay the course.

  19. The Hoop is a great venue and already has great protocols in place, plus Cookeville already hosts the football championships and is fairly centrally located and has easy routes from every direction. At this point, I’m not hearing anything out of the athletics department that would indicate a venue change, but wouldn’t be surprised if it is announced last minute.

  20. Watching Warren vs Coffee, can’t help but notice the difference in this WC team from last season. Coach Anthony Lippe has done a great job consistently improving. Not burning down the house by any means, but vs earlier in the season this team is night and day. Subtract the mandatory shutdown by the director of schools, and WC has been competitive in every game recently outside of the Cookeville blowout. A few more seasons and some of the younger talent from the middle school level coming up Lippe can definitely get WC to a position that they haven’t been in for quite a while.

  21. Hearing that TN has a contingency plan to close schools until Feb 15, as reported on FB by state rep Windle. Not sure how sports factor into the decision but based on the decisions from last year wouldn’t be surprised if all sports are put to a halt as well.
