  1. I'll stir the pot a little. As for the possible player coming over and no  I've not heard anything.I'm sure coach knows the rules and won't do anything to put DB at risk.I personally don't know the rules on if he can practice but we all know he has to be cleared to play one snap in a live game.As for the ticket sales compared to how Elizabethton is doing it.I can't imagine players, cheerleaders and band parents all getting 6 tickets and some of the important folks in Kingsport sitting at home.My personal opinion is if anyone should get to see the game,it should be the players families first .Same as if it was a special band performance like DB has every year. Then the band families should be first in line.

What bothers me is talking about the alarming daily increases when the positivity rate had dropped to 6.6% over the past few days.

I'm thinking a lot of the people who have to make these calls, just simply are going by the numbers of positive cases every day and not by the percentage of those test that were negative.Correct me on this if I'm wrong. If you do say a 1000 test and 100 people have it, that's a  10% positive rate. If you do 10000 test and 660 people have it, that's a 6.6% rate.

  3. Keeping somewhat with the topic for this post. The high school I went to and played sports at is Greeneville. My thoughts are with those athletes and their families .I love football and want to see the Devils get on the field this year . First however is I hope everyone in my old hometown is safe and gets through this. The same goes for every other school and town around the state.

Didn't do anything "wrong". Throwing PC out the window and cutting to the chase... Salem's point was that the headline stated that CV-19 was the cause of a six year old's death. The REAL reason (stated in the article by the parent) was that the boy was weakened by triple organ transplant to the point that he couldn't withstand more problems. Batman countered by saying that there were few people who didn't already have some sort of preexisting condition. Batman's statement was true, but gives the impression that he equates high blood pressure to a triple organ transplant (combined with whatever warranted the transplants to begin with), which is not even close to practical.

Look, I'm not trying to be argumentative or fanatical... I'd just like for the discussion to be practical from both sides.

Ok,Actually, I countered with this and should have  stopped and made another post .. " We as parents never want to see young kids die from anything " Then I explained that I know politics twist everything, meaning that I understood how that article made the death of the young man look....Now the rest was just my opinion on how things are reported and in no way was I trying to compare this terrible event as being equal or the same as high blood pressure.Maybe I could have worded it differently or not.Bottom line is my blood pressure seems to be just fine for me  to take the time and try to be civil  when that does in fact go against my grain.

Batman, if it makes you feel any better, I'm not sure what you did wrong.

We've been at this for 73 pages, and I'm pretty sure all we've effectively done is dug our heels in even more.

Well,  I figured Trader was clairvoyant. Guess I was really meaning something that I wasn't aware of. Maybe his wife made him take out the trash and that's why he was talking about not barricading in a cave.IDK

And posts like this are what's twisting the narrative. If your reading comprehension skills are just average, you already know that Salem wasn't implying that most people have absolutely no issues medically, or that no one is at risk who isn't already at death's door, but your post interprets it that way. It's very unfortunate that a child passed away, and debatable that he could potentially have survived for many years without other complications adding to his delicate condition... what you can't do however, is imply that CV-19 is the  sole determining factor in his passing (which the headline states). In some varying degree, it's likely that most any other contagious illness could and would have resulted in the same outcome. There are some fanatics on both sides of this discussion who have unreasonable opinions of the risk factor, or the measures needed to return earth to some semblance of normalcy, but most reasonable people understand some of the arguments from both sides, just differ on the extremes they are willing to endure (and ask of others) to avoid exposure. I personally am going to use a little common sense and be more cautious about exposure and protection, but I will not barricade myself in a cave someplace, and I certainly won't ask others to do so.

Thanks for your feedback.I'll try not to twist anything around in my future post.

DB is stacked ... Lost very few players ! This year DB has a team similar in size and talent as they did in 2014, but with better coaching  ... I ran into DBs QB and he is excited about this team and what they possibly can do this year (QB is great - the line is stacked - RBs are great - WR - are great ) .. we also have a great Defensive backs coach (which is where DB has made mistakes in the past years , over and over again , every season )

It would be DB's luck to have a team like those that coulda, woulda, shoulda and not be able to compete against the dominant teams for a totally different reason.

Dobyns Bennett in Kingsport is reputed to be picking up guys from Virginia, so that would be a good place for him to land....

Ha, it crossed my mind to say something like that since we already have a thread on it.Then I thought someone would write that I was just being a wise .  .Well,I should have wrote it because that's half the fun of being on here.

This is a typical coronavirus news story for children. Terribly sad but the virus played very little role in this child's death. The only reason for this article is to terrify the parents of small children about to return to school.

    https://www.foxnews.com/us/6-year-old-nebraska-boy-covid-19-died-report

We as parents never want to see the young kids die from anything.I understand the politics of it and know it's twisted like a pretzel both ways. When you think about it, I'd say very few Americans do not have some type of preexisting factor . I do happen to know someone who wasn't at risk and died of it .I know folks will say ,I know a lot of people who died of many things as well and we have to move on.With covid and preexisting, the  argument can go the other way just the same. You can have high blood pressure or a thousand other things and live to be 100 with medication.I guess that's why we all have different opinions.

If anybody is thinking of buying a new laptop you might want to wait just a bit. With thousands of laptops being handed out all over the nation I'd say in a couple months you'll be able to get one off the net for about 50 bucks.

Yeah,I  seen them vote on that last night at the board meeting live .Just after one of the members ask if what they already  had would work ok.

I am from Loudon County so I dont know about the virtual stuff.A friend of mine from Hampton was upset about them holding the kids out of pads for another week.

Ok , I've got a friend that I use to work with that was a bulldog years ago .They have had some really good teams over there.

Since we went to a true state wide playoff (which btw excludes DB and their titles by AP vote) Jeff County was the first "East Tennessee" team to win it all in the '90s I think. We have come a long way since then and it only makes us all better.

I hate to be a know it all because I could get spell or gramer corrected on every post.Morristown east won it at the highest level " 3A " at the time during the first playoff year,1969.TH won it in 71-72 where they finished 2nd in the nation and then won the national title in 72.I think Jeff county won it in 87 but wouldn't swear.

Word is Carter County Mayor said no full pads for another week.

Are you guys going to go virtual for the whole year .I was partially listening when someone was talking about different local systems last night. From what I heard there has been a big disconnect  from the governor and many school systems .Much like how it's been with DC and the states. These local guys are put in a lose- lose situation because either way someone is going to be mad for not sending the kids back or having to possibly put people at risk because the system we have has some question marks.I heard some of Kingsports board and superintendent meeting last night and those guys were probably reading the same comments I was as they talked.Lot of pressure by the public.I'd probably be like Trump and start texting back nasty responses like I don't care who you vote for " loser"  Better edit,I didn't hear you were going virtual all year, just wondered what they decided over there

I will come clean. I always wear a mask, wash hands, keep Social Distance , stay out of bars and order take out. But I just cannot follow the directional arrows at the beginning of an aisle. I go down every aisle anyway I want. Do I feel bad about it? Yes, but I still do it.

    I'm sorry.

Ha,sometimes sorry doesn't cut it Willie.I walked all the way around an aisle at Walmart here in Kingsport so I could go in the right direction for something I needed .What I wanted was in about the middle and It was clear when I started around. I be darned if a family like Barney was talking about at the same time I had gotten around, came right in the wrong direction that I had started from. They had atleast five or more kids running up and down the aisle and not a mask one .

School coming back in session is going to be the real kicker. I know this from reliable people on the inside that 3 of 4 high schools in Blount County that there are at least 3 cases at each one of those schools. I also know a teacher has tested positive in the elementary system of one of our schools. One of the high schools had a mother come pick her son up from school after they became aware the kid had tested positive from a test taken earlier but let the kid go to school anyway leaving the school in a scramble to whom they have came in contact with. That's the mindset of some hillbilly parent which gives most of us a good idea which school that one was. I knew three weeks ago when I passed Foothills Mall and saw that big Ferris Wheel going up that this might not be to good.  I'm not sure what Bird Brain Okayed that great plan.

Your in one part of the state .How many more of these stories are yet to be told.Anyone that doesn't believe it is possible hasn't been to Walmart on a Saturday afternoon.

No. VHSL has said that if a kid goes to another state and plays in the fall he will be ineligible to play at a VHSL school in the spring.

I figured that was the first thing on everyone's mind. From what I seen ,they said a student couldn't play that same sport. So I guess unless the guy from Virginia misspoke or I misunderstood, students could transfer and play a different sport but not football again.

Not doubting you at all.  I compare the 2020 high school football season as going to get a fresh new set of tires but the place we bought them from only put two of the lug nuts per tire back on. The question is just how far down the road will we get before the things go flying off.

Probably a great analogy . I'd take the way different people  look at it another step. Some folks think those total of eight lug nuts  will keep the wheels on for a million miles if your tires would last that long . On the other hand, some people think you will never get out of the parking lot before all four wheels fly off . I'd love for it to end up being more towards the million miles for the season, school and the good of everyone. The thing that concerns me is there are a lot of people working at the tire store who don't  even know how to jack up a car, much less change a set of tires .

east tennessee team in 3a has 4 coaches 9 or more players out after one week

From some of the things I've seen on social media , it's going to be ugly in our area even if many of the kids do virtual instead of on campus.A lot of adults are still not doing what the president ask . How can we expect the kids to act any different.

Batman, good to see you back on the T, hope BVD gets back into it soon as well.  In the meantime....   What do you call 16 sodium atoms following Batman into a bar?      Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na  BATMAN...

I talked to BVD a few minutes ago,not so  much about football but if they kick it off, I'm sure he will have a few things to say on here as well .

I will admit if DB gets that RB there offense will definitely be better this year.

No doubt getting an extra D1 player would help any team unless there was a chemistry problem or they are poorly coached.I remember Bearden having a player that was a game changer on special teams alone as well a threat on any play. This young man looks like a bigger version of Devrin,I don't know if he is as fast but he is special for sure.

Batman it want be easy but I like our chances beating the Devils better than DB beating Maryville...lol

First thing is  if we even have a full season but yes I agree if I were to place odds and bet on those two games, Elizabethton would be atleast even  going in against the Devils and Maryville right now would probably be atleast a two touchdown favorite on every team in east Tennessee.
