Not much of one, at least not tonight. Halls runs a 3-4 defense, and I was impressed with their linebackers' ability to beat blockers to the point of attack. Powell has a very good offensive line, but they haven't looked great when it comes to run blocking.

They ran it pretty well against Clinton. And they've run well enough this season to keep teams honest. But the one thing they lack on offense is a game breaker at running back. They've got 3 guys that have all gotten significant carries this season, but they don't have that go-to back that they've had in the past. In the final minutes tonight, with the game on the line, Connor Wheeler was getting the bulk of the carries, and he's a freshman.

Powell is struggling. Running game is not what it should be. They don’t seem to have a true running back. #3, #15 and #13 lack break away speed. Advantage Oak Ridge. I think #4 should be given a shot back there. Passing game is very inconsistent. #2, #9, #11 are studs. Didn’t see much of # 22, who appears to be the fastest of the three. Heard he was hooked up to IV this week at ER with stomach bug.  Coaching there is baffling. With that being said, Oak Ridge does a better job coaching their players up. I think Oak Ridge wins this game by “Coaching”.  Coach Gaddis and his staff get the edge on that one. I don’t see Powell getting past West, Oak Ridge or Halls (if they meet again) in post season Powell fans may not like to hear this, but too much hype and too many individuals. Oak Ridge upsets Powell 35-28

The lack of an experienced DC is really showing right now.  That needs to be cleaned up and cleaned up in a hurry.

This week could be another 100 point total game with the offensive firepower Karns has in the backfield.

DeSean Bishop is a special player!

  3. Defense is truly not very good. Still some confusion. Coaches were scrambling at times to get 11 players on the field for Powell and one time had  13.  One time they actually punted with 10 on the field.  Defense was getting bullied against Maryville. Powell outside defenders kept losing containment on runs. Saw some chewing out of players on the sidelines.  Still discipline problems.  Way too many penalties. The Maryville offensive linemen are motors.  They don't stop blocking until a little after the whisle blows.. The Rebels are a joy to watch.  No excessive celebrating or slicing the throat signs. Two key injuries too for Powell hurt them a lot.  Powell has a stable of recievers.  When #4 came out, I saw his replacement (#22) wide open several times but QB didn't throw his way. Didn't see that kid on offense after the third quarter. He played well against Anderson County.   Very fast and talented.  The best running back in the region will rush for 200 yards, he being Desean Bishop.  Karns throws, but not well.  My prediction is Powell beats Karns 60-19

Going to be a good one I think. Powell will have to keep mistakes to a minimum (always a problem for Lowe teams) and get off the field on defense. If they don’t create a couple of turnovers, I don’t think they’ll be able to come up with enough stops to win the game. I’d say close for a while with Maryville pulling away. I think the final will be 17-21 point Maryville win.

I don’t think Powell can score 60 points against Maryville. I don’t think Maryville will shut Powell out. I’m not sure Powell is ready to compete against Maryville. I think Maryville wins by two touchdowns and a field goal

Not real Int's?  There is no such thing as a not real Int, did the other team not get possession?  I didn't even mention it was the QB's fault. Didn't Bearden force them into being 4th and 25 in the first place for them to even have to throw one up in the end zone? Stop making excuses for sloppy play.

The first interception was a pass that hit receiver in both hands in stride (error on receiver- but unfortunately the QB gets the stat).  It looked like the receiver was trying to beat the ball up. Definitely a good performance by Bearden defense though.  They are well coached.

  6. Powell has too many stars and not enough team players. Egos are out of control. Coaches and players out of sync. Powell QB under throwing receivers. Starting receivers were dropping passes. Bearden offense had no first downs. Powell speed on defense was too much. Looked like Bearden defense was as fast as Powell starting receivers. A few of Powell two way players looked worn out playing 1 quarter. Walter Nolen is legit. My prediction is Anderson County punches Powell in the mouth early. I think Powell comes back and wins a close one

No.  JV isn't sanctioned by the TSSAA, so it doesn't really exist as far as being eligible or ineligible.

Kids who decide to transfer without a change of residence can and do play on JV teams until they are eligible to play varsity sports after a year from last participation.

    Thank you

You are going to have to be more specific than that.  If they moved into each zone then yes they will be eligible or if their legal guardian is coaching at the new school.  I'm assuming you're talking about Carlevato who transfered from Bearden (Started for them at QB while he was there) to west last year and sat out so he would be eligible this year.  The QB that transferred  from Greeneville to JC didn't get really good playing time last year at all so i don't know were you got that info from, he was 3rd/4th on the depth chart.

Does playing JV not count against eligibility? Also, explain 20 miles as the crow flies.

  9. Question...2 top players from West have transferred to Oak Ridge.  Are they immediately eligible?  Great kid from Bearden has transferred to West.  Is he immediately eligible?  Kid from Greeneville has transferred to Jefferson County.  Is he immediately eligible?  All these players had really good playing time last season...
