  1. I wonder if they will announce the new coach before Christmas break? If they don't have a new coach in place before break they will be way behind the curve if the new guy brings in new systems. This is true for every open job but some will have an easier time overcoming that hurdle.

Fayetteville probably has the hardest road to the title game of anyone other than McKenzie. Because they play each other.

3rd round looks to be a McKenzie Fayetteville matchup

4th round hopefully is a Peabody matchup

McKenzie was a young team this year too I believe. They took the tide to overtime this year in the playoffs.

I completely agree, that's why I went with whoever gets out of the west will defiantly be my favorite to win 1a each of the next two seasons. Without a doubt I think Peabody will be the team that makes it, but both McKenzie and Fayetteville will be very tough outs. Any 3 of Peabody, McKenzie, Fayetteville could win the Championship and will be a great path to the playoffs just to watch you all fight it out!

    Wait and see..

I do think Peabody will be the favorite but I like that upcoming sophomore at Fayetteville the RB, dude is going to be a stud. And Fayetteville was young this season as well. South Pitt is always a solid team but I will take the West to win 1a the next two seasons.

  4. While I'm sure we all think Alcoa will be there representing the East who do you guys think may have a real shot at beating them? With some very good teams moving up to 4a (Milan, Pearl, South Gibson) I would think Covington will probably be the favorite in the West to make it in 2021 but anything could happen.

They will stay here ! Jacobs is in it for the long haul, his family and the Lord are very important to him ! Coach Jacobs is a long plan type fella ,he knows what is best for his four children his wife and his walk in his faith ! The rest of the staff has been there and done that and aren't status hunter personalities,Coach Vowel has been there done that and is truly enjoying what he has here, the rest of our staff is Druggers has a kid in the program Sam our starting Q B is a sophomore and pops ain't leaving Trenton ! All small communities claim they are football towns but Trenton lives it ,our coaches and kids are rockstar here and they show the love back ! My 86 year old next door neighbor Mrs Barb is a perfect example didn't miss a game and bakes the players treats and follows them on FB and goes to church with most of them, you would think they are all her great grandkids, and there a bunch more just like her ! We are blessed in this lil town of 3600 folks we are diverse and embrace that

That is awesome! I know Jacobs wouldn't leave for sure. Vowell made it a point when he stepped down at NS that he was going to Trenton for his own sanity and to spend more time with his family (as in not all the work behind the curtain of being a HC) so I assumed he wouldn't go anywhere either.

Almost all skill players on offense ,we have 36 10 th graders, most of which played and or started. Mr Football and his twin are back, our 6'5 sopomore reciever is back along with out other reciever Mr Key . Line will have stud anchors back and Willfork will be back on D Line for his senior season,no drop off if any in talent next year.

That is incredible, for sure there is no talent drop off for what sounds like the next two years at least. You think your coaching staff will stay intact or foresee any leaving the program?

Oh wow, I guess that makes sense, still shouldn't effect who is teaching them. I feel like they can learn just as well from any race of teacher. As long as said teacher is qualified to do so, if they started hiring non qualified staff members it would open the door for them to only hire "Friends and Family" members  opening themselves for more law suits.

A "policy like that" is illegal... jobs must be posted, and no uncertified person may be hired if a person who is certified in a particular subject pertaining to the job has applied. Unless the poster chose his words poorly, the Director of Schools was instructed to FIRE certified personnel in order to hire uncertified of a specified race... unbelievable.

Correct, the hire must have a teaching license and be certified or in the process of getting certified in the subject to even be considered for these jobs. Humboldt does have a higher percentage of black students if I recall correctly its close to 60% black/African American?  Again this whole situation is messed up when looking in on it, and this board member still has a job on the board?!

So far it all seems similar to last year. I’m not in the main building where the central office is located so idk about how things are there.

Well I hope everything works out over there, Humboldt needs to hire whoever is best for their community and schools no matter if they are black, white, or whatever. Since you are a part of the school system there any coaching names you have heard that applied or interviewed or anything?

I work at Humboldt and the worst part about all of this is how the people feel about it. It is literally 50/50 for what happened and against what happened. Not sure how this will shake out. If it wasn’t a split like it is I think it would be a better situation, but it’s not. A lot of colleagues I worked with left because of the change.

Edit: I’m not meaning their feelings about the lawsuit or the hire as being the worst part. What I am meaning is the division that it has caused.

Well are they now hiring only black educators over white? Curious how all of this is playing out now that it was brought to light? I feel like it would only strengthen the case against Humboldt if they are

The ship was sinking with Teddy. The climate and culture of the program had been well established under Morris. There were clear expectations. Under Teddy the climate changed and things got toxic.  The coaching change was made at the right time. Had we continued and not made the change we would be no where close to where we are today. Kids are buying into what Diffee is selling. He is a motivator and the kids want to play for him. Everyone has the same vision and team culture couldn’t be better.

I think Diffee is exactly what Milan needed. While I do think Teddy was a good coach, I think you are right when things start turning and getting toxic it was time for a change for both parties involved. As for Humboldt, I am thinking it will have to be someone young with high energy and a system to get the most our of their strengths over there. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they went with an outside hire for that program to try to get more energy and love for the game of football. While Ballard seemed to do well this year they only beat teams they should be beating every year anyways, Scotts Hill, Gleason, a Covid win over Memphis East. I don't know who has applied or even if they have been doing interviews but the length of this process already tells me that not too many have applied for this job.

This is just my opinion, I hope Humboldt can get someone that's a good fit and get that program back in the right direction.

  12. Any word here on who is the front runner? Its been open and have heard no news on this job. I don't think this job is the most desirable with the tough region they are in but I assumed a coach would be named already, did not many people apply?

  13. These are the schools I have seen open up, any you guys for sure see opening this year? Who should be gone in your opinion? Any leads on who will land any of these jobs?

    Knox Grace

    Humboldt

    Portland

    Mt. Pleasant

    Tyner

Smith County (Job posting down, no announcement made on who is hired yet)

    Summertown

    and Sevier County

I think this is very possible. I just don’t see South Gibson scoring more than the 14pts they did the first go around but I was told they had some starters out in that one. However I think Covid has got them a little short handed right now too.

While I think they are a very well coached group, I feel like they have honestly overachieved this year. They are good but have problems, With great coaching I feel they can keep it close but I'm with you I don't see them putting up more then 14.
