Not if you have Roller at 26, Sturgill at 32, Mason at 38, and Ivy at 45 like I originally posted.

Good news we could see some of these match ups with the Best of Best duals this spring. It will be Freco but still.

    Fowler’s been in Cleveland for 3 years….

Curious how long a kid needs to be involved in that schools program (club, MS,HS)…. before their points start to count.

What about the SH 126? He’s tough, but moved in from NY…. erase his points

What about the varsity Bradley 106? He’s not great but moved in and will help them in the future. They had a kid from oregon move in 2 years ago(moved in, placed, moved back)

What about Noah Todd(Siegel) and James Hicks(Blackman WC)? Points don’t count?

What about Finley Jameson? Moved in 2 years ago

Bottom Line….. everyone has kids move in. Get over it.

Cleveland doesn’t start winning in High School. Go look at the Club State Dual results the last 10 years.

I don’t even live in TN anymore but if you follow the sport any, you have to see the dominance on all levels.

Stop creating crazy hypothetical situations or making excuses.

Cleveland won’t be at the top forever. There are a few programs that do it right and will take over the top 3 soon.

Calm down there Chief, not need to get your singlet in a bunch. You named 1 kid from each of those schools. Cleveland landed 5 plus a couple in the youth program. Most of those kids moved to Cleveland because of wrestling. Jamison didn’t move because of wrestling, SH kid didn’t move because of wrestling. I can’t speak to the Hicks kid. WC always seem to find kids that land in their lap as well as you stated. Difference is Cleveland gets it done in the post season. But we can’t blame the kids for moving there. Like it was said before Cleveland has a very successful program and people want to be apart of that.

Kids want to be in a program that's successful and wins state titles and gives them the best shot to win an individual title. Cleveland put 4 freshman in the boys lineup this year and one girl in the girls line up and all but one went to cleveland middle school and all placed top 5. Traveling across the US to find good competition and practicing 5 days a week pretty much year round because our kids have a desire to be the best because that's the expectation, if you consider that recruiting because kids want to be a part of that then so be it but because its not happening 3 miles down the road isn't a very good reason to be calling people out. I don't deserve much credit for the success that Cleveland has had because I'm not around as much as I could be, but the people that do, work tirelessly year round to make sure these kids have the best chance for success that they can possibly have. I just don't think it's right to say that people are cheating or recruiting because they work harder than most other coaches in the state.

I don’t think anyone is questioning the work ethic of the Cleveland coaching staff. As they are second to none. But let’s be honest if you take the Fowler’s, Lucas and Jax out of that lineup Cleveland probably doesn’t win it this year. Fowler’s are from Blackman, Lucas from up north and spent a year in Williamson county and Jax from Texas. But you are correct people are attracted to successful programs.

Eason defeated Little in the semi-finals of the FR tournament and Gobbell defeated Goeble in the finals of the FR tournament so they were down in early January.  I assume that the coaches felt that they were not deserving of the Dream Team Award

Wonder if it could be because Eason didn’t wrestle after the FR tournament until sections and state due to injury. Maybe they thought he was done. Not sure about Brody though.

Seriously you are going to give just a small space to Chattanooga area, but yet the ENTIRE area of middle TN to them?  LOL. Again lets do middle vs East, instead of Chattanooga vs middle TN. I mean Coffee County is closer by about 4 miles to downtown Chatt compared to downtown Nashville.  Davidson county, rutherford and williamson are a huge population. Davidson has more population compared to hamilton and bradley combined, heck actually about the same as hamilton and knox combined. Right now you are combining like Davidson, Rutherford, Williamson AND Montgomery LOL.  I say instead we do East/middle/West and all divisions combined and see what happens, I mean it is about as fair as above.

As I think it was mentioned in another comment. The reason for MidTn vs chatt was because if you wrestle for public schools around the chatt area you find your way to Cleveland or Bradley. Not saying the other schools don’t have good kids but those are always top 2. heck kids from Midtn find their way to Cleveland to wrestle.

Wrestling math (yeah I know). They have a common opponent in Finley Jameson.  Max pinned him.  Wittman wrestled Finley twice and lost by decision and fall.  I don't think the task is that tall.  Max should get to semis but beating Belcher is the real problem.

But I do think Max beats Wittman.

Not sure if you watched the Jamison/Norman match. Jamison had Norman stuck in a cradle then slipped up and got pinned. I think that match will be closer than we think.

All of them are deserving of the award but a lot goes into these votes/decisions. Look at pro sports for example not every time a team has the best record do they get the coaching award. For instance Nolensville moved up a classification and did very well and wrestled extremely tough at the state duals. While Franklin did not make it to state duals they won their side of the district (first time in over 13 years) and they do not have a middle school team or feeder like the other two. There have been multiple times when a team from this region won regions and placed at state and the coach didn't get the award. I believe Miller has won the award a couple times in his stint at Summit but would like to know when he got snubbed this award in the past?

Let’s not make excuses for MS and feeders. When Pete took over they had no feeder and the MS and HS was a dumpster fire. Pete built both of those and is extremely active in the off season to make sure his program is where it is. Most coaches bounce after state tournament while Pete is still active in Freestyle/Greco, MS and kids club. Not saying the coaches aren’t worthy because they all sacrifice a lot of time. So let’s just call it a popularity contest over COY.

I saw AA Region 5 just put the brackets up and for Wilson Central Steven Fisak is not listed at 145, 152,  160 or on the team page.  What the heck happened?  Man I hope he didn't get injured.

    Injured

Playing devils advocate, but it doesn’t have as much to do with the size of school you are in but how much work you are willing to do.  My son and his teammates go to a small school and we have 3 Nationally ranked wrestlers and another that’s been in and out of the rankings.  Just work more, get up before school and lift, go to school practice, then drive an hour each way to do a club practice. Get home every night at 9pm then do the same thing the next day. That’s how you get better not just simply going to a bigger school.

oh yea, you should also train year around. Can’t get good at anything only doing it 4 months a year.

I personally don’t think the state champs in any division has an advantage over the other.  Big school is definitely deeper, but not necessarily better.  I personally would love to see a dual between small school state champs, large school and private champs. I think that would be super fun and extremely competitive.

not blasting you just haven’t understood anyone that doesn’t want to compete against the best.

I never said I wasn’t for combining. I’ve been traveling with my son for over a decade. Cali, New York, ND, Pa, Va Beach, Michigan, Ohio so we don’t shy away from competition. I simply stated he could have found better sports for his argument.

I have never understood why anyone would be against having one state champion for individual sports unless they are selfish.  If you are the best swimmer at 50m, wrestler at 285lb, bowler, sprinter at 100m, etc… you are the best.  We have done nothing more than raise two generations of soft individuals by telling them they are not good enough to compete against people with more advantages.  The fact is that when these young athletes become adults they will have to compete against those same individuals for jobs.  Place everyone back together for one true individual state champion and don’t keep team scores.

Those are the worst 3 examples you could have used to defend your case. A swimmer doesn’t need another swimmer to make them faster. A bowler doesn’t need another bowler to make him get strikes. A wrestler needs another wrestler to help them become better.

106- Walker has a good shot. There are a couple other freshman 106s with a good shot too.

126- He may finish on the podium, but the top 3 here are two steps above the rest of the field. Its a shame one of them wont even qualify for the tournament.

132- Sturgill has a shot. But Desselle has proven himself to be the clear number 1. He'll have his hands full.

145- Its a two horse race here.

152- Fowler took a few losses at the beginning of the season that he's come back to close the gap on now. Fisak is still going to be a tall task though.

160- I'm gonna take heat for this one. Lucas hasn't wrestled any of the kids ranked above him. I feel like he has a legitimate shot at a title.

Sturgill and Walker are the 2 that have the best shot.

What does the next 4-5 years look

     like??

     Cleveland

     Bradley

    Wilson Central

     Summit

I think those 4 plus Nolansville. Those will be good for the next 5 years. Nolansville, Summit and Bradley don’t lose much.

The folks that have made that decision to turn a 16 man bracket into a 3 day tourney should be fired for incompetence. Have they even considered the repercussions that this is gonna cause the kids, school and the parents?  Will cost each family who wants to watch their kid compete about 1k as well.

The cost for the school alone is gonna be astronomical, for those who are traveling from a long ways away they will have to spend 3 nights in a hotel at a min and maybe 4. That will cost most schools 5-6k. Add in the cost of a bus driver who gets paid while they sit, the money it takes to feed the kids and this one tourney will exceed most schools entire wrestling budget.

let’s not even talk about the kids having to miss 3 days of school. What’s the impact on grades with that much time away?

The kids who make it to the finals will wrestle 2 matches Thursday, one on Friday and one on Saturday. So in a 72 hour time kids will weigh in 3 times and wrestle for a maximum of 24 mins.

Whoever made this decision obviously hasn’t ever had to mange a tight budget to keep a program alive. This is  absolutely a terrible decision.

Unfortunately the probably do understand the repercussions but financial benefits out weigh the best interest of the parents, kids and coaches. They see $$$$ and how much will be brought to the area.

Solid season for Nolensville in its first AA year.  They're overmatched against Cleveland but are capable of getting a W in the consolation bracket.

I absolutely agree they could make some noise in consolations.  Nolansville and Summit run Region 7 for the next couple years.

    Doubt it matters

BC wins 2-3 matches any way they wrestle them bc no way they don’t wrestle Lipsey at 126….. unless they are very confident in Landon beating the bigger Lipsey, which would give Summit the advantage. These three weight may decide the dual…and 170-220

Regardless, great first round dual….. will be interesting how the coaching play chess

Desselle had wrestled 138 most matches for duals. I’m sure he will wrestle 138 question is does BC bump from Desselle….

  17. 2 minutes ago, Rasslinking said:

    Not impossible…. but not likley

106- equally skilled. Edge to BC

    113- BC Pin

    120- BC dec

126-BC dec lipsey over leach BUT leach has the skill to beat.

    132- Summit Pin

    138- BC by pin

    145- BC by pin

    152- Summit by pin

    160-BC by dec

    170- BC by dec

    182- Summit by pin

    195-Summit by pin

220-BC by pin (sloan hasn’t wrestled since dec)

    HWT- Summit by dec

    39-27 Bradley

Who do you have @132 for Summit?

  18. 44 minutes ago, Ummmno said:

I gave Summit a pin at 182, a dec at 106 and dec at Hwt.

I think Summit's best kids at 20, 26 and 32 all get beat.

    James over Little by Maj

Crisp over Leach or Masters by dec (honestly have no idea whats going on there)

Lipsey will bump to 32 and beat Desselle by 3

    Wow

Bradley also did not have Wyatt James at 120. It will be a good match but Bradley wins.

I’ll give my prediction and say it ends 30-30 with Summit win on criteria. Last time out they both won 7 matches. This time I think it’s 8-6 Summit.
