  1. Good game, can’t score 8 in a playoff game and expect to win. Last two times meigs has lost at home was 2017 and tonight only scored 8. Got to get the ball to 15 more in that game, let your players make plays. Thought our defense played great again tonight. Gave up 1-2 big plays though that really changed the momentum. As for the aftermath penalties, no excuses but as competitors I think everyone understands the raw emotions of a teenager in that situation. Hate that it happened, much respect for TC and hope to see them again next year. Series tied 2-2

Question?  Was that Meadows lowest rushing numbers this year?  He's a good back but I don't think he got 75 yards.

According to the Chattanooga paper Meadows finished with 79 on 23 carries, so actually second lowest, Covid kept held him to 0 yards in week 1 lol. Vaughn had 90 on 17 and Ganaway had 99 on 21. Peabody has been blessed with a wonderful 1-2 punch the last couple years at the RB position.

    Postgame thoughts:

I expected this to be two evenly matched teams and little things to sway the outcome. Penalties, turnovers, special teams, etc.

I was right, but also a little off. If Peabody is a 10, Meigs is an 8.3 or so. Peabody has several guys that can hurt you, just a few more than Meigs did. I think everyone picked up on this after a couple offensive series from each team. Meigs needed every break to go their way, and really the opposite happened. The pass play that would've made it 7-7 was wonderfully designed and executed. Seemed like a ticky tack penalty. I know the feeling lol.

Meigs O line  got beaten the entire first half. They tried some diff things to get Meadows going, but none of them really worked.

Also first half, Peabody's O line did just enough to get Ganaway past the first level, then Meigs back 7 struggled to bring him down.  I personally thought Ganaway was the POTG. Repeatedly he delivered on 3rd and 4th in the first half when the game was in doubt.

The second half was more a result of Peabody being content to give up a lot of short yardage, but not the big play, than anything else. Give Meigs credit. They never quit. Their kids battled to the end. Getting to Cookeville ONCE is a great thing. These guys lost a Mr Football and got there 2 straight years. They waded thru the TC/Watertown region TWICE in the playoffs.  I enjoyed watching Meigs continue to fight, but I never felt they would win. But they DID keep battling. Taking it one play at a time. The fans kept cheering. The sidelines kept encouraging. THAT is why we love this game. No quit in those Tigers at ALL.

Peabody is so fun to watch. Their swagger, and almost an expectation of winning. I'd LOVE to have seen them against the Marion Co 2015/2016 teams. So many great matchups would've happened.

Congrats to both teams, fans, and programs. It was a beautiful day for a game. It was also a miracle if you think back to the summer, when we were wondering if we would even have a season. These two programs embody why we are so crazy about this sport!! Every kid has a story and a family, and a community, cheering, feeling proud that they know the kid, feeling honored to have a chance to influence the kid, etc.

These two special teams gave us joy, when we really needed it. I hope that's what we remember.

    Peabody is a little better.

Meigs needed a break or two and they haven't gotten it.

    - The overturned fumble early.

    - The misplay on the punt that got them pinned deep.

    - The chop block.

    - The dropped pass in the 2nd at midfield

    - The 3 and out and taking less than a minute of clockwise in the 2nd.

Little things that could've kept this a 1 score game.

Agreed, overturned fumble and the chop block on a 50 yard td and this game is a lot different. Peabody is a good team, but they’re a lot better when you let them get comfortable. I still think meigs will come out in the 2nd half and hopefully can get something going. 1st half of this year reminded me of the 2nd half last year. Credit to Peabody thus far.

I truly wish Meigs would play McMinn in football. It would be a quality game (loss) for Meigs, an easy non-region win for the Cherokees, maybe like between two big region games. Kind of like an SEC school playing UTC & it would be a good gate if Covid gets better. Be a good chance for Meigs players to experience what it's like to play on the big stage.

Thank you for the entertainment tonight. You should honestly find a career as a comedian, or better yet, a clown.

Ill also be ready to read in the paper about another silver ball being brought back to Decatur. Better luck next year, maybe you will schedule us and we can be the one good team on your schedule.

And a silver ball would be better than anything mcminn as accomplished..... ever lol. As for playing you guys, you guys wouldn’t even scrimmage the little 2a team after they beat up on you for 2 straight years.

Our players and coaches actually get tested with symptoms instead of not going to get a test, following the rules. Buddy at work said players and coaches at "Megis" have had Covid symptoms and are avoiding getting tested cause it would cause key members of the team to quarantine and a football coaches family member tested positive but they don't have to quarantine. Again, I don't go across the ridge but if any of that is true, wow...

False rumors. Someone is very upset they didn’t get their opportunity to get beat in the 3rd round instead of the second. Once again, meigs players have been in virtual classes only and most players have even moved in with their grandparents and other family members to avoid possible cases. You and your buddy need to get ready for your jv basketball games next week.

I mean without a McMinn Co boy at QB and a Rogers girl from Athens a few years ago in softball no one would really know who Meigs is. Or is it "Megis" as your fans couldn't even spell your school on the side of their vehicle last year in the TTU parking lot, hahaha sad

The “Mcminn county” QB has played for meigs since little league, only went to middle school because it was easier for his family. You must be forgetting the 46-6 record that came before he played a down at QB either way. As for Rogers, man what a blessing. Not often you get a Gatorade player of the year and SEC freshman year at a 2a school. It’s almost like mcminn didn’t allow her to play Bc she was homeschooled. Not sure there’s anyone to blame besides yourselves pal

So my Cherokees got in a mess with the whole Covid thing vs DB when it was our best team ever in recent history and it cost us a run. But i got buddies I work with that said Meigs is cancelling school for next week and they cancelled our basketball game with them and the coach or coaches at Meigs have Covid or were suppose to be quarantine but magically nothing happens. Don't know if there is truth to this but I'd hate to see a forfeit in Cookeville cause of not following Covid guidelines. It sure cost my cherokees

And also, the coaches were basketball coaches and that is why the BASKETBALL game was canceled. And last thing, did you join the T just to say this??? Lol

I can assure you there is no Covid guidelines being broken. Meigs gave their students the ability to choose between online and in person classes all year and for the past several weeks all meigs football players have been in virtual classes. Let’s not try to spread some false rumors there pal.

  10. If meigs can play a 4 quarter game I feel confident in this game. Haven’t done that to the best of our ability so far this year.if not it could be a long day. It was the downfall of the tigers hopes last year. With that being said.....

    Meigs 24-21

I see either team jumping to a possible two score lead and then adjustments winning this game. Hopefully the roles will reverse from last year.

  11. Just watched a rewind of last years game. Wow.... blew our chances big time. I think last year the physicality of Peabody wore us down in the second half and just couldn’t get Swafford going again. Peabody was more physical and for the most part faster last year. They will once again be the fastest team this year with the exception of Meadows I think. In my opinion I think meigs will have the physical advantage, only time will tell.

This is an extremely poor argument. Every Mr. Football candidate only plays a full game a couple times a year. The award only considers regular season games, so Meadows only played 2 full games (SP and Oneida) and I’d say it’s about the same for Ganaway. I just hate the whole “he only played a full game two or three times!” argument when it’s like that for all candidates coming from teams like Peabody and Meigs.
Edit: It was the same story for Swafford every year he was nominated, and I’m sure Baugus (spelling?) went through that too last year. Hunter Frame from SP could’ve ran for 3,000 yards in the regular season if he got to play full games.

Took the words right from my mouth.

  13. Just read some stats on a preview of Saturday’s game.

Khalik Ganaway, RB: 209 Carries, 1,582 Yards, 21 TDs

Will Meadows, RB: 198 Carries, 1,780 Yards, 31 TDs
pretty impressive the stats put up by Meadows especially considering he’s done it in 3 less games. (Sat out because of Covid week 1 and 2 Covid wins). Don’t know how many games Peabody had missed. Finalist vs finalist.

He's good but Peabody has seen this all year.  Good running backs still lose FB games.  That's on both sides.  Ill take our backs over him any day.  He is fast but he is not ganaway fast or Vaughn's vision.  You will soon see.  I jus wish the Meigs people would not take things so personnel.  It's just banter and its all for fun.  We have much respect for Meigs.  It's a rematch of different teams from last year.

And I and many others will take Meadows all day. See how long this goes on, I’ve read page after page about how every player we have is just incapable and it’s a miracle they’re even allowed on the field with you guys. Much respect for the Peabody program, can’t say the same for you fellers.

Nobody is stuck up just sharing info with you and you came back salty. Go knaw on your briars goat and let the people talk. :roflolk:

Your info was incorrect, that was the whole intention of sharing the stats in the first place.  Let’s not try to act all high and mighty. “Let the people talk” listen to your own advice.

  16. Not sure why we are comparing either team to the performance of last year. This meigs team is new and different. If you think you’re getting the same Meadows that you guys saw last year then I hope you’re ready to bite your tongue. Meigs weakness the past few years has been against the run, this years run defense is the best I’ve seen in quite some time from the boys in Decatur. We all know how good Peabody is/was but Im not counting the tigers out of this one. 3 point game either way IMO
