A state tournament semi final team only scores 14 points, I figured 4 classifications watered it down, dang not a good look for Tssaa.

Proud of all the west tn teams but that is a very good point.  GC played Greenfield and South Gibson 2 times each this year all 4 games were blowouts.   Those 2 teams being in the state semifinals was a big surprise.  Kudos to their coaches for getting them there.

You can too shut her down multiple teams have held her under or around 10 points!

Im sure coach Wilkins is tickled to death with the outcome of today’s game even though he wasn’t able to shut her down.  To say a defense didn’t work when it only gave up 35 points is crazy.  Maybe York is “lucky” hart couldn’t make any open shots she always makes today or it would have been over a lot earlier than it was.

  3. So you are saying Wilkins made adjustments to take Beaty out of the game and it worked?   Saying a team got lucky is typical sore loser mentality.  Get over yourself.  Better luck next year.  You’ll still have I deal with these pesky district 14 teams.  They might get “lucky” again next year.

Luckily Beaty cooled off or that zone wasn’t working honestly lol idk what first half you watched. But she outscored the zone by herself. Honestly don’t know why Beaty stopped shooting as much?
I picked GC to win if you go back and look :D
I’ll put big money on York bringing the gold ball back to the UC next year barring a major injury to Beaty.

The only problem GC had in the first half was scoring the ball.   York had 17 pts at the half.   Any coach will take that.    Say what you want, there’s not many better than Wilkins getting his team prepared and motivated.   This team will straight up get after you on defense.  Theres always next year for every team.  This this year all the money was on McMinn and GP.  We see how that turned out.  Itll

be a war today between GC and Loretto

  5. The 2 semifinal games won’t be very competitive imo.   Upperman will beat SG by 20+.  And if Dyersburg can hold their composure and not get rattled for spurts they will do the same.

Still shocked by the scene in the south side Dyersburg game.  Hope those refs are held accountable.    Who can blame South Side coach for being upset with having to tell them he was in the bonus and having to argue over how many fouls a girl had or what the score was.  Hopefully he gets heard from the powers that be in TSSAA.

  6. That was unacceptable to be going on at the state tournament.   Not sure what all was going on but the game was stopped multiple times to meet with the book keepers. Scores being corrected.  Foul numbers were wrong.  Can’t blame McNeil for being irritated.  And when he was Td up the ref that did it was completely across the floor. Just a terrible situation.

Do u think they’re plain better if WV is at full strength?

First off you play with what you’ve got.   But yes GC is better than westview even if westview was full strength.  They beat them the first time they played by 20+ with full strength.  It’s hard to beat a good team 4 times.  Look at the district championship last year when GC knocked off westview.

  8. Great game.   Westview did everything they could to give themselves a chance.  Just don’t have the horses in the end to stay with them.  Believe GC outscored them 22-6.  That GC defense is just another level when it’s locked in.  Westview took Hart out of the game tonight.  But the better team won.  Hope to see both of these teams in the glass house next week!

  9. Everyone is saying that it is GP or McMinn this year.  Both are great teams.  But don’t sleep on Gibson County.  They have beaten some great teams this year and only have one slip up in a game against Crockett Co where a few girls had to sit for a while for disciplinary reasons I believe during Christmas break.  And still then had a chance to win it in the end.  Any game Micah Hart plays in they will have a chance.  And the role players have gotten better as the year goes on.   They will have a say in it.

  10. Awesome game.  I think it’s safe to say who the top 4 in double a were this year. Just an off night for hart with fouls trouble plaguing her.   She never got going and when she fouled out McMinn took advantage.  20 for McMinn couldn’t miss tonight!  She was impressive.  You always hate to see fouls have such a big role in a game of that magnitude.  But gotta play through.  Congrats to McMinn

Bartlett has played two of the worst teams in the tournament to get to the finals basically a cakewalk. They will be polishing that silver ball without breaking a sweat for it.

I’ll admit you are dedicated to your cause.  If you just continue to make predictions like this you will eventually get one right!!!

The official DQ’d both players for the incident that occurred with 05.9 left in the game.  The preceding barbs and everything else is irrelevant when it’s one situation that is identified in the “player disqualification report”.

I think that the official DQ’d #4 for what he saw and DQ’d #30 for what he thought that he saw.  I’m not saying that barbs weren’t exchanged leading up to the incident.  Honestly I’m sure that they were.  What I am saying is that I don’t see how #30 was ejected when he was on the receiving end of a physical assault that took place and did not even respond.  I thought from the video that he remained pretty level headed in not pushing #4 back or throwing a punch at #4 in retaliation.

First off. Unless more than what I saw happened 4 pushed 30.  It wasn’t a punch and just some awful “physical assault” like you’re saying. Now he can’t do that and I’m not defending it. Once again 4 deserves punishment.  But did 30 not have ahold of 4s jersey before the push?  It sure looked that way live.   It was a bad situation that both players played a major role in. Let’s stop acting like 30 was the victim.  In the end I still feel like the refs could have stopped it.  Them 2 had been pretty aggressive towards each other in the moments leading up to it.

On the video that I saw from last nights game #30 for Fairview and #4 from Gibson County exchanged looks after a long pass from just shy of mid court with 05.9 seconds remaining in the game.  #4 fouled him on the play and then when #30 walks away from him #4 decided to walk up and shove him.  I don’t know if anything was said but if something was said then both players should have received a technical foul.  Outside of that though the video clearly shows that #4 from Gibson County should have then been ejected from the contest for physically assaulting #30 from Fairview.  At no point in the video that I watched does #30 from Fairview either instigate confrontation with #4 nor did he physically lay a hand on #4.  It’s pretty sad that the official ejected #30 from Fairview especially if he is a senior who just helped his team reach the state tournament.  He did nothing to deserve to be ejected from that game and even was physically assaulted by a player from the other team.  #4 from Gibson County did deserve to be ejected because he provoked an altercation and then physically shoved another player because reality had set in and he was frustrated with the result of the game.

I expect Fairview to appeal the decision and to win the appeal because the official was wrong to eject their player in this instance.

4 from Gibson Co deserves whatever punishment he gets. But 30 from Fairview definitely played a huge part in the situation.  I haven’t seen a video but he looked to have grabbed 4 before the push live.  And was definitely doing his share of taunting in the moments leading up to it.

  14. Nobody seems to be giving the 2 west tn teams much hope.  All I will say is they both have plenty of experience at the Glass house and both have a player that’s as good as anyone else can put out there and good guard play. That’s always going to give you a chance.

  15. I believe #30 for Fairview and #4 from Gibson county were both ejected.  They had both been mouthing quite a bit the last couple minutes and it came to that.   Was definitely a bad way for the game to end. Wish the refs had noticed and try to get it ended before it got that far because you could see it coming with them 2.  Also, the way 4 walked off the court and his actions are something that shouldn’t be accepted and I’ve heard will be addressed by the school.  Hopefully he can learn from that.   Was a great back and forth game until the final seconds went that way

  16. Let’s hear the predictions.

    GC/Riverside

    GP/ McMinn

    Community/Scott’s Hill

    Westview/ York

I’m expecting 2 battles and and 1 that’s not gonna be close.  Not sure about community.  Definitely expect them to win but not sure by how much.  Wouldn’t be surprised if GC gets to rest the starters a little against riverside.

    GC by 20+

    McMinn by 4

    Community by 15

Loretto got the whistle but you have to give them credit. They kept attacking the rim almost every possession. Gibson County had some contact on their end that wasn’t called but give Loretto credit they were in right position to get calls more than we were. It was an ESPN Classic type contest. Best game I have ever witnessed I believe. It was a true dogfight with both crowds getting after it. Gibson County kept battling and refused to lose the game. Great effort.

Agree with that.  They took advantage of how the game was being called for sure.  Both teams played their hearts out.  Great win for GC

  18. It was a showdown in loretto last night from watching on tv.  Not gonna beat that atmosphere.   Gotta give GC major props for a comeback in that environment and against those odds.  If you want to talk about home court advantage. I think they said at one point the free throw differential was 23-5 in favor of loretto.   Ally weathers had to have 14-15 pts from the free throw line.  I’m sure it evened out a little with loretto fouling at the end.  Micah hart put on a show.  No way she’s not one of the best 3 players in the state.  Great game from both teams.
