I think he'll be back next year at ETSU. Don't think they have the money to buy out coaches on 5 year contracts. Got to remember they shut the program down for eleven years over cost they couldn't  handle. Have to believe Randy Sanders left on a winning note for some reason. ETSU's football problems are actually a little deeper than just the head coach.

My fear with the ETSU program is if they don't win now fans will ignore it again and they'll drop football again.

People tend to talk about coaches, Xs and Os, culture and mindsets. Sometimes it is just the genetics of not being athletic. Big doesn’t mean fast or strong, 5’9 dads don’t often produce 6’4 220 pound tight ends. Fastest guy on the team doesn’t mean fast enough for the schedule. I’ve seen WR on line and they resemble my remarks. I watched Greeneville’s Middle school go through their Middle School like a hot knife through soft butter. We were at old South  stadium which is in terrible disrepair. But their team was well coached and disciplined, lots of kids out, and wonderful supportive parents.

Yeah, I'm not in love with the coaches at WR, but the real issue is just a general lack of athleticism. DB and SH out athlete the Wolves and they don't really matchup with the Knoxville teams at all, unfortunately that's not something you can really teach either.

Chris Thacker. Came from Morristown West. They over complicate things. Causes mistakes and confusion. This goes back to the Clark days. He handpicked Christian to be his successor, so I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't pick Thacker. I also wouldn't be surprised if Clark has a hand in some of the play calling from up in the press box. I think I remember Christian saying he would be leaning on him for advice down the road. Seems like DB teams still have that Clark stench to them. Lots of penalties, can't put 4 quarters together (or even 3) offence is to complicated, and you can always count on a bone head play call at a crucial time.

Wether they make a change from Joey or not, I think they need to get a new OC. This guy calling plays isnt it.

Our weakness is standing on the sideline wearing a ball cap and a pair of shorts. Good guy, good line coach, but he's just not head coach material. Offensive play calling is middle school level. We've got about 5 more years of this before they figure out it ain't working. Thats how it's done in Kingsport.

Serious question but who is the DB OC? Didn't you all bring this guy in from the Chattanooga area? I ask because your offense just seems odd, I don't think DB runs a play that doesn't have some sort of motion tag on it. I was watching the YouTube stream and even the DB announcers were talking about DB doing motion pretty much every play and SH wasn't even reacting to it. Seems like there's a lot of eye candy there for nothing.

Hey, we could bring Clark back. He beat Carter every year but couldn't beat anybody else. Kinda' like Carter beats Christian every year but can't beat anybody else. I mean since the only important thing is to win the battle of Kingsport and Johnson City.

I mean, there is no we for me in this fight. At this point thought im sure most Indian fans would be ok with that.

I don't know how long it's going to take but I think Shawn Witten eventually goes to Science Hill. Science Hill has enough talent year in and year out to be competing for state titles. Just never had a very good coaching staff.

This, theyre the 3rd largest enrollment in the state, they have athletes for days. If they pull someone like Witten or get Ballard to come out of retirement theyll be beating DB by 40.

On the other hand, I had this conversation with a friend the other day, if ETSU fires Quarles and wants to try another local HS coach, I wouldnt be surprised to see Shawn get a call.

Mother Nature? I can't believe some of you people trying to put the blame on Betsy...when you all know Daniel Boone Coach's could not give up their UT tickets play football. They made every excuse it the book to get out of being embarrassed on live TV. There is no reason they could not play on a Monday or Tuesday like Greeneville. The weather has nothing to do with this. Mother nature is not causing the Boone from making up this game. darn right people get upset when these kids work their butts off and grown men can't give up their personal time to do the right thing and play the contracted game they were scheduled to play. When thousands of dollars are taken out of our program. They don't care about the kids and really need to evaluate wheather they are even cut out for their job. Maybe teaching home economics is better suited for them. It they are allowed to get away with this then it sets a precedent all over the state. When you have a down team and you don't want to play a better team. Heck then we just won't play. It's not a regional game so it doesn't count. Our band members worked their butt off all summer to defend their State Championship and they don't get to preform at a home game until October. Look at all the memories those Boone Coach's have caused them to lose. If Elizabethton ever schedules Boone in any sport again it's not going to be pretty around here...it doesn't matter how many games the Betsy Admin scheduled when teams don't show up to play them..

Do you have proof of your allegations?

  8. Im not really sure what I just read through, but ill say this.

Region games take precedent, so it makes sense for MO West and Boone to be rescheduled first. Either side not wanting to play on the weekend sucks, but it is what it is. Its hard to cancel plans youve had all week late on a Friday night, then try to find travel accommodations to get back down to Morristown.

I agree with the sentiment that Betsy admin screwed the Betsy fans for having so few home games. Maybe they have a hard time finding games, but maybe they should reach out to schools outside the area. Im sure Knox West, Maryville, Alcoa, Fulton (maybe?) ya know other schools with scheduling issues could try to schedule each other then maybe they could find more games. Also I get a smaller school may want to dictate they get to play at home, who wouldnt, instead of traveling an hour to go get beat by 70, and DB is gonna DB theyre not giving up their home games. However, I find it hard to believe schools like West, Maryville, Alcoa wouldnt sign home and home games.

Lastly at the end of the day mother nature won, thats something that neither you or I can control, its frustrating, but thats just how life goes sometimes. If the worst thing you have to worry about is a cancelled high school football game, then youre doing alright.

Since Barney quit giving the William Blount word of the day, I guess I will throw one out there:

The William Blount Word of the Day is Jupiter:

Jupiter get to the Ridge early, or you'll be standing along the fence line.

The visitors seating at West Ridge is far from accomodating.

As a former Rebel, I miss good ole Death Valley. West Ridges stadium just feels flat.

well aren't you particularly attuned to the feelings of the players.  If you went and checked their attendance today, a good 40% of them aren't at school anyway.  Go on with that silliness.

What do you think the normal friday attendance percentage is after a thursday night game?  Sounds like according you we should only play Friday games because otherwise it's a school night...

and why in the heck would they be up at 5 in the morning?

Can you prive that 40% or are you just pulling numbers out of your ####?

Well, I'm not sure what time Greeneville schools start but when I was in school we had to be there at 720.... so I'm sorry up at 6 am I was an hour off, but the point still remains the same.
