Somebody posted on another thread the other day that DB only practices 3 days a week. And during the fall break (1 week) didn't practice at all. I haven't been to a practice in over 10 years, so I don't know. Is this the norm. Is there a TSSAA rule that says you can't practice during fall break or can only practice 3 days a week? Or is our coaching staff this lazy?

The only day DB takes off is Saturday. Film, 4 practices & game the other days. Practiced 3 days Fall break week so only missed 1 practice which is normally Thursday walk through.

I’m calling it now. He will leave the Hurd kid in until the Betsy game. And blame it on Gib when they loose. Then, he will go back to the Hurd kid.

Gib was the starter all spring and summer until the 1st scrimmage.  Had trouble with sideline signals and calling plays and turnovers.  Hurd moved to QB1 at that point

  3. Dabbs was the exact same thing as they were together in November.  Poore agreed to same suspension and then back pedaled on it.  Not surprising as he's not afraid the go against what's ethical (and flirt  with T$$AA rules) if it means Ws. or give in to mommy's telling him their kid will transfer if he doesn't play

  4. Agree that the team seems to be really playing "as a team" and depth is there across the board. Game 6 forward will tell the tale though.  And not at LINEDAD but in several threads folks are complaining about the schedule - -I don't want to see them playing Crockett and Volunteer either, but you have to play who will play you.  When the region was redone(and it would be worse if Wm Blount hadn't asked to move over) the Knoxville schools that had been in the region wouldn't play DB.  Alcoa refused to redo the contract.  Have asked Maryville and Elizabethton for years and they wont agree to play.  These 2 years came down to Volunteer or 9 games(which makes no sense for Betsy not to want to play because they only have 9).

Anyone make the trip to Knox central that can comment on how the scrimmage went?

Thought it went well. Oline was physical but had some busts. RBs ran hard and looked fast. Big QB looked good. Dline & LB were physical—Central couldn’t run the ball. Secondary gave up a long TD and some other longer passes. Played it like a real game not just x number of plays. DB 21-7 with 1s & 2s. 35-14 overall

After watching the 7v7s, the secondary looks worse than before and regressed over the 7v7s.  They looked decent vs Powell but Unicoi torched them twice last week.  Maybe they can get it together over the next month and 3 scrimmages.  Offense looks like it will be explosive -- and it better be based on what I've seen so far.

yes -- Unicoi also lit up Elizabethton both days.  They looked really good.  Real football practice started today so we'll see what happens.

Must of got a good one from what one WB fan told me yesterday. He said while Maryville was at the transfer portal picking up our version of Guarantano while WB was getting a Hendon Hooker.

    So where’d their guy come/comingfrom?

First thing is first, most of this started when Ridge took over and losing to the worst team in the state in 6A Bearden. It really didn't work out good for him at Greenback so why give him the Titanic to drive when he wasn't doing very well with a row boat( Greenback). Then along came Shad with so much baggage from Blackman right in the middle of an investigation when they all but told the middle school coach he was going to be the man. What a stink bomb that was. Then Shad comes in realizing what he had stepped into and applications were hitting every fax machine in the state for coaching vacancies you could think of, even Sequoyah turned him down, I guess someone must read Coach T down there. I will give Robert a benefit of a doubt for one reason and that is he wanted the job and a opportunity plus he has had some experience at Karns in the past. I think Robert is a good man but this won't be an easy job especially after what all this program has been through the past dozen years. I may be wrong because I don't know but someone told me the qb left over a difference in the offense he was going to run but like I say that is from a third party. I know Maryville lost a real good player to WB and we all hope him nothing but the best. Far as spring I have not been to one practice anywhere because I've been busy as a one handed wall paper hanger.

WB QB is now Maryville's QB? reading between the lines in different threads

I think DB ended the season last year with the record most had predicted. But I think they played better for the most part than most thought they would.  Take away that loss to Jefferson Co. that is. I'll put that one on the staff for not having them ready and in the right frame of mind. And they did keep it close for a half at Maryville.  As for next season It's going to depend on how hard they work in the off season, weight room etc. I think they need to ditch the 2 quarterback  system  considering that has never worked well at any time during the history of mankind. Decide on a QB and go with it. By the way I think I remember someone saying the upcoming soph. QB would pass them both up and become the starter? Interesting. I'm going to go out on a limb and say DB will beat Science Hill this year and play Greeneville a close game. 9-1 regular season. But we're all guessing right?

Soph QB was never going to take a meaningful snap. He moved to receiver

Guess daddy's stall ball strategy worked again last night eh... Guess we got outcoached again?

Wonder if you'll be two of the five SH fans who make the trip to West Knoxville on Monday night?

    #RollTribeRoll

I could take 5 guys off the street and beat most anyone if my 5 shoots 70% like DB did last night.  Poore gets to dodge Knoxville(Farragut's JV doesn't count) and get the Tribe to Murfreesboro.  and not a Topper fan

  11. Not sure what team y’all are watching but DB is 6 deep only. Player #7 is nothing but chaos when he comes in & after that the bench only gets garbage minutes. Poore is average at best & has been living off talent alone. Couldn’t get past Knoxville when he had 2 top 10 in DB history scorers plus the oldest Browder. Won’t get past Knoxville this year either & his 6 guard lineup probably won’t get past Mo East/ Sevier County. DB is however the only upper East TN team with a pulse.
