Yes in the regular season. But once Westview's young kids got the experience from the season, they only lost to Dyersburg by a field goal in the playoffs. Westview was young last year. They will be tough this year

If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout

You do know that on a young, down season we only lost to Dyersburg in the playoffs by less than a touchdown?! You act like those two teams are unbeatable and way above our skill level

Didn’t Dyersburg and Covington beat Westview pretty good last year

Maybe the only downside. Just assuming that USJ can get a track scoreboard and the upgrades for it. They host track meets so I know they could (at least) host that sport.

USJ not even close to being able to hold a meet like that

Does Memphis have a place to host the TSSAA Tournament? Yes. Well, there are actually two places.

One place will be the Elma Roane Fieldhouse, which is located on the University of Memphis campus. Let me just say there are high school gyms in West Tennessee that are better than that gymnasium. Murphy Center is head and shoulders over the Elma Roane Field Fieldhouse any day of the week.

The second place would be FedEx Forum. However, I would think the FedEx Forum and the Memphis Grizzlies would have no desire to host the tournament, which will mean the Grizzlies would have to be out of town for 4 straight days, then head back into town for a game or two, then go back out of town. I doubt there's enough money for the Grizzlies to entertain that. With that being said, FedEx Forum would be an amazing place to host the tournament, and for the players to get that experience. Hotels are also pricey in downtown Memphis, and the nearest ones will be in Northern Mississippi, or in the Bartlett area.

    Here's the best case scenario:

East Tennessee will hose Football and Golf state championships

Middle Tennessee will host the basketball tournament (because they are basically two separate tournaments).

West Tennessee will host the Spring Fling and Volleyball state tournaments in Jackson.

Therefore, every region of the state will host two tournaments. I know that is not the case and will likely never be the case, but I do think it's the perfect situation.

Jackson cannot host a state track meet

Plenty of head high school coaches, especially at larger programs with pedigree, get small class schedules and time to get things done.

I've seen head football and basketball coaches get 2 P.E classes, 2 weightlifting, cafeteria duty, and planning. They might be the study hall teacher, alternative school, or something that doesn't require alot of planning and actual teaching.

I think at Dyer County the coach gets 2 basketball periods, 1 P.E class, and a planning. You can't get much easier than that. The supplements used to be $10,000 for boys and girls each.

It's not like this everywhere. I know that.

Making 100,000 a year not a bad gig

Yes it takes breaks and even luck to win it all, but the money is on Dyersburg to go back to back. We are losing three irreplaceable Seniors as each brings a very unique piece to the program. However, there is depth on the varsity roster and more pieces coming from the middle school.

As far as the pressure goes, you have to respect the fact that the Lady Trojans were not flying under anyone’s radar this season after making it to the state quarters then year before. They embraced the target, lived up to the hype, and won the gold ball under the most impossible of circumstances. Yes I am a homer, but there is no way I would bet against Dburg. And not only do I expect them to run the table, I see a Miss Basketball Finalist recognition coming next season.

Only one coming up from middle school that will play most likely replace one senior they are losing

A teenager at their ninth summer camp game in a row on their phone 99% of the time running both the clock and the fouls at the same time would have done a better job trying to keep both the book and the clock during the Dburg/JaxSS girls game than the people they used.  It was so bad it was laughable.  Scoring errors three different times, once not fixed for 30minutes in realtime.  Coaches were told their players have five fouls when they didn't but making the coach sub them out at crucial times in the game.   Only later to be told they could sub that girl back in she only had four.

This is in a one-possession game mid 4th quarter, and then you give the coach a tech when he is frustrated by that so it was the refs too not just score/clockkeepers.  Or at least it was one of the refs.  He was probably in over his head.  He called both techs and gave each coach a bench warning and made over half of the foul calls it seems.  Some leeway needs to be given to coaches especially when the scorekeepers making mistakes all game long and refs are kicking calls.  When you kick a call, just sit there and take your tongue-lashing for a bit and move on, don't double down and follow up your error by then adding a tech to the situation as long as your are not getting cussed out.  Dyersburg was awarded two FTs on a shooting foul that was a made basket and missed the first one and made the second.  When the refs figured out their error they made Dyersburg use the incorrect "And Two" free-throw as actually their first tech FT.  Then about 3 minutes later they shoot the second tech FT but likely wanted their D1 signee shooting them but she wasn't allowed to because the girl that got fouled shooting got the extra.

There were other things happen too but this post is already too long.  It is a shame that what was probably the state championship game between the best two teams in the state had people working the game that were not ready for prime time.  Both coaches and teams were frustrated most of the night.

She actually made the first free throw then we’re wondering why she’s shooting tech not Jordan she missed first one then they figured out they screwed up so they had to let her shoot second tech free throw which she made. Fouls were kept right just the guy posting them was giving them to wrong girls then fans are going by what’s on board which is wrong. Should never happen at state tournament

Does anybody have any clue on why there was a technical foul on Dyersburg? It occurred late in the game, and it was on a player. I was watching the game on TV and struggled to figure it out.

Heard she said that was 5 seconds then he gave her a T that’s when they was setting the record for most fouls called in 2 minutes lol

I’m shocked that SGC beat  Dyersburg.  If Upperman rebounds well and handles the ball pressure they will add another gold ball to the trophy case. Coach Mcwilliams and her team has done a masterful job, preparing the team for their opponents. The girls have executed the game plans to perfection.

I’m shocked Cocke County beat Upperman. If Dyersburg can get the lead and make Upperman play man to man it will be over if not it will be close

We scrimmaged them early November. They are the real deal "when" they are dialed in. 3 D-1 players is what I hear. South Gibson upset them so they can be beat. South Side will match up with them probably better than any team all year.

You’re right when we’re on will be tough to beat but we haven’t been on in a while
