  1. Both d ends return this year, one of them shared playing time at the spot with Mayberry last year. The defense was young last year, only 5 seniors, 4 juniors, and 2 freshman. Both those freshman are ball players too, I’m hoping to see another strong defense this year. I do unfortunately believe you are correct abt the virus. It’s gonna be rough on teams this year all the way around. Gotta stay positive.
  2. I was very impressed with Wall and his defense as well, the defense was fire on all cylinders did the most part last year. As you said they will have to replace both Brady’s, and brock and dalton tucker on the d line, I’d imagine so more young kids will have to step up on the d line this year and at corner to feel Brady’s spot. Did they lose both corners to graduation or is Brooks still there?
  3. I love the optimism but it seems covid has already hit waverly hard in the first week, almost 100 kids from the school wer quarantined yesterday evening. Our covid protocol is terrible, contact tracing, automatically gone.
  4. Yeah Cheatham co won’t be waverly, Fairview, White House, and maybe not even whh. Having great coaches is perfect. But they can only set a team up to win. They can’t play the game for you. I can tell you right now cheatham won’t have the athletes to play with waverlys offense, too versatile. The defense will just out athlete them boys y’all got over there son. And make a team in the schedule that is better than westview or riversides offense.
  5. The first real day of school for these kids too
  6. Scrimmage tonight has been cancelled
  7. And I am also impressed with how things are shaping up for the eagles, they have a good season ahead to look forward to. As a waverly fan, I am giving credit where credit is do. The hit waverly in the face a few times and did not back down from the name across the chest. Good luck to all this season.
  8. He’s not Montez at all, but he’s just as good as Montez, they are both monsters, nobody wants to hit someone like that, and Houston will take it to a person every play, whether it’s blocking for his qb or another rb, or if it’s running the ball, he won’t take a play off no matter what, that’s the only problem I seen from Tez throughout his career, Houston’s ability to help lead this team along with the other seniors is big too. And yes, jd, a different type of player that’s for sure, but we didn’t get to see these receivers make plays Bc they weren’t given the opportunity much at all during the scrimmage, possibly Bc coach don’t wanna show much, I would like to see these receivers get chances to make plays and get into open space and be athletes, I know they are all very capable of a huge play at any moment.
  9. You are 100% correct, outside of the squad Coach Boldin had his first year, all waverly teams had been good since 2014, very good, and that team wasn’t bad his first year, just a transition to a new head coach thst would be difficult for most teams. To say this waverly team couldn’t play with them may be stretch, like I said, I completely agree with you when you say those 3 teams were great, loaded with dogs all over the field, but this team here has something special, they just gotta put the very few missing pieces in the right spot, and I think they’re right with those 3 teams by the time mid season comes, plus this team is also very young.
  10. Milan? Westview? McKenzie? Just 3 off the top of my head
  11. This team is similar but there’s a lot of differences as well. One main difference that sticks out to me is the experience. If you remember, which I’m sure you do Bc you’re son was a part of that team, that defense was probably the best this school had seen, and they had experienced upperclassmen on that defense. This defense has, based off the scrimmage, 4 seniors on the defensive side of the ball. Luckily the majority of the youngsters out there on that defense was also on it last year. Of course there’s not a player on this team with the speed of JD or the athletic ability of the other big 2, but as a whole overall, this team has around 10 players that are athletic enough to push this team deep in the playoffs, if the injury bug stays away.
  12. Thank you for the welcome vandy. I’ve been on the site for 3 years now, just as a guest. I decided to join Bc I see people like plugged who don’t have a clue abt this tiger team. Just basing how the season will go off of one scrimmage, where mistakes are suppose to be made so you can fix them and prevent them from happening in the crucial times of the season. Example, we need to fix the interior of the defense Bc East did move it fairly easy at times on the defense.
  13. You’re the most obnoxious poster I’ve seen in this thread so far so I wouldn’t be talking too much if I were you. I will be back to revisit. I will be back at exactly week 6 to let you know how good the tigers are doing. The faithful fans know exactly what to expect of this talented team. You will see too.
  14. Everyone seems to be forgetting that this is the first scrimmage for all teams, the first chance for all teams to be on the field with a different color jersey. There’s gonna be mistakes by all teams, even the best. That’s what scrimmages are for, to fix your mistakes. This is the first time teams have seen others since late November. New faces in new positions. I can promise you waverly will have that defense stouted up before week 1 against Camden.
