  1. Nervous/anxious about this game, but really exited to see how the Mustangs stack up against this talented MAHS team. They are for sure going to look better than us while both teams are warming up! These kids are HUGE. I just hope we come out fast and play physical football. Go Mustangs!

I remember in 2013 Mitchell came to Huntingdon and spanked us 40 to 28. The band showed up at halftime and never stopped playing. I remember their kicker hitting 50 yarders with ease in warm-ups.

That group of kids from Mitchell were massive and played pretty physical. That band was nuts too lol I don't believe this Mitchell team will have enough for the Stangs. We are going to "out-physical" them on the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Going to be a dry, sunny day in Paul Ward Friday! Playoff ball is finally here.

The only Memphis team I would keep an eye on is MAHS, they have athletes and a good coach in there. Only thing is they hadn’t played competition of what Huntingdon has played this season besides Brighton

I agree. I don't want the Mustangs to look ahead, but from a fans viewpoint, that MAHS team concerns me. Especially since Huntingdon would have to travel that round. Have to take care of business against Memphis Mitchell first though.

  4. I don't think weather conditions will dictate this game that much due to the playing style both teams have. Really excited to have a great program like Union City on our schedule each year again. So many good games and memories from watching these teams go at it in years past.

Like Huntingdon, Union City has a talented Freshman and Sophomore class. This could be the game of the season for each team the next couple of years. Good luck to both squads.

  5. Like it was mentioned in an earlier post, the Mustangs cannot get themselves in 3rd and long situations. When we were forced to pass against Westview in 3rd and long situations, it didn't end well. Not downing our QB at all. He's a special talent. Don't turn the ball over and we have a shot at keeping this close with a shot to win at the end. Paul Ward will be jumping Friday night! Super excited we get to host a respected program like Peabody.

I would be surprised if either team holds the other to only 14 points.  I see more like 28-21 game, maybe more.

I agree. I would say both teams strengths are going to be there offense. Could the weather slow each team down a bit? Maybe, but I don't think it will change much.

  7. I agree, like I said in as previous post, the Rebels should be the favorite. We won't be able to match their speed at the skill positions, but our line is big and physical. Our problem last year was coughing up the football and giving the Rebels great field position early in the game and that we dug ourselves in a hole. If we hold on to the ball, play physical at the line of scrimmage (which I fully expect us to do), and catch a couple breaks in the secondary, I think we could surprise some folks and win this game.

I really like Westview. I believe they could really make some noise in 2a this year. They brought their old coach back on staff and he knows how to build a defense.

I don't know if they have what it takes to make to the gold ball but they certainly are going to be hard to beat.

They are a top 5 team at the very least. With their passing attack, they are going to be very dangerous in 2A. If protection and defense show improvement, they'll be hard to handle.

  9. I still need to see my Mustangs play this Friday against Covington to really see where we are, but no doubt the Rebels are favored in this one. It will be hard to match McKenzie's speed, especially at the skill positions. Either way I'm excited to get this season underway.

It’s going to be a long painful season unless COVID shortens it. That’s my take on it.

New to Coach T, but long time Mustang Fan. I understand we may not have the horses in the backfield like we have in years past, but I don't think thing season is going to be that painful. We are going to be outmanned against a couple of opponents, but this new schedule has me very excited to see some competitive, hard hitting games. We have not had that in years past throughout the entire regular season.
