Really quiet in Madison.....not even listed on TSSAA.......Hard to get exposure when no one is even talking about you...

TSSAA realigns DIV II into two classes instead of three , I would assume it will benefit Goodpasture.

Quite a few still do. Not an optimum situation, but we still do a lot. You play with what you have. I know coach Floyd tries to platoon as much as possible.

The problem is in many places the numbers of kids willing to do the work to play are down. At one time it was not unusual to see 80 to 90 kids on the Bradley sidelines all the time. Cleveland had 40 to 60 and even Charleston had good numbers.

Oakland and teams like them that still have good numbers need to enjoy it. I really see the continuing drop in numbers of kids willing to get out and do the practices in the heat cold and rain to play football.

This year's Copper Basin had a total of 18 players on a 1A team.

I get it , don't see how small schools do it . You guys have a great environment so don't see why kids miss chance to be apart of it.

This is from an outsider looking in, so keep that in mind.....    From what I have been able to see Oakland just basically lines up and runs the ball right at you for 4 quarters.     Not trying to act like an NFL throw-it-60x type of offense.         Upperman apparently does the same thing and ran all over Greeneville last night.          My opinion, and that's all it is, is that too much emphasis is placed on HS teams trying to run a spread NFL offense with complicated schemes and routes, instead of focusing on doing the basic fundamentals better than all the other teams you play.       It can be done at the HS level for sure, but year-in & year-out very few schools have the skillsets necessary to successfully live and die on a NFL offense.            Now maybe that only works with the right personnel, i.e., O-line that averages 290 plus a group of tough hard-nosed RB's who are not afraid of collision.      Plus, let's face it, 5 yards & a cloud of dust is a rather boring offensive scheme, so could it be that egos demand looking like a mini NFL team?                 Whatever your view on this, keep in mind that Oakland & Upperman are in their respective title games next week while the rest of us are out Christmas shopping.

Agree, run the ball ! Weather not going affect as much on bad nights late Nov. Oakland has seen 9 to11in box all year. I have said OL/DL for Oakland been dominate as they were Friday night , blocking from TE and other backs Friday was impressive against BC talented secondary who were in box all night. Morris had 34 touches so everyone knew who was getting the ball , 4th quarter from mainly Wildcat formation. That's dominating line of scrimmage when you know its a run and who's getting it and still successful.

It's not gonna be fair trying to tackle him or Morris next year, not that Jones is any slouch nut he's not a big feller like Haynesworth

I predict Haynesworth will be Oaklands starting ILB next year. Morris I believe will be a DB/return specialist in college. Likely used situationally next year mainly (RB) offense and defense like Boo Carter.

November 30, 3:00 EST in Chattanooga.

Cougars had their hands full with CA; Commanders plowed a row on NC after being down 14. I believe Wolcott got the TDs he needed to lead the state in career TDs. Wilson had 221 yards against CA. This is rematch of week 6.

    Go Cougars!!

Good luck CD2 , my only prediction is both bus drivers should stay close this game may be over in one hour fifteen minutes.

  6. I give big respect to this Oakland team . It seems all year they have been made out to be less than years past by media and maybe some of own supporters. The 21-22 year with James , Patterson , & Horton went perfect 15-0. At this point James had 158 touches 1283 yards 22 Tds, Patterson 111 touches 801 yards 10 Tds. The 21-22 defense had allowed 172 points thus far , todays team 110 points. Isaiah Horton was big piece of 21-22 offense as well 860 yards 7 Tds. Horton definitely kept defenses honest with vertical threat. Morris has had 241 touches for 2216 yards 27 Tds. Jones 158 touches 1201 yards 19Tds. The production greater offensively this season vs 21-22 which gets me to the point , this years Oline/Dline have been under sold. Offensively the box has been loaded since week one and still had great production . My MVP is do it all TE/T/HB Duce Hewitt. Oakland as last week and this week plays teams with 3 or 4 kids list as top 50 prospects yet they have none. Bigs keep taking your lunch box mentality for next 2 weeks to work.

Here we go! Round #2, some great games this week!

JC at CA: Even with loss of their leading scorer, JC will come to play, but the CA ground pounding may be too much. I'll take CA in this one

FACS at MTCS: FACS is pretty balanced with a stable of running backs behind the senior, and almost 1,000 in the air. The MTCS D line will be the difference maker here, and Wilson is healthy at RB. Oh, and I am a homer, so yea, MTCS wins.

NC at Trinity: This one is going to be a great game. Like last week it depends on which NC team shows up (the real one showed up in the Boro). Trinity is a disciplined, balanced, machine. This is my upset pick - NC. (sorry Reitz, something here makes me nervous for you guys)

DCA at FC: Same results as earlier in the season. If DCA can hold Wolcott to < 150 yds. they might have a chance. But naw, that aint happening. I got FC in this one.

CA dub good overall team with good offensive, good RB.  MTCS great run attack with Eli Wilson and committee at RB , hard deceptive offense to stop. They have best off/ def balance good both sides of the ball. Defense going carry MTCS to Chatt.  Trinity , NC QB cant do it alone, unless he rushes for more yards then he passes for this week . DCA , better balance on offense ,QB can throw ball to multiple kids  . FC offense 1kid all year, mileage catches up and 10 defenders in the box. Passing game non existent.

    Booger just sayin :thumb:

100% , BA QB 2-9 with way more supporting cast. Both need to stay and elevate surrounding talent into playoffs. Both going be great college QBs, so stay deal with hard times and grow from it.

Anyone have any suggestions/predictions for Mr. Football?

    Heres mine

6A- #6 from Bradley, #6 from Bearden, Collierville QB, Corner from Riverdale, DB from Oakland, QB from Bradley

5A- #8 from Clinton, QB from Clinton, #22 from OR, #6 DE from Powell

I'm sure there are some that I am missing from Middle/West TN

Is it stat based, winning games(how many),reputation, recruitment, popularity, media coverage, best overall athlete? I've never understood what these "voters" base it on. 6A stats RB Bartlett rushing yds, QB  Riverdale passing yards, Scoring Oaklands duo, Receiving Riverdale WR, winning, popularity, recruitment Boo Carter, media coverage Collierville QB.

This is absolutely correct. There should also only be 4 classes in the public sector.  9 gold balls is like a participation trophy.

Definitely , 9 is ridiculous.  I'd love to get back to A, AA, AAA but never going happen.

Bingo- but what if he did. smoke….fire.

That's a TSSAA rule not individual schools. If athlete family decides the 8th grader is going play in varsity game they are married. The 8th grader can dress for varsity game just not play.

I would say lipscomb is the one withholding specifics knowing they still have some details that could result in longer or more harsh penalties.
    short version

    -LA on probation for tweet

-MS kids move in, not legal, takes another kids spot.
-former starting kids dad tells tssaa those new kids are illegal, not living with family.

-tssaa investigates and finds it true.
forfeits game and says they will ponder over it the next 7 weeks further actions

-another complaint comes in to tssaa
-another kid that was an 8th grader under dilfer transfers to local school…let’s call them Ensworth. He finds out he is ineligible because LA won’t release him.

    - preacher (the dad) is so upset with admin that he shares several text messages that are from a new LA coach maybe some old texts from previous LA coaches that “seem” to be recruitingish texts that is strike 3 against LA.

this is not going to be in the Tennessean, but for sure at your barbershop, not the barbershop that Trent built.

8th grader doesn't have to be released by school he/she previously attended unless they played in varsity game during 8th grade season.

  13. I may be wrong but wasn't the probation LA got last year to athletic department over some type of marketing not just football ? I gotta believe this is all about QB in/out from MISS. Say what you want about TD but he wasn't the one who brought this kid to LA and I don't believe LA has below average year this season if he's still coaching them. The guy worked non stop and his kids went 6 days a week during season. He also put his own money up for high end helmets for the kids and fed them non stop. My sons played else where but we worked with independent  trainers at LA facility on Saturdays, saw first hand the time those kids worked. I get TSSAA enforcing rules but timing really bad , day of your last game. D2AAA already lacks volume of teams to make a full bracket (1-9) teams in playoffs. Make them 0-10 play from last place and impose your ban next 2 years. The seniors can finish careers and under classman can go elsewhere next year if football is why they attend the school.

Was a smart move on Jordan's part following Lanning to Oregon where he knew there would be carries to be had. James doesn't have one elite skill, but he can do a little bit of everything, which will serve him well and your right about splitting carries.

Unless your a genetic freak like Derrick Henry, NFL teams look down on TBs that have alot of mileage before they get to the pros

Question not relevant but you have a lot of knowledge on high school football. Max prep and I know it doesn't matter about rating till DEC but do they value private Div II AAA  inter league games more than 6A. Ex: Mcallie is rated 59 strength of schedule 33 , Baylor 54 strength 34 , MUS 45 strength14 . 6A you have Germantown 44 strength 14, Oakland 42 strength 19. I get strength of schedule, but is rating due to they value DivII AAA league inter schedule to be harder than 6A?  Only comparison I saw was Oakland / Mcallie scrimmage and it was close with Mcallie by a couple points but Oakland didn't have many key players participate. Morris didn't play Jones played 1 series , Haynesworth out, couple DBs out. Oakland dominated MBA was not close with those key players out or limited. So I guess my question how is the rating based. Strength of schedule without Oakland game vs Center Grove would it be way lower?

l see people wanting to bet on BHS vs BCHS now. Before you place you bets on this game here is some info. BCHS averages  scoring 34.3 points on offense and gives up 10.5 points on defense . BHS averages scoring 27.7 on offense and gives up 18.8 points on defense. l know the overall schedules have a different degree of difficulty and you can take that into account. You can also compare the common opponents scores. A couple of games to look at in comparing scores are McMinn County held OR to 3 points. OR scored 29 on BHS. BCHS beat McMinn County 41-21. l am sure BHS vs BCHS will be a highly competitive game.

Great information but Tennessean(George Robinson) put out top100 players in TN for this year Bradley Central has two in top 10, one up for Mr Football, Four in top 100. Bearden only had two (22nd and 77th) No Mr Football Candidate. The sleeper cell going be Riverdale with 3 in top 50, one up for Mr Football. Bearden fans don't feel bad poor Oakland had 2 in the back (82nd and 94th), No Mr Football and none on offense. I'm sure you want to put your bets behind BC and the Oakland under, lol

Question about why Middle Tennessee Football looks the way it does ?  With all the growth in the city I would think teams talent level would be high across the board.

What has happened to MBA, Ensworth, and BA seemingly they are down more than ever thought possible ?  Lipscomb has moved up a division and Mawai didn’t bring in a fresh recruiting class. Will they be able to compete at a higher level ? CPA seems to be one of the few programs performing  at a high level. How would they do in the bigger division ?

Are the Williamson county schools down ?  Franklin fired their coach and Centennial is having a great year.  Other than that I haven’t heard much.

Is Oakland all Rutherford County has playing at a championship level ?

Pearl Cohn beat CPA so I guess they are the flagship school in Metro ?  Overton ?

    could someone provide some insight

If the NIL takes off in high school Ensworth ,MBA ,BA will all become top programs. I think Williamson county has so many options for private schools it waters down the talent pool. Having 9 divisions in high school football to many below average clubs making it into playoffs. CPA is well coached lost its QB to injury, they should have moved up DivIII . PC does a great job of keeping kids in public program, they are involved in interacting with peewee, JV football. Oakland has elite program, only had 3 kids in TN top 100 prospects first one 66, tells me coached very well. Riverdale having great year with 3 kids in TN top 100 all in top 40 of ranking. Rutherford county doesn't have a lot of private options so a lot of talent in public schools. Overton no clue other than 2 great private schools less than a mile away.
