  1. Columbia has their 4th coach in 4 years. Coach Goff is a legend amongst the Columbia football community. He has surrounded himself with an incredible staff. A roster of 80 plus for the first time in years. They took it to CPA. They have athletes all over the field and they’re physical. Should be a great game!

My predicted order of finish is:

    1. Tullahoma
    2. Shelbyville
    3. Lawrence Co.
    4. Lincoln Co.
    5. Columbia
    6. Franklin Co.
    7. Spring Hill

Don’t overlook Columbia and what they got going on now. They got over 80 kids out and talent all over the field. They’ll be dangerous.

This, I actually had to read this twice to make sure this poster was not talking about Hohenwald.

So, as I understand this, the coach is essentially walking into the same exact situation he was in?

If anyone has any doubts what-so-ever, I can tell you exactly how it will be for Central. As soon as the contracts with Giles County and Lewisburg are up, one will be swapped out with some basketball school such as Unionville. Look for the other one to be swapped with the likes of little ole Collinwood. Of course, they will keep Mount Pleasant and as long as Mount Juliet is down, they will stay on the schedule. From here on out (may take two years for contracts to cycle out) they will have at least five wins due to out of region scheduling. Add in just how bad Spring Hill and Lincoln County are and Winchester doesn’t look like they care about football and you will have at least seven minimal or more like eight win seasons. The region will come down to them playing one team, us! (Bout like Hohenwald/Riversburg or Hohenwald/Chapel Hill).

Now, before I ask if anyone can see the similarities between what is going to be Central’s schedule and Hohenwald's the past three decades, I do want to point out we did make it to and play in the state championship game.

As long as Central stays in 5A and our county brothers stay in 6A, look for Central to have high regular season winning percentages with early round playoff exits!

    Y’all heard it here first!

Mt Juliet was a playoff game, not on the schedule.  Green Hill however was and is on the schedule.

Here's a question: Will he be able to implement the Wing T into Centrals football program? Will they accept it? I know the RPO is the dominant offense now and that offenses change and evolve but will it work in big boy football? I also know that some of the other larger schools still run the Wing T. It seems that they have been doing so for years, however.

Another thing; I remember when McCurry left Lynchburg for Lewisburg and brought that offense with him. They didn't fare too well. I'm not sure if that was due to the offense or kids or it seems like it may have been some type of coaching problem(s) from an assistant coach. I don't think he fared too well with it in Winchester, either.

We ran the wing-T this year

I have always felt that Columbia, if they ever got it all together, could be a top, and I mean a very top, program. Hopefully, for the Lions, Coach Sharp and Coach Moore can be the ones.

Agreed! That’s exactly why I believe Coach Sharp made this move! Talent has never been an issue at Columbia. They haven’t gotten it right since Coach Belew retired, until yesterday!

Very interesting hire. I wonder why Moore was not good enough to hire. Even better question is will Moore stay?

He is staying. Former staff bashed Coach Moore to death to the parents after they were let go which may have been their biggest accomplishment in the 5 years they were there considering they had a 7-22 region record and 23-31 overall record from 2016 to 2020.

Why you? Not like you have anything to do with it. Hope it ends well, but I have a bad feeling about this.

I feel bad for John Moore above all of it. He did a great job considering what he inherited and when he got to start. He has been down there a long time for them to do this to him.

Agreed. Former staff that was full of youth football coaches bashed the man to death to the current parents. Coach Moore did a great job but he fully supports and loves Coach Sharp and he has plans to be on his staff.

:popcorneater: interesting to see who gets a better hire, CA or Central?

This shouldn't even be close. CA just fired their all-time winning coach, not because he forgot how to coach, but because they are now playing against other private schools who recruit better than them.  CA has no problem recruiting in softball or basketball but when it comes to football, not happening.  Doesn't matter who they hire.  If they don't recruit like the teams they are playing, they are not going to be competitive. They won 2 games in 2020 and 3 games in 2021.

As far as Central goes, talent is no issue.  Discipline and Structure is. They got that this year and finished 7-4 with a staff that was put together 30 days before the first game. If rumors are true about who they are hiring, it may be the best hire in the State, not just in Columbia!

Most around the program would probably assume it is Anderson's. CA has not held a head football coaching search in over 20 years (Mote), so interested to see if they stay in house again.

Rumor has it that its going to be Michael Harrison (in house) who was on Lansdell staff and former Perry County and Hickman County head coach.

The way of society these days. This group will be replaced by another.

I sadly agree!  Hopefully wither its Coach Moore or not, they'll bring in a Head Coach that will set expectations and hold the kids and the parents accountable and if the parent's and kids can't, they need to be gone!  I'd much rather lose for a couple seasons by getting rid of those who don't or won't buy in to get the culture right!

If they have any sense John Moore

Agreed! Unfortunately a bunch of mom's aren't fans of their kids being held accountable by anyone!  God bless the person who takes this job!  Could be one of the best 5A jobs in the state, especially after this group of entitled parents are gone!

Exactly . Made a change less than a month before the season started. Having a good season doesn't change the fact that this situation was handled very poorly

What was the situation? Do you work for the MCPS or CCHS?  You claim it was handled poorly, do you have 100% facts or hearsay?

  13. 4 minutes ago, MidTennFootball said:

Same can be said for Green Hill. They haven't always won pretty, but they've found ways to win, which is surprising given how young the program is and says a lot about their coaching staff

Agreed, Columbia had a coaching change July 12th. Went from the spread to the wing-t  and to a 4-3 from a 3-4 in a month before the first game with a completely new staff.

This is going to blow up in their face.

Still waiting for the shrapnel to hit as we advance to the second round....team improved to a 4-1 region record vs a 1-4 record last year. 7-4 overall now. Also beat Mt Juliet last week in the first round by 20. Hosted a playoff game for the first time in 9 years.  The programs first win vs a 5A team that finished the season with a winning record since November of 2012! Brand new offense and brand new defense installed 30 days prior to first game.  Again still waiting for the shrapnel....

  15. Columbia goes to Green Hill again after a 28-14 loss back in September.  This Lions team is healthy and completely different than it was for the first meeting!  Not going to make a prediction because I don't want to jinx them but I will say this....Lion Nation is confident and ready to roll!

  16. Columbia’s two losses which were non-region were to two very good teams, Marshall County and Green Hill. Showdown with Page on October 1 could determine region champ! Page would still have to play Nolensville after Columbia. Columbia finishes the year hosting Lincoln County and playing Spring Hill on the road!

    Prediction

Columbia or Page 1 or 2

    Nolensville 3

    Franklin County 4
