  1. Marion has the best all around team in this match up but ER has a few playmakers that will be hard to stop.

I seen a few comments talking about Marion and penalties. ER has to be careful too because they have been known to get a lot of yellow flags against them.

This game will come down to Jasper stopping the run. If they can do that then I think they will come out on top but that isn't a simple task. Marion passing game has been hit or miss this season and in this weather I don't think you will see to many pass attempts tonight.

Marion has to get the ball into Sam Pickett's hands and let one of their best all around playmakers shine tonight.

I think Marion causes a turnover late and pulls out a tough game.

    MC - 34

    ER - 26

True, heard the money wasnt even close also.

The money wouldn't be close but the QB club down in South Pittsburg would make sure he is well taken care of. All of the past coaches have gotten " bonuses " to make sure they are happy. You don't think Vic could have went to a bigger school? Sure he could have, but he was well taken care of in SP as they would Rankin.

  3. Out of all the schools I have heard SP makes the most sense. Why go somewhere and worry about a rebuild when you can go to SP and continue winning? He will be able to build a real nice staff at SP and they will become a powerhouse again in 1A.  He will also be able to get talent from surrounding schools because kids will want to play for a proven winner. If he has family in Murfreesboro and Chattanooga then why not split it and coach SP and keep his legacy intact?

South Pittsburg has been best program in 1A since Trousdale left but let gets something straight the Gordonsville Tigers are NOT getting blown out come Friday. We have the best QB in 1A football and he is gonna show up and show out come Friday. You South Pittsburg fans are obnoxious and in for a rude awakening. I am told from good sources last weeks game against Clay County was worse they have played all year and they got rattled. Well we wont get rattled. I know some of our boys are VERY confident we are coming to win. They have been preparing for this game for weeks. Gordonsville is about to show why us Trousdale and Watertown are all for real this year.

Lol! This is the best comment of the week. Hopefully you will get back on the SP thread next week and comment after that best 1A QB gets put out this week. SP will win this game by a good margin. I understand supporting your team but this is just funny.

  5. I think this will be one heck of a game. I think Marion will have to watch film this week and head to Watertown with a gameplan and execute. I know that's easier said than done but I think Marion has a chip on their shoulder as well as Watertown. This will be a good one but I still have to give Marion the very close edge in this one.

Marion county is full of classless pieces of redneck trash that want to holler at kids that played their last game and cuss them and also get mad at radio announcers.

I remember a few years ago these 2 teams played in the playoffs and I remembering this happening from the Westmoreland side. All schools have those types of fans. You can't judge a whole fanbase off a few fans. I have always felt welcomed at Marion. Same goes for the Westmoreland fanbase. I have met some very nice people from there but like I said above I have heard the same coming from Westmorland fans as well but I'm not judging them all off a few peoples actions.

Not too many facts being spit here brotha!

Wasn't the 30+ point win that I thought it would be but a 21 point win. I will say that Westmoreland put up more of a fight than I thought but having some key players out for Marion hurt too. I will give my props to Westmoreland players as they fought hard but Marion is on a mission right now and I don't see anyone stopping them until they meet Meigs again. Even then I still think Marion pulls it out.

Marion might win but i would leave the how ever much they want part out. I have seen this eagle team play several times and if you think they will quit at any part of the game your bad wrong. The record may not be that good but they got want to and spunk. The buzzards as i call them are by far not a push over and your in for a rude time if your thinking that.

I guess I'm in for a rude time then. I am not a fan of either team but I am here to tell facts. As much as it sounds as if I am bashing Westmoreland I promise you I am not. I wish them nothing but the best in this game as I do all teams in the state playing this week. I am just here to tell you that Marion will be a wrecking ball because they want another shot at Meigs and I think they will get it. Marion took a humbling L last week. They will control this game on both sides of the ball. Once again I wish Westmoreland the best of luck but Marion is a team that is hungry and they are going to eat.

I don’t think Westy will upset Marion, but I’m pretty confident that it will not be a 30 point difference.

Westy is real stingy on D and play tough ( your kids will know they’ve been there)

I’ll put the score somewhere around 21-0.

I'm going to say 41-6 MC

  10. Marion will come out strong in this one. I had to eat crow after that Meigs game but I won't be eating crow after this one. Marion by how ever much they want. I think this will be a 30+ point win for Marion as they will have the young guys in early in the second half. There is no upset watch here.

  11. I just hope the Meigs loss humbles Marion. I don't want the Marion kids to go in dwelling on it. Westmorland has a decent defense but this is a game where Marion can open up a bit and try more passes to try and get it down. They need to include #4 in their passing game more. I doubt I will make the trip to Jasper from Dunlap this week to watch it but I will be keeping up.

  12. I will eat crow on this one. I said Marion by 14 and boy was I wrong. I traveled to this one and what I saw was a Meigs team that came out physical and hit Marion in the mouth and Marion didn't know how to respond. Out coached and out played. I seen adjustments be made in the 2nd half by Marion that should have been made in the 1st qt. I seen kids not wrapping up tackles land looking like we're afraid of contact. I think Marion will regroup and I still think they can make a run. I honestly hope to see this matchup again. On to next week.

Remember, "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth".   It happened to Meigs 3 years ago in the 2nd round of the playoffs.  A team they'd handily beat during the season came to Meigs and beat them.  Never, never, never underestimate your opponents desire.

I am not underestimating anyone. I know from experience that the favored team doesn't always win. I have been on the bad side of that because of poor execution. What I mean from by my previous post is that Meigs and MC have the best chance to meet up again and decide who will represent the east in 2A.  I wish the other teams well. I think Tyner will be tougher in the playoffs for MC than they were in the regular season but I still think MC can control the clock and the game. The same goes for any team they play right now. They are clicking at the right time and a win tonight will give them a big boost of confidence going into the playoffs. I just hope that they don't get overly confident. I am not an MC fan by any means but this team has a huge o line that is playing real well, they have depth in the backfield, they have weapons that can get open down field ( qb just has to get it there ), their defense is playing really good, and they have a good special teams unit. Depth and clock management is what I think will give this MC team a deep run. Will they play for state? I can't say that it will be them but I do think it will be MC or Meigs.

This is true and only my opinion. Tyner, Trousdale and Watertown all will be tough opponents.

Not saying that it will be easy but Marion can beat these teams as they have shown with Tyner. I have seen people say that Tyner had a " off " game against MC but I don't think that is the case. Tyner is kind of young this season and even though I think they will be a lot better next season they will still knocked out early this season. Trousdale and Watertown are 2 teams that could give MC a game but I think it would be close for only a half. I personally think that as long as each team can stay healthy that this is a preview of the game that will determine who will represent the east in 2A.

I wouldn't bet money on these two teams meeting again in the playoffs. There are other teams capable of beating either of them on a given night - like the Tyner Rams, as an example.  You take it one game at a time and do your best to win and play for another day. History has taught us that no team is guaranteed a spot at the Big Dance.

The chance of these 2 teams meeting up again are pretty high. They just have to stick to their game plans each week and execute.
