He’s not coming back to Maryville. Maryville has a great coach, and it’s his dream job. I’m sure tons of high schools will come calling for GQ. But I doubt he’d come back to the high school ranks, except maybe BA or another big time private school. If I was betting, he’ll get another chance as an offensive coordinator or assistant in the college ranks. He’s one of the best offensive minds in the country, and I’m not exaggerating. If you spend 5 minutes with him talking about offense, it’s obvious.
I don't think George would take the MHS job if he wants back in HS coaching. He would not do that to Derek Hunt.

No one will come to Clinton in 2024. If Keith was smart he would leave, but he does not seem smart. He had his best sales pitch being his son's talent for four years and now he is gone. Go out while you're on top.
I heard the Harriman starting QB will start for CHS in 2024. My nephew's son starts for Harriman and this is a powerful rumor. A DT for CHS was also on Harriman's roster before 2023 season.

Coach Gaddis told me pre season 2023 that Josh said 2024 is Bearden's year. We'll see, it was a darn good team in 2023.

They said on the radio it’s packed on both sides.
It nearly was. We sat on the visitor side and there wasn't a lot of open seats and we sat on the end part of the stands and you know that stadium is huge.

Made the hour drive to watch this game. Was really impressed with both teams, but as one poster said above, that massive Oakland OL was the difference. Oakland’s speed on defense is really impressive. The size of their OL and the speed on defense really stuck out to me.
Looked like a Junior College D backfield. I was wondering if the 2 OT's might be UT prospects.

Welp, nothing changes for me. BC has a very talented team with several D1 players. Something BC is not used to having it seems. Over the years during the Creasy era at Oakland and seeing every home game for the last 8 years up until this year, I have seen tons of these athlethes. Both on Oakland and the other RuCo teams. Last year Blackman had 3-4, Riverdale had a few this year and Oakland has had more than their share of them. I've watched Jacoby Stevens that went on to play and win a national championship with LSU and make it to the pros. Jordan James who is having a very good season at Oregon. Trey Knox that played at Arkansas and transferred to another big school. Can't remember which. Master Teague that played at Ohio State and countless others I can't recall right now that have played for Power 5 schools. Point is that this Oakland team is used to having and playing against these guys. They are experienced. They have been there before and knows what it takes. Trust me that the moment will not be too big for them when they face BC and their talented D1 guys. Should be a good game but I have to stick with the experience and our own D1 guys which Oakland has many now. Looking for a good game with Oakland coming out on top and a chance to make it four 6A titles in a row. Never been done.
Titan,
You were very close to being a prophet. Excellent pre game prognosis.

I would be shocked if Keith came back next season.
Nope, he's gonna be back. My nephew's son starts for Harriman and Harriman's QB will be Clinton"s QB in 2024. He told me it's a done deal. That tells me Coach Keith ain't leaving Clinton.

2 years ago down at Chattanooga Central #3 tried to play after taking a hard hit and you could tell he was concussed in that game because of the way he was playing after that hit. They finally brought in the backup QB at the time which was the younger Thackerson kid. Thackerson almost brought them back and won the game but they fell just a little bit short.
This is controversial to say, but, IMO, Thackerson should have started his JR and SR seasons. I know that will make some upset, I am not the only fan who thinks that.

Oak Ridge beat Grace Christian last night, neither the girls or boys from Grace did very well against the Cats.
Hi there rebelwoman87!
Grace has a low post player that was really good though. #22.

Livingston Academy I believe. They started 0-5 and ended up winning 10 straight.
I think Maryville won a state title after a 4-6 season under Quarles years ago,
BTW, congrats on the Dragons big win, I hated to see it, but I am happy for you and your city and school.

Here we go this will be like last year. Probably could go either way. Both are hitting stride. They both are playing lights out football. I am not picking this one yet.
But good luck to both teams.
Agree with Mavericks here. 2 darn good teams and they know every move each other makes. Just because they have won lately, I'm gonna say West. Lamar seems to win games. I know Matt is a great coach, too.
I might have to attend this one.

Yeah, they kept picking on the freshman and he got burned a few times. Lessons learned.
A sophomore DB thought OR was in cover 2 and they were in man and that last long pass was the final CHS score.
The freshman got burnt earlier for sure.
The only thing I got upset at was CHS last kick off. The kid can't kick the ball far and when he tried we scored, so they went to the squib kick and why we didn't bring another kid up I can't fathom. They kicked the ball from their 35 and we got it around our 30. That's Fd up. OR should have had that ball around the CHS 45 or the 50. That was just not using your brain stuff.
-
Personally, I didn't think the refs played any role at all. CHS just had the best 2cd half of ball I saw all season, especially on D. OR could not do anything regrdless of why in the 2cd half.
Congrats to the Mighty Dragons

Some good games besides our's.
Bearden and Jeff
Maryville and Bradley
Powell and Sevier CO.

I was told that Catholic beat Oak Ridge in a scrimmage last night. I’m sure both teams were missing players due to the football playoffs.
OR is missing 2 guys, but, neither starters. If Catholic beat OR, they're probably just better than us.

Very high tuition compared to most schools around here.
If his parent works for OR school system I think tuition is waived. I haven't heard of anyone in Kingston and I know a ton of them about any special youngster there to be honest. I think the poster above made that up.

We are playing better now then the first go around. This one will be closer than people think. People have OR sleep walking to the semi's. I have to ride the wave right now and say somehow we get it done. Big night for the Dragons!
Clinton - 28
OR - 27
It could happen. I think OR is the better team though. OR should win the game. We'll see Friday night.

They played twice in 1943 with Clinton winning both games 20-0 and 13-0.
They have never played each other in the playoffs.
You just have to remind us, 92!! Just messing with ya

The West Rebels might surprise some teams this year. I've heard they got some talent on Sutherland.
They had an unbelievable freshman class a few seasons back. Those kids are juniors now if they stuck together.

It should be fun. I think OR wins, no idea by what. I'm sure CHS fans see it otherwise.

East Hamilton had some good drives and the running backs and quarterback were very good at getting enough yardage to pick up first downs and use a lot of clock in the first half, but on the other side of the ball they couldn't stop Dozier as he gashed them and couldn't defend the long ball over the top. Wildcats able to get some stops on defense in the second half and pull away. I don't know how many seniors EH has, but if a lot of these guys come back, they could be the favorite in that Region next season, Just heard McMinn County went down in flames to Clinton as the Dragons speed was too much for the Kees. Nice win for the Dragons! SO its OR vs Clinton at Blankenship next Friday night.
Derek said they score points and give up points. That was the story last night. One of the best offenses I saw this season

West just wins ballgames. These 2 have to play again. I predict KW wins.
-
I expect OR to win, also expect CC to get some TDs and yards in the air.
Oakland @ Bradley Central (take 2)
in Class 5A & Class 6A

Small schools often barely can get enough players to field a team. OS was really good this season late, made it to the 4th round and they probably had 20 Max kids out there. Few years back, Oakdale could not field a team. Eventually, some of these single A schools are going to have to go to 7 man ball like Kansas and Iowa play in rural areas.
