They were like that last year too, seems to be a recurring issue with them.

I saw a short clip of a sophomore LT named Bafford and man that kid has future potential. 6'3" 260 now and he can move.

OR looks young on some of the OL/DL, but, talented.

Hurts we lost Garza, hopefully Stooks is ready to take over.

Well, has anyone watched Clinton during Spring Practice? I've heard from a couple of people that they are loaded with talent and have the potential of having a special year.

How has the defense looked? That's what my main concern is this year.

I haven't, but, I did have a talk with Joe Gaddis this morning. He's friends with Josh J at Bearden and he told me Josh was impressed with the CHS starters. Said depth might not be there, but, a good starting crew. Could be a great year, we'll see.

    Jefferson Co

Best Player - Todd Collins (TE-LB) High School All American and USA Today Defensive Player of the year,  collegiate All American. Played in the NFL for the Patriots and won a Super Bowl with the Rams

Best player most have never heard of - Joe West (RB- OLB). All State as a JR at OLB. His SR year against Oak Ridge (1st game of the year) he had 187 yds on 7 carries with 2 TDs. Tore his ACL and was out the rest of the year. Went on to play at Carson Newman. Now is police chief in Jefferson City

I remember Joe. I was there for the 86 game. Very good RB. Excellent acceleration.

My view on OR's tops is Shawn Summers. Best HS player I still have ever seen. Not the best RB, best player. He had something like 280 yards, 5 TDs and 20 tackles against Knox Central in the 4th round playoff game in 1991. I've never seen another good HS player be that dominant on both sides of the ball and I've seen many kids that played  that were way better athletes, but, not as accomplished as a HS FB player. Todd Helton was darn close.

Jackie Pope was before my era of watching, he averaged 17 yards per carry which is hard to believe. Choo Choo Charley Justice averaged ~ 25 yards per carry. Hard to see how either did that.

If true, he is the traveling QB.  Like you said he has all the athletic ability and arm strength in the world but has has attitude issues, careless with the ball, and not a good field general.  I'm pretty sure if true this would be his 4th school? (I think he started out at Cocke County, transferred to Greeneville and was the 3rd string QB because of the issues i mentioned, transferred and started at Jeff Co, and now to Farragut?)

Years back now,  OR had a kid like this. His dad owns a super well known business in Knoxville. He started him out at Knox Central, then they moved to OR for 1 season, then he left for his senior season at Anderson County.

Kid was a good HS player, but, his dad wanted him so bad to be the QB and he didn't have QB talent. Central nor OR gave him a QB opportunity, AC did.

To show you how much $ can help a kid, he was given a scholarship at Alabama because his father is a huge Bama donor. Of course he never played.

That’s the mystery we’ve all been trying to figure out for going on 18 years now. While we did have the better team on paper, as we all know that doesn’t always translate to winning. There are all kinds of excuses and factors that could be mentioned, and I’m one of them that has made them throughout the years concerning that game, but at the end of the day Ravenwood was just the better team that night.

No imagination on offense. They had pretty much run over everyone until that game. Played good enough D, not O.

AP isn't exactly accurate on that, if that's what he said.

One has to request a transfer, not just "declare" what school they want to get an out of zone transfer to and it has to be approved by Knox County.  But there are several legit transfers, including a minority to majority transfer, which was initiated by Knox County to satisfy the Office of Civil Rights some time back to prevent bussing similar to what Hamilton County does.

And there are other legit reasons for transfer approval for all students, including, but not limited to the magnet programs that some schools offer.

    And that's Knox County.

The TSSAA deems students eligible as long as they start their freshman year at a particular high school, no matter where they live and if they comply with the living with parent/legal guardian provision.

So there are really two different levels here - County, and TSSAA.

Declare/request.  If a kid from AE wants to play FB for Farragut, he can. That's all AP meant.

Fulton is a magnet school, meaning they have courses of study that other schools don't have and can be a reason for a transfer in.

But they aren't the only school that has those types of opportunities. Others do, as well.

There are many creative ways to get a legit transfer within the system.

I stand by what I say.  All of the Knox County schools play along the edges of the margins.

The Knox County school board rules make recruiting inevitable. According to Austin Price, a kid from any middle school can attend any HS they want as long as they declare that in middle school. Austin agrees with you, he said "they all are doing what Powell succeeded at the last several years".

Does Catholic practice during fall break? Asking for a friend.

Remember those great Knox Central teams around 1990? Todd Helton? The center on that team told me they practiced year round. He said they would leave the county and go to a farm in another county to practice year round.

Oak Ridge needs to start the game faster. They continually get behind in the first quarter and have been able to recover so far. The development of #11 (Ray) has significantly improved the offense since Christmas break. Offense is much more potent with a point guard that can face up and drive around defender.

Any idea what has happened to #35 (Comer)? Hasn't played since first Karns game.

Karns isn't going away. Very talented team. They will be in the district finals.

Karns is real good. West is tough, too. Comer got a bad concussion and apparently is done.

And the other tall Center, too. He’s improved leaps and bounds.

Shamar Green. Never played BB until last year, he's rapidly improving. He and Cooper Williams are going to be a heck of a low post combo next 2 seasons.

Super exciting game tonight against West, even though there wasn’t much scoring. There was some serious defense being played out there by both teams tonight, and both teams laid it all on the line. Ray Ray Watson by the time he’s a senior will be All State for Oak Ridge. You heard it here first. Really good win against a solid West team. Big game versus Karns Tuesday night. Karns is very talented. Should be a doozy.

Karns really blew this game. That #11 getting a technical at that time was a game loser. OR hit like 8-9 FTs in the last couple of minutes and as always Ray gets to the hoop at will when he wants.

Karns is a really talented team, they just messed around and gave that one away, IMO. That huge guy is a sight.
