I was at the game and it was by far the best game I have seen all year and maybe the best in a decade. Hard fought both ways. My Chargers played well but just came up a little short. I was very impressed with the Dyersburg defensive front 7 and the closing speed on that side of the ball. The Dyersburg backup QB played well and the explosive plays won the game. I was at the same end of the field the two running plays were at the end of the half. I was shocked the Covington RB did not get in the end zone on the last play but he definitely did not get in. I saw the hit at the goal line and it was a great defensive play to stop that run. I am of the belief of the old saying that defense travels so I think Dyersburg has a chance to go to East Nashville and win. Good Luck Dyersburg.

As Dash said, much mutual respect between these teams. The trash talking comes from people that have no dog in the fight. My son plays and I have the starting DLine at my house about every weekend. This is as close of a group that I’ve been around. They’ve got each other’s backs and they’ve played together since I coached them in the 3rd grade. They’re great young men. They hangout with me over running around town and staying out late. They hold each other accountable and play for each other. People talking trash just makes them come harder. They have the utmost respect for Covington and those boys. Kirby ALWAYS gets his boys up and they play TOUGH disciplined ball. You really hate to see a loser out of that game. How about those DL playing on offense in the backfield on that last drive and 2pt conversion? Gotta put those dogs out there! Haha

  2. I don’t know how many sacks we had tonight, or how many times that qb went down, but he kept coming. Dang tough kid that left it all on the field! Our worst offensive performance by a mile. Gotta have better playcalling next week or we’ll be sitting home the week after. Coaches gotta turn it up on offense and take a few shots and rely on the D. This “coaching not to lose” instead of coaching to win is gonna get us beat. Go for the jugular early and let it all hang out!

Too many turnovers last game to beat even an average team. What we do best is by air, I don't see that changing this week. Defiantly under dog but if we play a turnover free game we have a chance. The QB/Safety being out will absolutely have a huge effect on the game I don't care what the Trojan faithful say. And I do since some serious nervousness. Like my Daddy always said, He who laughs last laughs best. We shall see! And if anyone is wondering we are stacked with Freshman and Sophomores who have started all year long! So great things ahead either way!

Yeah, good luck laughing at that elephant!

He will excel regardless if he wears orange or red!

He absolutely will! I won’t stop pushing him though! It’s just crazy how humble, appreciative, and respectful he is at his age. 99% of kids with his potential get cocky and coast. The attention has fueled him to dig deeper and push harder. There were two kids tonight that had more snaps than him, and he gets double teamed almost every play!

Let's see some proof of this damage to the QB's parents' vehicle. That seems like an outlandish claim! How would they know what vehicle the QB's parents are driving. On top of that, the opposing team's buses have been in the grass on the other side of the stadium for the past few years now. The same place the opposing coaches and their staff park. How would someone not see if players were doing something they weren't supposed to? Don't talk bad on kids if you don't have some type of proof to back up your claim.

Ok big boy! They were parked on the opposite side of the stadium by the lockerroom because their son was being examined. They have Dyersburg stickers on their vehicles. Ripley players walked by after the game and cleated their ride. Tell me how to post a picture and I will. If I need to use some crayons to make it clearer, let me know! These are some of the finest people I know! They didn’t want to cause a stink, but I will.

I agree with you MG, BUT I think losing this kid will hurt on defense just as much if not more than on offense. He is a heck of a safety and kind of anchored the back end of the Trojan defense. The weakness of the team, IMO, is the pass defense, so with him out it is going to be even more important to get a consistent pass rush up front.

JMo’s role on defense cannot be understated. He was an absolute eraser his entire career in black and gold. I LOVED the way he always competed and gave his all! We’re missing the other safety too. That’s our weakest spots now. If anyone wants to beat Dyersburg, they’ll have to throw it. Not gonna be able to run on our front seven.

I watched it on youtube, and if it happened right before half, it was in the middle of the field and it looked like he was cutting in to make a move on the over pursuit. To say he was being tackled at the end of half running out of bounds, seems like your almost accusing it of being a dirty play, which it wasn't even close to being. The QB is a competitor and was trying to get another one in before half. Dyersburg is for real.

I in no way, shape, or form insinuated any kind of dirty antics. It happens! It happened on Dyersburg’s sideline. Nothing dirty about it at all. Now if you want to talk about the damage that the Ripley players did to his parents’ vehicle AFTER the game, we can talk about how dirty that was. He was fighting for yards, as he will always do, because he is a fighter and competitor.

  8. Dyersburg has size and speed and depth. DL is big, strong, and hungry. Lightest guy is 240+(and dear to my heart) and they all are very active. QB that is out, also is a stud safety. The other starting safety is also out for the season. We’ve got depth and should be ok, just won’t be as aggressive as we were there. OL is big and stout, IF THE RIGHT PERSONNEL IS ON THE FIELD. Hopefully we put the right guys out there and quit screwing around so we don’t let the backup qb get hurt also. We’ve got speed, size, and experience. These guys have played a lot of games and won a lot of games. 25 seniors that have been successful since I was coaching them in the 3rd grade. They’ll bring it every week.

  9. Dyersburg qb/safety/punter, John Morris Trowbridge, is out for the season with a torn acl. Awesome freaking kid and I ABSOLUTELY hate it for him! Played his heart out every play! Good news is I feel like no one, in west Tennessee, can beat us on the ground. They’ll have to pass effectively to move the ball on us. I believe we can run the ball on anyone, if OUR COACHES HAVE THE RIGHT OL ON THE FIELD. This is a deep Trojan team, but cannot replace John Morris.

Oh, I hate to hear that. I know injuries are part of the game, but you hate it for the kid.

SUPER high character kid. Plans on going into the military and now this. He gave his all every play. This kind of thing was bound to happen when you have coaches playing their own kids that don’t belong on the field over kids that bust their ####es every play

I don’t think anyone is overlooking Ripley.  The coach’s know that the Tigers are and always been a team that likes smash mouth football.

They hit hard and if you come in the game sleep walking they will beat you.

The hardest hit I ever seen was by Ripley against a Dyersburg receiver, in a driving rain storm. Hit the kid so hard, knocked his feet out from undear him and he rotated 360 degrees in the air.  Sounded like a shot gun blast on impact, in the parking lot.

That was in 2002 and I still remember that sound! I think it was Bobby Matthews that took that lick. That and at one point you could barely make out the opposite sideline because it was raining so hard. We still won that game though! I was going up against Ramon Foster all game and he had 150lbs on me

Well like I said know for a  fact what he had that night. Heck his first rd run was 60 plus in that game. I have kept stats for Lake County since the 2000 season. I take alot of pride in having both teams stats correct.

Are you talking about Calvin Mullins and Lake county? We’ve been talking about Skylan Smith, who plays for Covington, during the game against Dyersburg. Covington did not have a 60 plus yard run in that game.
