Very well said. Adapt or die and he’s adapted while others have died. Prime example is the Fulton program, high school all the way down. Josh seems to have been the one who was able to get the players there. Their high program and youth program has dropped like an anchor since his departure.

I saw what you did with the anchor there admirals.

And folks in Cleveland are laughing.

Coach Cummings did not do his history homework before he took the Cleveland job. Or he knew the history of Cleveland HCs  after Benny Monroe and thought so much of his coaching ability that he could change that history. Wrong. After Benny Monroe left Cleveland, no HC has lasted more than 3 or 4 years as the HC at Cleveland. I think l am right on that? Maybe someone can correct me. Don't want to be accused of spreading false information on the T. I even think they went through some alumni as HC also? I think there HC there now has been there 3 years? And he really has not burned it either.

Todd lived off Emory Road between Powell and Karns. Always liked Harrison from HS to Pros. Him and Dennis Rogan used to go at it.

Todd was going no where but Central, No matter where he lived. To think he was supposed to go anywhere else is dreaming. I don't know for sure but l heard Smith lived in the Bearden zone. Don't know for sure. I heard Cottrell lived in Corryton. I thought that was the Gibbs zone.

The word is that a Catholic QB will be following Jones. This is bigger news than the HC hire. Bearden hasn’t had a QB since Ironside graduated.

Is he planning on sitting out a year or will her apply for some sort of hardship transfer through TSSAA. I still think there is a 20 mile rule to go from private to public. He could move to a school far enough away and enroll there to establish a history away from Catholic. It's been tried before but l think TSSAA  takes every transfer on its own merits. Might take some deal making or an attorney but it might happen. Good luck.

So Jones is the guy. What do we know about him? What does he do for work? Is he married? Have kids? Where did he grow up? Did he play college ball? What's the scoop!?

Hey RPO, just type in his name and there is all kinds of information on Coach Jones.

Surly someone on here has a program from Powell that should answer most of those questions. Not on here to bash this guy and hope him the best but one of the downfalls Powell had this year especially against Maryville was lack of discipline which turned that game around on a dime. Almost got them in the championship game on the same very player that opened the Pandora's Box at Maryville because he couldn't keep his East Knoxville Pie Hole Shut and set Maryville up on short field advantage on the following kickoff. You might skate by with a few knuckle heads like that in 5A but you sure won't in 6A.

Hey Barn, thanks for the update. Some posters on this thread seem to think Coach Jones can bring some talent from outside of the BHS zone, maybe from the east side like Powell has brought in. That has always made things better at BHS.

No doubt it is an interesting hire. He's coming off a state championship and has the connections. . One thing that I'd be encouraged by if I was a BHS guy is him keeping the players they have plus adding in a few kids each class that can help. Many forget Maryville QB1 went to Bearden zoned schools up until HS.  The mindset of those around the school is they are a basketball school and a change was needed.

I'm curious to see how this will play out between kids having another option in regards to HS in regards to those rising 9th graders.

Hearing that Coach Jones has brought in Coach Potter from HVA to be the DC. Just what l heard. Don't know for sure.

Don't disagree with any of what you said. My point was kids like Jones won't be so fast to leave if JJ can produce and turn things around.

Beardens MAC teams have been very good the last few years. I don't think talent is a problem at Bearden recently. I think the problem has been getting the talent you have coached properly.

Maryville QB 1 was never going to be a Bearden football player. Josh Jones or anyone else was not going to keep the Jones boys at Bearden or from playing football at MHS. Dad played at Bearden but decided to take his boys to Maryville. The head baseball coach at Maryville was a teammate of the dad at BHS. That might have had something to do with why the Jones boys went to MHS. Or one reason might have been the HC that was hired by BHS in 2014. The dad might not have wanted his son to play for that HC.

Bearden stepping up if JJ is the one and signs pointing to him. Big hire if they wanted to turn things around to keep kids at Bearden and also potentially bring in kids that can help them elevate.

Well the so called step up will have to be proven on the football field. Will BHS get Baby Falcons, CAK, or the Powell flying circus. No HC experience at a 6A school is questionable at the least. Maybe there will be an assistant HC that knows the ropes that the principal has a relationship with or has confidence in. Bearden is a difficult place to reach those high expectations. Very high expectations but never doing what it takes to reach those expectations. Bearden parents/boosters that get involved in sports that don't get what they want out of a coach don't go to the principal that signed off on the HC hire, they go to central office to air their displeasures. Good luck to the new staff, they will need it.
