First, I would like to correct that it is Greeneville*. You have seen it enough in the finals, I would think it would start getting spelled correctly. Honest mistake I am sure but always been a pet peeve of mine.

Secondly, thank you so much for the invitation! Independence is little far of a drive for me to get into a pissing contest with you boys though, even though I would love to have some kids train with Rylee Lent she put on a show this weekend, I will most likely not be in attendance.

I definitely won't attend if nobody is gonna share the profits with Greeneville cause we are poor and need all the financial help we can get hahaha.

I did get several phone calls about this thread and appreciate you guys for the laughs this morning, I needed it after the long drive home last night.

Atlas, Aka “Ole sweatpants.” You won some points with me with your response!  You sound like a pretty funny guy! My apologies for holding onto a grudge from a few years back. Not a good thing to do when you don’t really know a person.  There was no need to bring you in on the ridiculous conversation going on, but glad you got a laugh out of it. Congrats on a great season at GreenEEEville and yes my “Helmet” got in the way of my eyes when trying to spell! Let’s all keep advancing TN wrestling!

So do you accept the challenge?  You and Heckert at the Independence tournament on the football field?!!!

And if the young Buck scares ya I’m 42 and I know Hamblin will throw down put your money where your mouth is.  Maybe you can die your hair too

Did I specifically say that one was like paint drying? I said I do not understand 1–0 scores, and that’s because it’s usually wrestlers being not aggressive as they usually are because they feel the stress of being in a finals match. You do not have to agree, heck you coach him if I’m not mistaken and maybe I am, but he just didn’t look the same as he did versus Johnson or Parcel. I just have an opinion and maybe it’s wrong, but I also had an opinion on an unusual number of forfeits this year, especially after some upsets took place.

I will never understand guys not going for it when out there. Playing it safe will rarely win you a match and does a good job of losing one for you. 1-0 for Heckert vs Smith and 1-0 for Turner vs Magness. I understand playing it a little safe but this was as fun as watching paint dry and I’d rather get beat 4-5 or more and actually go for it than literally get beat 1-0. I think I’d have a much worse feeling and regret that way.

Just wondering Cobra have you ever competed at a high level? Maybe you have not sure but Logan Heckert gave it all he had. Kobe is a great wrestler and it is extremely hard to wrestle someone that is that much longer than yourself while at the same time being a heck of a wrestler. I thought it was a great match with both men giving their all! If you don’t t agree maybe you can enter yourself in the open tournament at independence on the football field and Logan and myself will be happy to accommodate you In a lesson!

I wanted to give a special shout out to Landon Desselle. Wrestled almost the entire year on one leg. Beast of the East, Knockout Classic, Johnny Drennan etc.

Tore his acl just before thanksgiving and still ran through everybody. Next year is gonna be crazy.

Wrestlers are a different breed! Basketball player would be out for the season! Props to you Landon! Way to Spencer Lee it! The Fairview crew enjoys watching you compete! Big things in the future for you. Can’t wait to watch you at the next level in a few years.

    Ok here’s a constructive suggestion…

…if you don’t like the way it’s being done put on the stripes and do it yourself.

    this stupid “survey” isn’t constructive.

Did not read the survey but on a serious note, I feel that the cross face into an open mouth issue needs to be addressed by the powers that be. I don’t think it should be considered flagrant misconduct when a wrestler has a forearm shoved into his mouth. I understand that it can be hard for a ref to determine if a wrestler actually bit down sometimes but the flagrant misconduct call should be erased if the ref doesn’t think it was intentional. This  happened to a young man at the section 4 tournament this weekend in the finals. Felt really bad for that young man who worked all year to qualify for state and then had a forearm shoved into his mouth and now can’t compete at the state tournament. Would love to see this problem addressed.

Soddy is the clear cut favorite to win both duals and traditional next year in single A. I expect next year's Soddy team to be one of the best to ever come through the division. Only other on that level in recent years would be the Pigeon Forge team from 2021. I wouldn't be surprised if Soddy can compete with Baylor, Cleveland, and Bradley next year. They should be legit!

Gonna have to kindly disagree with that statement Cowcatcher. Soddy has a nice team but Stating that Soddy will be able to compete with Baylor is like saying that UTC could compete in the Big 10. I’m all for rooting for the small schools but during my time in this state I have yet to see a small school be able to compete with a team like Baylor or Ryan when they are at full strength. It is a great goal to strive for though!

  8. Congrats to Signal Mountain boys! You all achieved what you were striving for all year! Wrestling is the toughest sport in the world and you only truly know that unless you have experienced it and it was great to see them do it with class. I don’t say this because I am a Signal Mountain fan. I actually live in Fairview. I would just like to point out that some of the wrestlers from PF did flip the finger to Foreman and came up to our boys after and shook their hands and said “hey we are not all like that and great match!” Good for you boys and the parents that raised you!!!  For those of you that don’t know it was a heated match before it started because of last years infamous slam.  Oh and by the way the young man that got slammed last year that became a state place winner can no longer wrestle because he’s had to many concussions after he got slammed by a Greenville kid at individual states when he was winning and Atlas the TN phenom (lol) stood there in his sweatpants while he was getting pulled off on a stretcher and said he was faking it. Hey Atlas how about you gain some weight and I’ll lose some weight and we can wrestle at the Independence tournament on the grid iron. Would love to embarrass you like that freshman did your senior year.  Congrats to Greenville on a great season also. You are all great wrestlers and push us to raise the bar.

PF still had another kid slam someone this year in the consolation final match at 182. It is apparent that they still haven’t learned their lesson. It is also apparent that TSSAA needs to set some guidelines about warmups. There were no PF kids on the mat before the match so our boys went to warm up and some of the PF boys wandered out there obviously just to be disrespectful and get in their way. The PF boys weren’t even trying to warm up just standing there.  It was quite obvious they were doing it to be knucklehead kids ( which happens with all of our kids) This should have been stopped by Coach Foreman and it is a good thing one of the FV coaches stepped in or it was gonna get ugly real quick. One of the PF supposed senior leaders was not very receptive when asked to leave the mat. When he refused I was reminded of his daddy coming to his rescue during the state finals last year.  Congratulations to Signal mountain on a heck of a tournament and great coaching strategy!

Me and the boy drove up from God’s country to watch these matches. It was great to see a class act program take down two programs who think their crap don’t stink. The way some of those boys acted on PF and Greeneville showed their daddy’s never went out back and snatch a limb from a tree and took it to their hind parts.

I told my boy if a coach ever tells him not to shake hands with another team, he needs to give his coach the ole Stone Cold salute and shake the other teams hand. Looking at you PF.

Signal was impressive all day. Dominating from start to finish. Maybe Greeneville will need to dump some more money into their hired mercenaries.
