With teams in play I understand why it is best not to announce. With this district being all done why not get it out.
I notice district 8 is listing their team but that seems to be predictions as well.
What's up with the late list?

With mo on the mound it would have looked and smelled different. Saw players there from Chapel Hill, Webb, Mboro Christian, Shelbyville there to support mo. Kid's got a lot of friends win or loose. Lvalley has some sticks.....well trained.

QUOTE(irecnso @ May 15 2007 - 12:55 PM) 826459527Had some bad info from somewhere as to where the Oakland / CC game was to be played.
No disrespect to CC 's stadium, it is what it is. This day and time with most school systems having money problems, its difficult for athletic programs to improve their facilities.
Should be a good game.
CC is a good place to play! Third baseman may take a couple in the mouth on bad hops but that's baseball on a high school field. Fans at CC are excellent. A drag strip is right outside the park where people rev up their engines and go 70 mph right past the field with the engine wide open. Pickup trucks line the fence. with 16 different tunes playing...what a great atmosphere! Mentally tough kids like Dodd and Burnett will thrive in this hostile environment.

Coffee County and Lawrenceburg are worthy! Congrats Coach James and Coach Jones. I have to assume one is coming to the boro. Big Ben Aarons vs Tennyson Dodd....how's that fora monster movie? I was hoping for the fans of Lincoln to join the fans of Oakland in a hoot out. Maybe next year!

It was good to finally see some calls go Coach James way today. Not sure any of them were wrong but they were certainly the kinda calls that have gone against him in previous years. Congrats to Coach James....his team pounds the ball and deserve to stay away from Oakland in the next round.
If Lincoln can come through and end up at Oakland it will be a party. Lincoln's fans in Oakland's home field will be a blast to see and hear.

Franklin County is at Shelbyville tonight at 6:30. Winner plays Coffee County.

Back to baseball District fans! Tullahoma has a great place to play and when we've been down their fans have been great and parents great. Must not have much to work with this year--they deserve a good program. Riverdale and Oakland are playing this week. Just 45 minutes away.

If the parents are nuts the coach cannot keep them from distracting in the middle of the fifth inning when a parent screams all the way across the field "come on little Johnnie were going home .....you dont have to put up with this &*^%&^% and your coach is a &^%$&^%$ and coach if you dont like it I'm gonna kick &*^%*&^%*&^%". I saw this happen at about 5 years ago with a catcher who was eventually told to leave the team. Coaches usually try to ignore it until the game is over....but by then the damage is done. Parents are hard to control. If 2 bad ones at LC then that's a whole lot to overcome.

QUOTE(2priceless @ Apr 8 2007 - 08:41 PM) 826432654In the past, they assigned a writer to each school and they were responsible for covering all the sports. I remember Steve Heath used to be at Smyrna and then was sent to Riverdale . Stinnett was assigned to Oakland until he got sent to the colleges and higher. I think Heath believes he is still supposed to cover one school.
DNJ will be at the big game this week! After the show down guess who will get the most press. That's right! The winner. If they split then Blackaman and siegel get their 10% back.

QUOTE(ozzie smith @ Apr 8 2007 - 08:53 PM) 826432668You mean to tell me a high school coach had to leave the game he was coaching in to talk to an upset parent? Thats sad! What about the other kids playing the game? There`s a time and place for everything; have enough respect for the coach and other kids and talk to him after the game if you have a problem.
Coaches always get blamed for everything. It is good to see someone find parents at fault. I watched Blackman fall apart a few year's back. Coach was blamed but parents were way out there. I hear that is the case with LC. 2 bad parents can ruin a team. Coaches have to face it the parents still have more influence than they do.

QUOTE(OaklandBasketball @ Mar 31 2007 - 09:54 PM) 826427346Very proud of the Oakland Patriots as they advanced to the semifinals of the Warrior Classic with a 7-1 win over a solid Lincoln County team and a 6-2 win over the defending state champion Farragut. Oakland's pitching and defense was the key as they relied on underclassmen hurlers to get them the wins today and perhaps most impressive was Cheshire Rigler coming in relief on both games and doing his job in getting Oakland across the finish line. Everybody knows Oakland can score but the difference in this season and seasons past has been Oakland's ability to do the little things and make every situation count, where they were money with RISP.
I think this Oakland team has the ability to do some damage in the postseason if they can keep this up, but also they have to stay consistent. Winning the Warrior Classic would be nice, but just seeing the young guys step up tonight gives me hope not only for this season, but for the future
Oakland will walk Hunter and Skinner and look for double plays. April 10.

Saw Cascade in the tourney this weekend. Blown out in the game I saw but Stewart was not on the hill. He's a quality player without him they would not do very well. Lots of luck to Mo hope he gets the support he deserves.

QUOTE(ksgovols @ Apr 2 2007 - 12:01 PM) 826428219I agree with you on this one greenwheel, but............T$$AA does not need to charge high school teams 4 games for entering a tournament. They should drop down to 3, have fewer teams in the thing and everybody could save pitching OR call it what it is, a tournament with JV pitching for the most part. Why is the varsity getting penalized for that? Now that the number of games have been reduced, I'd say that most teams will probably not play in tournaments in the future.
Loretto vs Overton reminded me of a slow pitch softball game. Overton finally put in a pitcher to get it over with. Loretto was the strongest team at hitting pitches out of the strike zone I've seen in a long time. They trick the pitcher into throwing one head high and hten they rip it out of the park. Interesting. Overton also had an interesting strategy....they steal third base better than they do second. Both teams have a lot of strengths.

It's great to see Oakland beating Clarksville in heroic fashion. They really pounded the ball against Shelbyville this morning. Dodd looked good on the mound against Clarksville. Barnes hit the ball well in both games.
Someone said Siegel RF is out for the year with broken collar bone? Any news?

QUOTE(Uncle Argile @ Mar 12 2007 - 08:07 AM) 826408683Sounds similar to the 2004 Blackman squad... you can say what you want, but if there is bad blood between a squad, it will rip it apart by the end of the season. Blackman had the now number one college pitcher in the country in David Price, and couldn't pull it together.
They had a coach that cursed the players. Parents that talked to the press. More problems than a few kids fighting.
They had great chemistry last year and it took them a long way. Blackman 2nd in district again this year.
Hoorah!

I've seen them all but FC now. LC is clearly the best--but being the best does not always get it done. Shelbyville got used to winning last year. Lost 6 starters but still seem to have swagger even when they are loosing..I think all those sophmores will grow up by the end of the season. CC well rounded but not much better than Shelbyville in pitching. I'd like to see the siegel-Columbia game. Should be some heat!

In regards to Riverdale having a few fights before the game that is just to get their blood pumping. My neighbors were brothers that used to bloody each other 3 or 4 times a week. But when anyone else wanted to start trouble they had to fight all 4 of them. It'll get worse before it gets better. Teambuilding goes through 4 distinct steps. Forming. Storming. Norming. Performing. Riverdale is in phase 2.
Saw a good pitcher throw for Blackman Freshmen against Riverdale last week. Anyone know who he is? Lefty.

Shelbyville doesn't have the pitching. They only had brothers last year so unless they can come up with a really good pitcher it'll be all their offense and everyone knows you can't win without pitching. What we need to be asking is who has the most coming back?
It does not matter if Lincoln County wins district. They will have to play Riverdale, Blackman or Oakland and that'll be it. Brothers was the best pitcher in the district last year and couldnt get past Blakman and they did not loose much. Oakland, Riverdale, Blackman, and maybe even WC with Rodgers on mound are better than the other districts' best.
-
Oakland's the best all around team--Dodd will break out. Blackman has best pitching and best shortstop. Riverdale has got "it" . Paco will walk, Jones will hit the gap, Hunter will hit the street...Skinner will hit it over the street. Defense will prevail for Riverdale who will walk no one and score 11 runs a game. Cox is best shortstop in dist. Frankie may be best 2b. I'm anxious to see if Rodgers is any better at wc. ITS BASEBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE.
