They will have to contain Miller and make sure he is on the ground.  He can hurt you.  Davion is a little slippery too.  It will be a task.

Just see a weakness this year I think central definetly take advantage of and that's line play on both sides of the ball centrals defense is looking pretty stout this year. If central can get through the line while on defense they'll be able to stop Miller from passing. And I believe that if centrals defense is good as I think it is then I think they can adjust to maintain Evans as well he is fast, but he doesn't have the strength that their former back Hunt did and there back up running back Thompson is mediocre  in my opinion. But mcminn still has the numbers and depth but central wins one every now and again.

    Giles County vs Rhea County

It was a great night for Football, in Southern Middle Tennessee.  The Bobcats faced off against Rhea County, for the Bobcats last Scrimage, of the 2022 Season.

This week, it appeared that the Bobcats had some Motivation, and you could see that Chemistry, I wittnessed, in their last game, played at Swanee, against Tullahoma.

They didn't have those big interceptions, which costed them their momentum early, against Fayetteville City.  However,  about half-way in, they appeared to lose what momentum they had going.  Which, they where up, but they allowed Rhea County to come back, and make a decent game out of it.

Friday Night, the Bobcats travel to Lawrenceburg for their Season Opening Jamboree.  Then, the Next Week, they Host Lincoln County, for their first Regular Season game.

I could see that some changes had been made, and it appeared as if they know how to turn on that switch, when they need too.  Showing some great speed in the Backfield.  And, their QB, didn't have any interceptions, tonight.  Which was a Big Help.

The Bobcats Defense did a great job tonight. With their Defensive Line, looking really good.  I am excited to see how this Season turns out, and look forward to the Season Opener, against LCHS.

I've got to mention Swanee, The University of the South.  If you have never visited Swanee University, then you need to take the time, and go visit.

Swanee University, is my number 1 pick for Best Looking College Campuses!  I can not find the right words to describe it, but it appears to be something out of a 16 or 17 Hundreds.   Great Campus, and if you have the Grades, and are looking for a Good Place to attend College, then look no more.  Enroll in Swanee!

Are you talking about the Sewanee in North Franklin County southern Grundy County Area

  3. Rhea County and Mcminn County   should both be above walker valley. I mean walker valley has never even beaten Mcminn in a regular season game even in 2010 when they had their worse team of all time going 2-8 still beat walker valley 43-6 that year. And I believe that Rhea County is going to be quite a bit better than Mcminn county. So for that region I'd have it like this

    1. Rhea County

    2.Mcminn County

    3. Walker Valley

    4. Ooltewah/Howard.

Before Benny Hammons arrived at Gatlinburg Pittman they were also everyone's whipping boy back in the day.

Did Pittman ever have their own high school? See the old Gatlinburg high school listed but don't even know where that was located.  Actually was showing my sister the old Athens JL cook high school. Not much is left besides what almost looks like a church their mascot was the gators. Had a couple of good basketball teams and mediocre football teams. Wish they had a little more info on the black schools other than Kingsport Douglas

    Alcoa hall

    Knox Austin

    And Chattanooga Riverside

To me it seems useless to scrimmage an 18 man football team knowing they can't even have a real practice unless there was 22 bodies in uniform. TKA still reminds me of their predecessor Harrison Chilhowee the armpit of high school football during it's glory day's with 15 and 16 man football teams that took a whopping every Friday Night for the Gipper.

Was looking at the high school football database and in 1982 Harrison Chilhowee  went undefeated 8-0, However in 1985 went 0-9 gave up 78 points in one game and 467 in their 9 game season and only scored 18 for the whole season.

Just looked back on the database for high school football. Just looked st the 60s but looked like they held a close rivalry with Tennessee school for the blind then by mid 60s was pretty much getting blown out by everyone including vonore and Friendsville.

Giles County's two trophies (Gold Ball, '09, Silver Ball, '13) both came when they were sent West.

and not that it matters, but they *are* west of I-65

Yeah those travel times have to suck the energy out of players and fans alike somewhat.  Makes it impossible for fans to go to away games couldn't imagine going from Giles to Grundy just for a game

  8. Haven't seen or heard much from their posters this year. Read in newspaper article where they tied with Rockwood in a Scrimmage and I think I read they lost in a Scrimmage to Hixson. (Not 100% certain on that) their first game is against the Sweetwater Wildcats on the 19th and thinking theyll be able to outscore them but wonder what others think. Also just wondering if anyone had heard anything about  them, they have been super dominant since 2016 and this is the first time in awhile I haven't heard much noise on them. Will the tigers shake up the region? Or will Tyner and Jasper get over the black and orange hump this year?

You must have forgot Giles has an all state corner returning along with a running back who ran for almost 1000 yards behind Chaye McElroy. We have potential all state left tackle Amare smith as well as all around athlete Kamauri Turner, keep sleeping on the bobcats, it will only make them better!

Believe they have another great season but that ends with alcoa.

Chattanooga Times Free Press article on Central:

McMinn Central, with 19 returning starters, ranks as the region's most veteran-laden team. The Chargers are hungry for their first winning season since 2014, when they set a program record with 10 victories. Last season they went 2-8, but their losses to Signal Mountain, Sweetwater and Tellico Plains were by a combined nine points.
"Our guys are experienced and really are a whole lot tougher going into this season," second-year coach Matt Moody said. "(Left tackle) Isaiah Trew is one of those kids who has made huge improvements in the weight room. This team is full of hard workers, and they are ready to have a strong season."

I think they'll have a very close game with mcminn this year. Centrals defense is stout and mcminn weakness is definetly the line but heard cherokees are deep in skill positions.  My prediction is Mcminn County  13 Mcminn Central 7

Eagleton can be a good high school team if they can keep the boys that would have normally went to Alcoa in the past. For a 1A or 2A school they will have the tools to compete. For a school only playing some JV games this year I was very impressed with the number I seen out there.

Will be going to watch Eagleton jv play Mcminn central. I think Eagleton will fare better than the other two county schools. Unfortunately I feel like they'll be region 1 In 1a and maybe region 2 in 2a

Most people tell me they hate their job at Denso and some have been there a long time saying it has gotten worse over the years and count down the days they have left like their being released from prison. No wonder their advertising on the high school football games for jobs. Back when they opened you had all kinds of test and now you walk in and if you can breath you start tomorrow at

You're right they can't keep people down here either my dad's a supervisor and like you said counting down the days, older brother is a team leader and he is looking elsewhere as well.

Not much, they don't like the MHS nickname. Denso was the driving force behind the name change for the fall 5K

Yeah denso is going pc. They sent a bunch of bs out during "pride month" here in athens and basically forced on everyone. Even though most of the gay people that work there hide in the corner piddling on their phone and denso won't get rid of them bc of discrimination laws or whatever but they have probable cause bc they are more worried about replying to someone they are arguing with on social media then running a line as a team. Eventually I got so sick of it I said you know what put me in the non air conditioned 801 where the kelm is. The hardest and hottest part of the plant if they got assigned there they'd usually quit quickly.  And I can't believe denso thinks they have leveraging power over Maryville high school. Always been the mascot so tired of everyone forcing a change.

  14. Central chargers ended up shutting out York Institute in the scrimmage 21-0 really do think well see a much improved team this season. And for the second straight Friday, the Central defense did not give up any points.

McMinn Central's latest scrimmage performance may be the strongest indication yet that the Chargers could turn the corner this football season.

Central dominated its final scrimmage of the preseason Friday, winning 21-0 at York Institute in Jamestown. It was a complete reversal from the last time the two teams scrimmaged a year ago, when York had come into Englewood and smothered the Chargers 27-7.

And for the second straight Friday, the Central defense did not give up any points.

"First of all, you've got to give props to our defense, really, because after the way we played the other day at the five-way,” said Central head coach Matt Moody. “York is a real physical team. They're a team that came down when we scrimmaged last year and beat us (27-7), and they physically dominated us.

“But our defense today, they stepped up and had several stops and several timely turnovers that they caused. And right now it's just good to watch them play. Everybody is understanding what we're trying to do and are getting to the football and playing aggressive, and I'm really pressed with our defensive effort today, again.”

Central's offense consistently moved the ball as well, despite the absence due to sickness of a couple of key skill players.

Isaiah Edmonds and Raymond McCarty got most of the touches at running back, with McCarty scoring Central's first touchdown from 20 yards out by making defenders miss after a catch in the flat.

Bay Harbison caught a 24-yard pass from quarterback Novice Cox for the second touchdown, and Cox ran the Chargers' final score in from eight yards out.

Central's final preseason outing takes place Friday in the jamboree at Polk County. The Chargers play the 8 p.m. game against Sequoyah, a 20-minute quarter with a running clock.

  15. Think Eagleton is gonna bring success back to the county schools. Ever since they consolidated all the  what would be 1a schools today into 1 6a and 1 5a school. I think Blount County was separate out enough to justify most of the community schools  would it had been better if they consolidated into 4 3a schools? I know Porter and Walland both had a success in football with Townsend Lanier and Friendsville being up and down.  I think Eagleton is definetly gonna be bringing that back to Blount County football.

Good question. Because OR does not want AC....lol No it could be neither one want each other. It should come to pass soon if OR wants it. But really OR will always has athletes and AC has a magnificent feeder program. This should be a movie in the making lol

Haha thanks for answering my question. Do think Anderson County would have handled oak ridge any year passed 2017.  But we're you saying they canceled the Clinton rivalry with AC bc it was nasty or Oak ridge.

  17. Giles County is a good team, but Alcoa is another league they are GREAT year in year out and have built a dynasty up there. Giles is a powerhouse in there area but they are also a part of the weakest 3a region in my opinion outside of giles none of the other teams are super good, sequatchie is mediocre lately. Don't know much about community but they seem pretty weak and cannon/Grundy County are known to be cupcake level schools. It's not Giles fault though they got put in a region far away and I still have a hard time understanding  what got them placed in the eastern side of the bracket when Giles is almost west tn

  18. This is off topic. But how come Anderson County and oak ridge never play football against one another anymore. That would be one heckuva  good in-county rivalry. Feel like it would be a tighter game then with Clinton against either of the other two. But I feel like Anderson County could have came out on top between the three schools the past 5 years or so.

  19. I'm new here to coacht. But that's besides the point I'm hearing good things about the boys in blue if they do good I can see them going 6-4 and if they do there worst I  could see that dropping to 3-7

Mcminn county -L ( McMinn is too deep in the skill positions and has to much depth)

Tellico plains- W (Central gets pay back at home)

Signal Mountain- W ( but could be a toss up but think the Chargers have the better chance of victory between the two this year.)

Polk county- W ( Central will be to much for polk this year

Brainerd- W or L (usually always a toss up between central and brainerd no matter how weak either school is)

Meigs county- L ( but will be closer than years prior)

Kingston- L ( think yellow jackets will be to much for the blue boys but could possibly upset them)

Loudon- L ( should be one of Centrals toughest regular season oppenents)

Rockwood- W or L ( think it will be alot closer than last years game especially since its at Central, I thought it would have been closer last year, hoping depth helps the chargers in this game)

Sweetwater- W ( Think this is the year Central gets over the wildcat hump I feel like Central has had the better team a few times and but the last few years have chocked against sweetwater in low scoring battles.

My final prediction for their regular season record will probably 5-5  with a possible 4th seed spot and a 1st round exit against Giles County.
