Ensworth 2012 team would beat Lipscomb by 100. lol

The same one that beat BGA 35-7? lol.

They may beat them…was a great team no doubt but they wouldn’t smoke em.  LA finished #14 in the country in 2022.  That has to mean something. Football at the high school level in Tennessee is better now than 10 years ago.  That is a fact.

Hate is something a 12 year old girl says to someone when they don’t like their opinion. Are you sure you want to use that word? BTW saying “not one positive word” is either hyperbole or such an emotional exaggeration you should rethink posting on social media for a while because it’s too stressful for you. Hang in there.

    Relax Coach….girl dad here.

Truly just curious, but do you know what middle school those local boys come from?

Honestly not sure on all of them…kaleb I believe is from Spring Hill.  I think the Spillman brothers went to Grassland.  Chauncey, Antonio and CJ went to LA.  Jon maybe Grassland but not sure.

If you know that Richard Land was his name, that means you must have seen that team play. If you saw them live, there is no way that you really think this Lipscomb team would beat them. Also that Clarksville NE team was undefeated and 14th in the country at that time. Don't think we want to start debating weak schedules. BA only finished 3rd in the country that year, so probably not very good. I believe this Lipscomb team is the best since the MBA teams of early 2000's. Why not enjoy a really impressive season without beating your chest, and trying to bash entire decades? Loads of talent doesn't necessarily make you the best. The 2012 BA team had 5 NFL guys on the team(3 starters, including Jalen Ramsey), and still got beat.

All in good fun buddy…that’s what message boards are all about..didn’t mean to make you upset….not trying to beat my chest…just trying to have a fun debate.

Go watch MBA vs Clarksville NE 1995 on you tube and get back with me. This is not about LA.  It’s more about comparing eras.  They are small and SLOW compared to the top teams today.

Ive stated this before when every team that wins state claims to be the best ever. By the way that BA team had a 6'7 365lb left tackle(Texas). Their defensive line was as follows: 6'4 255, 6'7 285, 6'2 245, 6'6 260. Not to mention 6'3 and 6'2 receivers. This is the tiny team from the 95 BA squad!

I was more of an MBA fan then, but that BA team was the best I have seen in the 46 years I have followed TN high school football(even better than the 72 TN High team). With the big uproar now over financial aid, let's remember then you could only have 3 football players on financial aid actually play. They had the best coaches and unbelievable talent!

That BA team had the most dominating defense this state has seen. The starting defense was loaded with college players. Here is their lineup and college they played at:

    DE Air Force
    DT MTSU
    NG nowhere
    DT Memphis
    DE Tennessee
    LB Nebraska
LB Georgia Military ( Tito Lee. The best player on the team, but didn't qualify)
    CB Virginia Tech
    CB Tennessee
    SS Vanderbilt
    FS Tennessee

Most of these guys played on offense too. An offense that had receivers that went to Ole Miss and Army, and a tackle that went to Texas.

That may be what they weigh now but certainly not then…bland was 320 at Texas…maybe he dropped 45 pounds in college.  That team almost dropped one to Clarksville NE in playoffs…score was 7-3 I think…thinking Thompson was a little better than that Clarksville team.  As much as you want to, you can’t compare teams from 30 years ago to today…schemes and strength programs are massively more advanced.  Plus that BA team played a very weak schedule….not their fault but just the facts.

Let's be honest and say that Lipscomb Academy "IS NOT" a boarding school like Webb, McCallie, Saint Andrews or Baylor so the kids must live with their family in the Nashville area.  If kids from states other than Tennessee transferred into LA due to the head coach being Trent Dilfer what is the problem?  It would be just like when Coach Prime was coaching at the high school level in Texas.  Do people really not believe that people don't transfer into Westlake to play for Todd Dodge or into Southlake Carroll to play for Riley Dodge?  Folks it's really simple, families that have children with football talent want to play for big name coaches for the exposure.  It's not the coaches or schools' fault if families move into the school's zone.  Are people naive enough to believe that in the 70's & 80's families didn't move into or use fake addresses so that their sons could play baseball for Mel Brown at McGavock High School in Nashville.  Did families not move to Maryville or Alcoa to play football for GQ or GR?

That’s true but the reality is the vast majority of the LA players are local…not sure why some folks refuse to believe it.

How many of these kids have been from other states? Honestly who can't win with that roster. Coaching is one thing , hand picking is another. Recruiting TN kids is one thing but heck you've had 20 plus top ranked kids come from all over the US.

2…QB and the 3rd best WR

but that wasn’t the question….name a better HS Tenn team.

If you read the Oakland vs Beech thread on last two pages, Oakland fans are saying they would boat race LA, BA, Baylor, McCallie, and MBA. Even though CPA spanked them. Fact is LA, BA, Baylor, McCallie, and MBA would beat the brakes off every public school team in Tennessee. Watching the Oakland vs Beech game took my back to 1947. They couldn’t keep up with the scoring from these Top tier D2 schools. You’ve got to have a D1 QB, and some stud athletes.

Yes!!! I agree.  This years Oakland team would have lost to last years team…and this years LA team would’ve beaten last years team….imo

    keep ‘em coming…..

Booger, I tend to agree with Flee. But just for debate sake, I would drop the 1973 Baylor Team for the 1972 Tennessee High team that beat Baylor 39-6 in the state finals. The game took place in the Castle. TN High could have named the score. TH was pronounced mythical National Champions that year.

    Thanks bud!

need to keep the discussion to teams in the 2000’s….all others will be dismissed by the committee unless you can provide evidence…..(and boog voted me commissioner)

Payin tention to how this goes down Flea21...anyone that nose FB nose size is a nice thing to possess....there were teams as far back as even 50's that Booger would lay down a bill with that lightnin rod inventors pic on it to win gainst your Lipscomb Academy..... a few of the teams maybe a lil smaller than LA would chew the meat of some of those monster linemen Flea21 keeps boastin bout.....there are teams maybe to the fact some of sum of those LA Mustangers might not even want to come back out after half time

.....Booger gonna throw out just a couple teams at Flea that are way back...and not even sayin they were the best in TN HS history....and they ant BA teams....Flea may have to go to grandfather flea look these up...or google them when flea is googlin who the lightnin rod inventor was..

.....late 58 Oakridge team.....national championship and state title...

....early 60's Chattanooga Central team....national championship and state title

    .....1973 Baylor team

    ....2014 Whitehaven team

    .....2017 Lausanne team

    Booger just sayin :thumb:

Not even worth googling…LA would be favored by 40 over all of them…maybe 30 on the Lausanne team.  Thought you were smarter than to compare teams from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s to todays teams.  LAs corners are bigger than their lines.

2022 Bama would beat 1975 Bama by 50.  This is not debatable.

..Flea21 bein happy, proud and dead exhausted from shakin Flea21 pom poms til ant nothin but plastic handle left......but Flea21 got to bail off it before that O2 level bottoms out and Flea21 chokes to death....

....Booger bettin Flea21 ant even old nuff to remember these 90's teams all these T'ers blowin up...and trust Booger...it aint no BA team these T'ers are jackin up

.....that LA team of Flea21 may.....just may crack the top 10.....Booger bettin top 15 is a safer bet

    Booger just sayin:thumb:

Give me a better one Boog….state your case.  LA starts 22 different players with 13 different players having power 5 offers….not just D1…power 5.  The lines both ways average about 275.  Those teams in the 90s didn’t have that.

Beat the state champ from the highest classification in Alabama.  The scheme/coaching not half bad either.

Lol… check your posts.  You hate dilfer…not one positive word in last 4 years (I guess he took some good ones that would’ve gone to DCA)….and also hate LA  by association.  Give it a rest…dilfer is gone.  You can sleep easy now.  DCA should be back on top now.

love or hate LA, I don't think any team in TN history that I can recall has taken on that type of out of state competition and won...3 games against top out of state competition and 3 wins.  BA and MBA have some history beating good out of state teams, but not 3 in the same season.  So, yes they are on the short list.

    --BA '95-'96, undefeated in 5A pre-split for 2 years

--MBA '98 - '00  Ingle Martin, Hunter Hillenmeyer--and Ricky Bowers

--Ensworth '10-'13: Corn Elder and Orleans Darkwa were 2 future NFL players in the same backfield, with Teverres Jefferson at QB--and Ricky Bowers

But my favorite will always be '92 Gallatin.  That's the last team ever to run the table in 3A, 15-0, no public/private split.

Good post…thank you. That Ensworth team was a good one….would put last years Oakland team on the list as well.

My main point was, in my opinion, really only the last 10-15 years are comparable.

The 80’s and 90’s BA teams were small by todays standards. The 88, 89 BA team had a 5’7 QB that didn’t throw….and I love me some Casey Alexander.  Just different eras.  Todays football is just better.

You can research it, you’re obviously new at that school or you would know. And yes, he was fake crying. If you’re crying for over 30 seconds, there are tears running down your cheeks. It’s Fake Crying 101, I took the class.

Researched…gca Franklin, Tn.  We played y’all in middle school.  Cool campus!

why would you take a fake crying class? Odd.

  16. Could this be the best Tennessee football team of all time? I’m wearing  a Kevlar vest so bring it on…

But seriously…we all know that the last 10 years of football are much better than football in the 00’s or 90’s…so give me a better team….LA has 10-15 high d1 players…what other team had that?

  17. 13 minutes ago, gcapride said:

I never said anything about being good or bad for Lipscomb. I referred to TN HS Football and his stupid antics. Didn’t mention all of his comments, but those too, and the way he treated us as a school and a radio station in the quarterfinals. And, yes, it should’ve been embarrassing to see a grown man fake cry on TV. BTW, I’m from the original GCA…

Sorry…who are you and when did we play you? I don’t want to research.  You really think Trent fake cried?  Why would he do that?

  18. 1 hour ago, MichaelMyers76 said:

    Right.

Why should the subs that attended every practice, every weight training session, every team meeting, get to say they played in a state championship game? I mean they might blow our shutout. We are only up 42!!!!!

Seriously, that was bush league. Nothing you can spin will make that right.

Your negativity is so tiring…running clock who cares…would  that have really made you feel better if we subbed for a few plays?

CPA kept their first string d in with 6 minutes left in the game…so you want LA to play backups so that the other team can maybe get the ball back and make the ending score closer???

That makes so sense to me…if ingle subbed so would Trent ….I know that for a fact.

Dilfer is a disgrace to TN High School Football Coaching. You seem like a decent poster, still new so we will see. His antics are ridiculous and the HS game, at least in TN, doesn’t need it. Glad to see him go. Warming up at another HS and bussing in with 2:00 on the clock before game time, absurd. I was the color guy on our radio broadcast for 8 years. We had 1 opposing coach in 8 years refuse to do a 5 minute phone interview for the pregame show during game week. Take a guess who that self righteous coach was? And the post game interview today, with the fake crying??? You guys should be embarrassed by that on TV. Let alone throwing it in the end zone with :29 to go…. Lipscomb is getting ready to pay a bunch of receipts over the next few years.

Good lord…how to even respond.  Embarrassing…feel sorry for gca…although not sure which one.

whatever you think about lipscomb doesn’t matter.  He made our school stronger…and yes I have a son who played 3 years  for him and didn’t see the field much…and loves him.  So who are you to tell me what was good for Lipscomb?

I'm an outsider too, and I think the answer is both.  From what I know, some well-heeled Lipscomb people put their money where their mouth is to build a top notch football program...they questioned why as a faith-based school with similar enrollment numbers they couldn't be BA or CPA.  Whatever your feelings are about him, there is no denying that Dilfer has done an incredible job there...it's not just the commitment.  They lost what looked like most of their best players from last year and are a lot better this year.  I read the article about the Spillman kids...pretty amazing, those kids were bound for LA whether they were athletes or not, they just happened to turn out to be incredible athletes.  My son has played sports against Kaleb Beasly his whole life...he could have just as easily ended up at Ensworth or BA, but chose LA long before Dilfer really had it going.  Pretty sure the High kid is a homegrown LA kid.  So that's a bunch of their best players right there that aren't exactly recruited kids from all over.  Dilfer has made them real high level recruits.

I don't care for a lot of the comments Dilfer has made to have come and gone in 4 years, but he's an incredible football coach.  He will not be easy to replace, even with a big financial commitment.

    Good post…agree!
