Thoughts?
This board has turned into such a Joke! We go from Middle School Heroes, now we are down to debating elementary school teams. Some of you parents have way too much time on your hands! Some of your keyboard warrior time should be spent making sure your kids are getting better!

Have you listened?
He talked about traveling their #### off , and how the parents understand what it takes to win
and how he started the girls program from finding the toughest girls in cleveland haha sounds like he recruited the hallways. Haha
The hate is strong for Cleveland’s dominance in boys and now getting stronger and stronger in girls. Must be sickening.
He talked about telling the parents that they would do certain things if they came to school at the C! Even bragged about a $250,000 investment they made on a promise to the parents.

Knox doesn’t go up to any kid or parents and ask them to come to Cleveland. No matter how mad it makes some on here. I remember a couple years ago when Max beat Luke Belcher in the state semis (I believe) Knox said he became a huge fan of him. And only a few months later Shane Chittum hosted the Ga/TN Elite dual in Chattanooga when Max wrestled. He went up talking to him and never once brought up coming to Cleveland. It was a normal conversation about how he wrestled.
They may reach out to Cleveland about wanting to come and sometimes it’s not worth it for them because they may not make the lineup anyway.
Has anyone had the chance to listen to the podcast with Bosken and Mike Hatcher! It sounds like he lays out the entire recruiting process! You may want to take a listen to that.

I don’t think many of them have at all, I know askew wrestles for Georgia usually during the offseason. It was just a question I had as I was wondering what the rules are against it in other states.
My understanding of this rule, is it depends on where the parents are domiciled and pay taxes as a resident. They could wrestle for the State of TN if their resident state would release them to TN. Most states will not release the athlete. Someone on the USA Board would have a better understanding of this.

We would have beat yall last year as well. Father Ryan beat yall in the state finals and we beat them with Tran wrestling
What does that have to do with dodging anybody, which was the crux of your post. Nobody is dodging you, because nobody cares.

Once again. Cleveland had a JV in and would have adjusted our lineup. But again. That was 4 years ago!! lol We are asking now.
A 10 year contract is a 10 year contract! Guess who the C would be wrestling if they would have signed it ? Unfortunately it’s more about Instagram and Facebook post for you guys than it is actual wrestling. Keep being the Logan Paul of Tennessee wrestling! Got to get your guy paid on camps!

You Baylor boys better be glad Cooper Hilton didn’t certify for us. Then it would have been worse.
You barely beat Father Ryan, I can tell you’re not the smartest guy, but how does that math work?

This is what makes me laugh! This is Rex asking Joey Knox to set up a Home and away Dual! Joey was offered a 10 year Home and away contract! Cleveland declined, Joey was quoted as saying that” Cleveland would only Wrestle when it made sense for them”. I am sure Rex and Baylor would be more than happy to set up a long term contract, but as we all know Cleveland will not do that.

Baylor would NOT wrestle Cleveland when Knox tried to! What’s does that tell you?
That tells me that maybe Baylor could care less about Cleveland! Show the proof! It is not hard to upload a screen shot!

Rule is cannot have competed in a TSSAA sanctioned sport year prior. So no one that competes at state should be allowed to transfer without sitting out a year. Baylor doesn’t show interest to unproven commodities-because Baylor doesn’t develop talent. The F/G argument is smoke and mirrors to distract from the fact they are recruiting folkstyle state title winners. Make a Baylor rule-they can transfer to Baylor and get in the room and travel out of state (that’s what the parents and kid are there for) but the kid sits out state duals and individuals.
Nice name change from Manhole to Matmatics! We get it you are a Father Ryan guy and you are pissed! Do we have to do this again this year?

This looked like a great event for some of the South’s wrestlers to get some great matches!

That's good that they can do that then. Not gonna lie though, kinda bummed out though. We could have legally transferred a couple years ago.
I've been in favor of kids going where it's best for them for a long time. Early on in this thread even. I just didn't understand that portion of the rule. I thought it was any coaching connection. (And was told so).
We're not in a bad position by any means, just could have been at a place with high expectations, standards and the ability to level up quicker.
I think this rule will eventually change. Prior to NIL passing there were no monetary damages with a rule like this. Now because of earning potentials in High School and definitely once an athlete goes to college, there are damages that could be quantified, all it would take is one lawsuit.

I don't really care, let kids go where they want.
But coaching a kid for an off-season tournament (Fargo) counts as a "coaching connection" by any standard.
Are you saying that a kid can go to club wrestling ran by another schools coach and transfer there without sitting a year. That's what you're saying? The coaches don't know what they're talking about I guess.
I guess they don’t. If they were coaching folkstyle, a coaching link would exist. Freestyle and Greco are not sanctioned TSSAA sports, therefore a coaching link can not exist. A precedent was set years ago with outdoor and indoor volleyball! With a little research or even a phone call to TSSAA, you can easily verify that this is correct. There is a difference between thinking you know the rules and actually knowing what you are talking about!

From the rule book...
If a student with an athletic record transfers to a new school where an “athletic coaching link” existed
in the past 12 months, that student is ineligible for 12 months past their first date of enrollment at the
new school at all levels in the specific sports where a linkage was present. Links may include (1)
attendance at an individual camp (and then transferring); (2) playing on non-school (independent)
teams (and then transferring to that coach’s school); (3) transferring into a school where a former
coach has been hired; and (4) transferring to a school where a former or current personal trainer or
strength and conditioning coach is employed.
This rule does not apply if the student moves to his/her new schools after completion of the highest
ending grade at his/her previous school.
If the ineligible transfer student has an athletic record for the previous or current school year in any TSSAA
sanctioned sport, the student will be ineligible to participate in the sport(s) in which an athletic record has been
established. That is a fascinating read, but it does not change the fact that it does not apply to non sanctioned sports! This came up years ago with outdoor and indoor volleyball.

Once again Baylor wrestling gets to by pass every rule on recruiting for athletic purposes and prior contact between coaching staff with athlete.
Back again I see, last year it was complaining about Sturgill, now it is the Norman’s! Obviously you don’t understand the rules!

TSSAA has a coaching connection rule. If a student goes to a mini camp or summer league event or is coached by another coach in the off season, that constitutes a connection. According to the rule, student is required to sit out a year.
We wanted to transfer schools until we found this rule. Our kid was enrolled at school A with an athletic record. Kid does off-season/club stuff with school B. Wanted to transfer to school B but would have to sit out a year. We were willing to sell our house and move. In the end, the coach at school B, as much as he would have liked to have our kid (at a weight that he could have helped a lot) told us to stay at A. First class guy who plays by the rules.
That rule only applies to TSSAA sanctioned sports! Freestyle and Greco are not TSSAA sanctioned sports! I think that is where most people don’t get this rule correct!

I don’t have a club or school organization that would benefit from the event.
If Hatcher as already been told the event will be funded. What exactly would Hatcher need me for if funding was the issue and now seems to have been solved.
If you not going to email me to have a discussion I can reach out to Hatcher but again seems odd to not want to talk to the person who tells me the funds are covered to have the event.I am not sure what about this you can’t understand. You have the ability and funding to do a girls Tennessee against Georgia wrestling dual. The funding is there. You have to call Hatcher since it is a TNUSA event to discuss your plans and how this event will go. get with him today and start this moving! The funds will be given to TNUSA wrestling directly. Your mission is to give the girls exactly what the boys had use the same facilities everything else can be exactly the same. I would not waste my time talking to you, cause I’m betting donuts to dollars, you won’t do a darn thing. Money is there the ball is in your court! Good luck!

also it was never talking trash I brought something up and now look at the progress being made for brining it up. You have someone committed to fund the event. Hard questions create opportunities. We already have a TEAM TN established so I’m sure when they head over to train together the event could be a pre Tulsa event.
Send me your contact email.Or email me tnwrankings
at gmail.com
Contact Mike Hatcher, and give him your plan! Put your words in action, and show this will be a well planned out event that will do good things for the entire state not just your club/ school and funding will be there. The funding and opportunities have always been there, up until now it has been all talk and no action. We will see if you’re full of #### or not. I guess it is time for you to get to work! Your comments did nothing to help this happen! Other than it’s time for all you guys that sit around on your butt and talk trash can actually get out and do some work, Instead of blaming other people and the TNUSA board. The individual that said he would help fund this wants to stay anonymous, but he has already spoken to the chairman of Tennessee USA wrestling.

I am not sure about these! There is this really good third grader in East Tn!!!!!! How about you actually let them compete in Cadets and Juniors before you start crowning them champions! I know this has turned into the Elementary/middle school espy awards, but let’s see what happens during competition.
