FC got McCurry after the Marion Co fiasco and he was never the same. Yeah Mac did some asinine things at time but it's not like he was a flash in the pan type coach with only one group of kids. He had 9 region titles at Moore along with a trip to the state title game where his team lost by a 2pt conversion falling a yard short. He then went on to have 3 region titles at Marshall Co. He also had success in Mississippi before coming back to TN. Franklin Co was his only stop in TN where he had a losing record. I'm not trying to condone some of the craziness that took place but the guy's overall record speaks for itself. (212-87) Most coaches don't have a lifetime winning percentage of 71% (and the Franklin Co years brought that down) so I could see why the Rebels gave him a shot.

Now back on topic, I think either QB for Nolensville will be fine. The bigger question is can Tullahoma generate any offense against the Knights' defense.

He did really well in small school FB and better players than other small school teams.  He didn't have to play anyone in the late 80s or 90s in small school football

That is because Caleb and Jared Olive are running the offense. And Coach Olive's sons ARE NOT Conservative.

You know how many times ive seen tullahoma play to not lose, ITS ALOT! Thats called having a conservative mindset.

A conservative mindset may come from not Trusting your QB. If you have a QB that can run a little you could utilize the read game.  Defense would have to play 11 on 11.   After watching the Shelbyville game I would run it 3 times punt it and play defense.  Try to get a turnover or FG.  No way would I lose a game throwing balls up for grab like against Shelbyville.  I guess the best thing about that was he threw it so bad neither team could get to it!  They picked him so that must be their reason to let him chunk it down field.

It's sad how Franklin County has been up and down but, mostly down over the past several years. I actually thought when they brought McCurry in that he was going to turn them around but, seems like control of the program still hasn't been wrestled away from (outsiders).

I think we take this one walking away and get ready for round two.

You are talking about the McCurry that was at FC for 4 years and never had a winning season or made the playoffs?

Tullahoma's problem is they went from a Ultra Conservative Coach to a Ultra Aggressive Coach. Run the ball 3 times and play defense, to throw 3 40 yard passes, punt and completely gas your defense. If Mason Bratcher is completing those long passes tullahoma is hard to beat. But if not, Nolensville will have the ball alot. Honestly the backup, Lucas Reed should be the QB. He is a runner under pressure. Bratcher does not run at all, he'd rather take a incompletion. But politics has really fudged up Tullahoma.

No true leadership on this staff!  No one in Control!  They do what they please on one side and they do what they please on the other side of the ball. No one in charge to correct both sides of the ball and make football decisions during the game and in practice.  Ultimately decisions have to be made by the  HC. It goes on his record not the assistants.

When Olive was there he was in control of both sides of the ball and made all decisions!  It is a loose cannon now.

    Great Read!

A community that is struggling in Football for years needs some consistency.  The Coach seems to care and works hard.  You can not find that today in young coaches.  They do not know how to sustain a job, especially if it is a tough job.

This job is like being a good hitter in baseball.  3 for 10  you are  a success story even though you are failing 7 times.

    Keep building!

  6. Clean sweep by Region 6.

Years ago Tullahoma was in a Region where they played football.  Tullahoma was a four seed and took out #1 Beech in the first round at Beech and the Tullahoma region swept the opposite side.  1. Hillsboro, 2. Maplewood, 3. Whites Creek and 4. Tullahoma, More SEC and college Football players came out of that Region than any region I have seen.

Crazy tough region.  Unlike the Powder puff games today.

I know Nathan Delaughter struggled here at Tullahoma, they should have been more   patient with him. And when he was struggling last year was when Tullahoma was missing several players  because of suspensions for undisclosed reasons.  What makes it even worse is Nathan's father Tim Delaughter was a star at Tullahoma, and was involved in Tullahoma sports for years, also his uncle Devin Delaughter played football in Tullahoma.

Delaughter struggled against the best teams in the Region last year.  #10 got to play vs. teams that won maybe one or two games in years.  They put #10 in a position to be successful.  Nathan didn't get that chance.  They were young and bad last year.  This year they benefited from a very poor region Top to Bottom.  You do not set a kid up to succeed when your starter has faced the fire in his starts. It will come back to haunt you and there you have it.  Good for Delaughter winning the region.  I hope he wins a few more games along the way in the playoffs.

Tullahoma made their bed.  They are staggering to the finish line with a weak schedule.  More than likely 1 and done next week.  Tullahoma will post themselves up all off season saying we made it to the playoffs.  They will not mention the poor teams they got to play along the way to put up a 7-3 mark.  100yds of offense last night.  26 on one carry I think.  Bad play.  Defense spent the night on the field.  They good thing is they get the same poor region next year and possibly the same outcome.  SCHS & Tullahoma will be ahead of a poor region again.

I think the program would be in the same state it is in. Hard to win with the talent gap between them and surrounding areas. They do have several young players that are 9th and 10th graders who look like they are going to be pretty good, but I’m not sure they have enough of them to matter. Coaching staff tries hard and cares a lot  but is mediocre/average at best, which won’t do much to overcome the talent gap. No winning seasons since 2015, no playoff wins since ‘07.

They beat a good stewerts creek team on the road with Don Thomas as the head coach. Second round was at home vs. Beech

I think Shelbyville had last night's game circled on there calendar all season. They were better prepared and outplayed Tullahoma.  I think  a lot of Tullahoma fans underestimated Shelbyville's team speed, they have been a quick strike offense all season. Tullahoma's play calling, and the play of Mason Bratcher was pathetic.  When you have a quarterback who is inconsistent, and not very mobile, you're not going to be very successful. They should have at least tried the backup QB Lucas Reed, he is only a sophomore, he is a better athlete.

Shelbyville had a chance to blow them out of the water but could never capitalize.  Tullahoma was lucky it wasn't a beat down early.  The Eagles kept putting it in their lap to stay in the game and the t-town offense just kept laying eggs.  If SCHS had a better offensive scheme they might be really dangerous in the playoffs.  You have all that speed and you put them in a box to run it.  Spread them out.  Speed all over the field.  Never bring speed into the box and help the defense.

After seeing the condition they were in previous years, I think this is an improvement. They will never return to the greatness they had in the 90s but it's understandable with another school in the area. I think it's comparable to Riverdale's situation in Mboro. They will never again be what they once were.

I agree 100%.  But they fired  Don Thomas the last coach to win there when things got tough and have had 3-4 coaches since then.  If they had left DT alone the program would be much better off

    Columbia 35

    Lincoln Co 19

Not many Falcons fans on the T I don't believe, but I want to congratulate Lincoln Co on a fine season. Saw two games in the Pit. Thought the team really fought hard!

Congrats to Columbia on making the postseason.

Kind of lowering the standards for the ole power house.  They beat 3 teams.  One a single A school with 3 wins on the year by 1 point.  Tough to see LC struggle every year.

  12. Tullahoma had 7 W's vs. Teams with a combined 16 W's & 38 L's.  I am not sure why people thought they were going to beat  Shelbyville.  Shelbyville kept handing the game over to them and they kept throwing up all over themselves.

Very bad Region and very poor Football.  Coaching has taken a step backwards.

The only hope for the Region is for Shelbyville to win their first round game.  But if those are the only 3-4 run plays and the pee wee football  pass plays they have they are dead in the water too.

And for Tullahoma, how many times can you heave a ball in the air over everyone in a game or on any given 3 play series. Sad sad sad.  Looked like powder puff passing game.

Just a note to all the Tullahoma hate on this thread. When your team wins a region game by 25 points, aren't you happy? I mean, should Tullahoma fans be sad because they beat a bad region opponent? Like every other team in the state, the T$$AA picks the regions and the region games. All Tullahoma can do is play the slate and try to get better each week.

They did that this week against a struggling Lincoln Co. team that lacks the speed to compete for a region title. The Falcons' QB is accurate, but his team made a lot of mistakes.

Tullahoma looked better on offense (I know, it was against a bad team). Still, the confidence the Wildcat offense should gain with successful drives and big plays should carry over into the second half of the season. Remember the Wildcats were without two of their top playmakers on both sides of the ball (Kai Johnson and Ethan Hargrove). Lots of young players got their first playing time of the season.

Tullahoma keeps forcing turnovers and scoring off those opportunities. It's called complimentary football. All three phases are equally important.

Right now I think Columbia and Shelbyville are clearly the top two teams, with Tullahoma and Franklin Co. looking like the next two.

I believe Columbia comes into Wilkins Stadium and beats Tullahoma this week, spoiling the Wildcats' homecoming.

Shelbyville will go to Winchester and hand the Rebels another loss, dropping FC to 1-5 on their season.

Lawrence Co. at Spring Hill? The Raiders are a surprising 2-3 and I think they might challenge the Wildcats. I'll step out on a limb and pick Spring Hill.

Lincoln Co. steps out of region play and has no chance at Giles Co.

No one said anything about TSSAA Region.  What was said was that maybe you shouldn't think you are really good in the preseason, when you have the weakest region in the state and now lose your first Region game to a team that got blown out by MC.  and is 1-4 and you are their only win!

Is it fair to say last year they played their starting QB vs the best competition and The back up vs. lower level competition?  At the end of the year when it came time to play for a playoff spot they lost that game because they didn't have a QB at all.  Destroy one to make one look good.  He looked good Friday vs terrible competition.  Just admit it!.  Stop beating around the bush.  I don't care who made the region up.  It is  what it is.  Just say the truth.  The cats are bad against avg teams.  They look good against bad teams.  Black and White!!!.  Don't sugar coat it because it is your team.

They got better this week because of poor competition.  Not because they are any different then last week.

They will make the playoffs and get beat in the first round.  I guess this will be called a success.  If they were in a  region with any amount of good teams they would not make the playoffs.  They are lucky to have Spring Hill, Law co, Linc Co in their region.   You can dress a pig up but it is still a pig.   I  truly don't care but start stating the facts.  I hope Shelbyville runs the table for the  QB.

    Columbia pounds Law Co.

Tullahoma Rolls on a very weak Linc Co.

Maybe Tullahoma will use their very efficient hurry up offense we have heard about.  Or was it efficient because they got short porches from Rockvale and Turnovers.  They had plenty of time to score and beat FC and got one deep ball to mid-field nothing else.  Bad D on FC that late in the game.  Should have kept everything in front of them and tackle but  It should work well vs. a weaker team.

This guy is all over it!  Linc Co.  Is pitiful!  You can only imagine how bad Spring Hill is.  Tullahoma fans will think they are good after this game.  This guy is a genius.  Praise to Cakeman!  .  T-town is able to blow it out vs a terrible team.  They will run it up so they can say they did something~  Sad sad sad!   Tullahoma is not very good at all.  They will finish 4th in region and get beat in first round of playoffs!..

Be interesting to see how many attempts Chadwick has tonight. Of all the games, this one could come down to getting him close enough to be effective, get the win, and get out of dodge.

They haven't had a video with their kicker counting his field goals on the sidelines lately!  If you can count the long ones you make shouldn't u have to count the long ones u miss on a video so every one can see that too?

  16. 1 hour ago, SouthernTNguy said:

Your right in your assessment, some people don't want to hear the truth.  I wouldn't count Tullahoma as #4 either.  The offensive line  is undersized, and you're right the play calling is terrible. An undersized offensive line, and two many three and outs, are not going to win many ball games,  In my opinion this years Tullahoma offense, reminds me of the winless  2015 season. They had a more talented quarterback in Delaughter, who is a better athlete, and let him transfer. Turns out that was the best fit for him to do.

    You are correct.

I don't think you can make changes at the OC position but you can make HC changes in the near future.  That program is in trouble.  Too many tied to the AD.  No real vets on the staff that have great knowledge of the entire game of football.  You have to have some older guys on staff that have been there and done that at winning programs.  The former HC always had his hands in the Offense, Defense and special teams.  Too much freelancing and letting coaches do their own thing!  The one spot they can win they didn't coach.  The kicker has his coach outside of HS coachs coaching him.  The rest listen to the HS coaches.  They better kick a lot or continue behind their false offense

  17. I think it is funny how some people want to keep putting a positive spin on a tail spin of an offense.  Tullahoma has an awful offense.  They had two pass plays that gained half their yards in Friday nights loss.  It is like the Federal Government with Tullahoma people.  Keep the cover up going.  Play calling is poor.  Scheme is poor.  They made this QB a super star vs. poor competition last year while they threw the QB that is at Shelbyville now  under the bus with games vs the best competition in the region.  Make one look bad and one look good.  A good OC can find a way to move the ball with below par players but a poor one can only win with good players.

Tullahoma should be successful against Linc Co, Law Co and Spring hill.  All 4 of those teams are bad.  They will try to make the offense look really good for those games.  They will struggle vs. Columbia and Shelbyville.

They will make the playoffs and keep patting themselves on the back for being a state playoff team and a successful season,  If they can keep kids from quitting.

Keep making hype post and keep showing your kicker counting his field goals on the sideline it makes for a Good  TEAM concept.  Remember....don't forget your Free Kicks to get points!

    1.  Shelbyville

    2.  Columbia

    3. FC

    4. Tullahoma

The last time these teams played was 2020, with the Cats winning 41-7. John Olive was 20-8 against the Rebels. The previous eight games have been split 4-4.

Tullahoma's defense will thwart the Rebel attack. The Wildcats have owned the fourth quarter in their last two games, with the defense forcing turnovers in both. Offensively, the Cats found their stride late against Rockvale, but when they found it they were unstoppable.

Special teams leans heavily on the Tullahoma side.

    Cats -9.5

Crystal ball cloudy  Tullahoma has no offense!  last time tullahoma had offense was semi final game vs haywood

Proves it was the players~  Kick FG and you win.  Went for it.  Only offense is a kicker.  you better use him more.  two long misses on the heavily favored special teams.  They will still make the playoffs.  Lose in the first round

  19. 18 hours ago, SouthernTNguy said:

Grant Chadwick is a great kicker no doubt about that.  But Tullahoma can't rely on the field goal kicker alone. You're not to going win games with no  passing game., and no running game. It appears to me the Tullahoma coaching staff is on over there heads, if they don't make some changes, a playoff berth looks slim. it should tell people something when Nathan DeLaughter, struggled at Tullahoma, and transferred to Shelbyville and has a much better year for them.

All we have heard is last years bad  season was due to a bunch of young guys.  (They played more than the starters during the championship run. They played the entire second half in most games)  This year what is the excuse?  They have a weak region that they should dominate every team.  If they don't dominate and they miss the playoffs where is the fault then?

They should do well in region play.  The only team with a winning record from last year in the region was FC 7-3.  They lost a lot of players.

    Through Week 2

FC 0-2 Loss to a poor CC team

Tull 1-1 WIn over a poor CC team with 67 yds of offense

    Shelby 1-1 Win over Marshall

LC 1-1 with a 1 pt win over Richland

LaC 1-1 with a win over Summertown and loss to Loretto

Columbia 1-1 with a loss to Marshall 16-0  Shelby beat

SH - 0-2  with Loss to MT. Pleasant

Wow!  Has got to be the worst region in the state.  Might be a 6 way tie for first or Last!

Tullahoma needs to utilize their kicker more.  Free kick, drop kick, fake kick kick, Quick kick, on side kick, pop up kick, kick it out  of the end zone, squib kick  and more field goals.  Maybe line him up wide, throw it to him and let him kick it from there.  HaHa!

Tullahoma's non-region opponents for 2023-24 are Stewarts Creek, Coffee County, Rockvale, and Warren County. All are 6A schools.

What does that matter?  Those are probably the weakest 6A Teams you could schedule.  Those teams didn't want any part of real 6A Teams in non Region.   Those are non region games.  The only game they might win out of those is Warren County.   If they do not win the weak region they are in what happens then? I have always heard every AD has an index card with the next 3 names to hire as the coach in his desk.  I guess now days that would be in your notes on your phone.  How many teams that made it to the State Championship game last year and missed the playoffs this year?  Several are returning to the Championship game.  Some are at home licking their wounds from  lack of control in the locker rooms and weight rooms. RB suspended for last game of the year.  But the excuse will be we are young, facts are they  Probably had more playing time then the starters most the games last year, plus JV games and practice all summer and a big first game win over a 1-10 team on the year.  They should have been better but its all because the kids are young.

Did they beat a team with a winning record? Shelbyville 1-10, Glencliff 0-10, Hillwood 2-8, Montgomery Central 2-8.
