Congratulations to McMinn Central!! Had a tough draw and did well. Westview’s 2-3 zone causes everyone problems. Don’t feel bad. That is all they run and there is no reason to run anything else because they do it well.

Absolutely. Outcoached and outplayed the Chargerettes tonight.

Gibson County beat westview and played them closer all times than McMinn has. Hart doesn’t foul out with 3 minutes left and they were up 5… it’d be a District 12  State Championship.

And Central beat Bradley 4A State Champs. Ifs and buts. Central was up before she fouled out. You lost and will again next year.

Someone asked how Central lost 7 games this season? You just saw it. They're too streaky on offense. If they aren't getting turnovers, fastbreaks, and free throws,  they lose.

    Congratulations Westview. Well deserved!!!

Seymour has had some notable applications. I was shocked to learn of some of the locals out of Knox County that have applied. A lot of Knox County assistants are interested in this job to get their feet wet. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

Did they not promote from within?

Hire someone that wants to be there for a long time. That’s one of the keys to small school programs.

Programs don't want loyalty it seems. They want the flashy, popular hire that flames out every 3 years (not saying that is what Greenback is doing here). I dream of being a head coach of a program for the next 20+ years. I coordinated for 7 years but I never networked with the coaching community. If I had it to do again, I would have introduced myself to every coach, administrator, and AD that I ever met.

I hope Greenback gets the right guy! I think they are looking for that home run hire!

Good hire too.Alumni that's familiar with small town ball.Ryan fit that bill for us.Small town ball is different from other classes as you know. This last fuy had no clue how to coach at a school our size!

Do you think an old school wing t would sit well at GB? Everyone loves the spread nowadays and throwing the ball around.

Here is what I learned over the weekend.

Interest - A current assistant, a former sweetwater assistant, cak assistant, meigs assistant, and head coach of another monroe county schools, former head coach in loudon county

Vestal seems solidified as Sequoyah HC, Bobby White as Tellico's coach as well. Would either of those leave after JUST ONE SEASON?!?!?

Every game outside of Central and Tyner is a winnable game.

Signal was young this season and will be a threat

Meigs was young this season and still whipped Central

Tyner will be Tyner, no chance there.

Polk is loading up on young talent and returning a lot

    Sweetwater, possible ???

    Brainerd, returning too much talent

    Tellico, possible

    Seymour, possible

    Chatt Central, nope

    Kingston, returning too much

Central is expected to be WAY down next season. I was being generous with 3 wins as a floor. It will be a struggle all season.

If he did a good job then standards and expectations for a successful program sure have hit an all time low!!!!!!

It is year 1. Wins will come. A successful program is more than winning games. Bringing a drug ridden community together, creating a family focused environment and growing young men are far more important. Like I said, the wins will come but the buy in is there from the kids and community. I love seeing all the extra events that included family in the program. These kids benefited from Coach teaching life lessons and respect.

I’ve seen both teams play and it’s my opinion that is Sequatchie’s Senior heavy line shows up and takes the game over this game want be close.  Sequatchie offense is way more dynamic than what’s I’ve seen from McMinns. Sequatchie will be harder to defend.   Now if it proves that McMinn has better athletes than Sequatchie across the board then it’s a pickup.  Should be an electric crowd and the place should be packed with home and visitors packing the place out. From what I’m hearing Sequatchie is healthy across the board anyone know if McMinn is coming into this game fully loaded?  Sickness is going around all parts of the state how is it affecting both these teams?

McMinn would beat Sequatchie 38-7. Sequatchie is not playing McMinn though. They are playing McMinn Central (Central High School of McMinn County) CENTRAL has an OL of all Seniors as well. And yes, CENTRAL is coming to the valley fully loaded. They are probably comparable to Bledsoe.

Why would they want to let him go?  Seems to me he worked hard to help the program this year.

Exactly. He did a fantastic job. He has done more for that program than anyone else has. The wins will come, but that foundation is laid.

How does our region stack up against other region?

Ranking the Quad: (Giles County will represent our Quadrant)

    1) Giles Co.

    2) Sweetwater

    3) Sequatchie

    4) Loudon

    5) Brainerd

    6) Signal Mtn.

    7) McMinn Central

    8) Kingston

    9) Cannon Co.

    10) Community

    11) Grundy County

*Based on TODAY, not head to head. Some teams improve throughout the season, some teams digress.

I don't know who #2 is, but I'm sure the coaches have a reason why he's not playing more.
I admit I didn't understand the coach's reasoning for going for it on 4th down in his territory, down 9 with that much time left. Obviously he felt like they could get a first down there, and I'm sure he regretted it after it failed. I wouldn't have attempted it under those circumstances - but that's me.
The only thing the DC had a right to be livid about is his defense giving up 49 points.

Lol good point. The QB is #2

Ever heard of the blind hog finding an acorn occasionally? :roflol:

I'll give you credit for calling this one correctly. Central's defense was vulnerable to the run, and surprisingly to the deep pass last night.

Why is #2 on the sideline when Central is on defense?

He's a defensive ballplayer at the next level. Great against the run and covers the deep ball well. Best player/tackler should play safety and HE'S ON THE BENCH?!? Why?

Why go for a 4th and long, backed up in your own territory, down 9, with 10 minutes left?!?! Bet the DC was livid!

Well how about that. Another projected Meigs loss.
We have dealt with Injuries ourselves. Our All State/ All region LB/FB has been out. Also a starter on the line. Hopefully they will be back soon. Either way I’m calling the upset and Meigs wins! Something like 35-10

lol calm down. Are you 5? I actually picked Meigs to win last week and was almost spot on for the score! I just feel like DD will scheme and win this one. When Meigs was rolling strong a few years back he played Meigs close with one of his worst teams. Just have a feeling he pulls this one out. They did score 21 on Central in the first half. We will see.

  15. Polk has dealt with injuries in Central game and hasn't been too healthy since. I believe they will be firing on all cylinders Friday. This should be "game of the week." Good luck to both teams and coaches. Should be a fun, physical football game. Two great coaches matching wits. This one will be real close. I think Polk wins in a tight low scoring affair.

    Polk 19

    Meigs 14

Meigs wins this one. Fitz' experience and IQ will bring an end to the Central winning streak. I expect the Charger offense to stall this game. It will be a defensive struggle tom nite.

                           Q1    Q2    Q3     Q4     Final

    Meigs             0       6       0        7          13

    Central          0        7      3        0          10

*And that 9-1 Central team quickly changes to 4-6 or 5-5. Only chance is Rockwood after this game.

I was close.....good game. Good on catchnburn for coming back. This was a fun thread. As it would be.

Most likely after going 0-10. Yes but it depends if administration wants to because I heard some rumors they dont care and want it gone. Also there are only a few people that could be head coach to get kids back playing.

This one will be a rough one for my cougars, I miss the old days. The old days of hard nose football, where even if we lost on the scoreboard we won in the physicality battle. We can only hope and pray that things eventually will go back to that.

This is depressing. It wasn't but a few short years ago yall were rolling as well. Good 3 year run? Maybe? Still physical then. Why would ANYONE want football gone? It prepares kids and gets them ready for adulthood. It also improves education and the student body. If they shut football down then the school will be next! I'll be praying and hoping for a strong return.
