Westview lost some key players but they return Sims who has signed to play with Tennessee. She's a stud! I think they return enough pieces around her to be very successful again this year

I agree 100 percent. Not familiar with that district or region but will they play huntingdon?

Great assessment. Home field advantage is always huge in this district and I'd be willing to give an edge to whichever team cal earn the right to host. Going to be a lot of good competition. And on the subject of Dyersburg, congratulations to Courtney Richardson who signed with Blue Mountain this morning!

Awesome congratulations to her. She's a competitor for sure

South Gibson is going to be good in 13AAA but don't sleep on the Lady Trojans. The have a lot of talent in their lineup and bringing a lot of key pieces back. Just a matter of getting everyone healthy and back on the field.

I think two of these teams out of this district will make it to the state tournament.  South Gibson will be tough. But I wouldn't take anyone in that district lightly.

Crockett co will be in that mix as well don't think they lost anyone. Dyer co will have 4 to 6  freshman that will see playing time. They going to be really young this year with mostly freshman and sophomores. I will have to give them another year.

Signal Mountain and Creek Wood both punch tickets to the Final Four.

Upperman and Dyer Co are the first to exit. Thought we might get more of a fight from DC.

Very disappointed in DC. I will say they was way undersized compared to the other teams and it showed. Seemed like they was out of system the whole tournament. Lots of errors and service errors.

Creek Wood drops their first match of the season to Harpeth tonight. This is only the 3rd match they have lost since the beginning of last season. They have only lost 4 sets in 17 games this season, all 4 to Harpeth. I am sure they will rebound, they are an extremely talented fundamental team. From the teams I have seen in AA, I still think it is theirs to lose in AA this year. Dyer, Crockett and Anderson Counties should compete as well from what I have seen/heard.

Dyer co is doing better than I thought. They just started out really slow. They lost 3 really good seniors last year one being the setter.  They have freshman setter now but she's doing really well.

I take that back, Creek Wood did lose one game in the state tourney to East Ham, then avenged that loss in the finals. But the last game since then was in August last year.

I think it will be those two teams going at it again in double A. I don't think east Hamilton lost any players.

Dyer Co. vs Univ. School of Jackson

    Lawrence Co. vs Loretto

Yes sir, daughter goes tomorrow to get cast off and to see how much she will miss. They play alot volleyball in the month of August so hopefully she won't be down to long

Harpeth played in the Brentwood Blast Off today. Not many L's on the scoreboard, but what an experience for these kids. They played Brentwood, Nolensville, Independence and Cookeville and really made all these teams work! Many people in the stands asking what school is this again??? Felt good as the little guys and can't help but think the experience of piling up sets against really good programs will be worth it all going into the regular season. We also scrimmaged Harpeth Hall earlier this week. It was another great experience!!!

Any word on the Summertown Smackdown? Saw the schedule and looked like some good matchups...

We was there but my kid went down in the first game with a bad ankle spring.  Goes to Dr Monday for xrays. Hopefully she don't miss to many games

others but someone told me they thought she would play volleyball and she can pound it into the floor!!

Lincoln County on road down 2-0 came back to win in five sets.

Should be a fun Fall 2023 for volleyball

Awesome, I'm ready to see some volleyball. I think our high school will be at the brentwood play day in August. We lost two crucial players so it will be some underclassmen stepping up.  Hopefully we have enough to make it back to state

  10. Huntingdon, Westview, and camden should do really well in 2A.

South Gibson should be up there too.  Dyer co lost 6 or 7 seniors from last year and I think they are starting 3 or 4 freshman. They starting to play better but they will take their fair share of bumps.

Huntingdon Fillies should be pretty strong this season. Young team with only one senior starting. Got 3 pitchers that know how to pitch. #1 pitcher and catcher already committed to UTM. Fast, very good defensively we ith some pop in their bats. Run ruled Dyer Co 10-0 1st game. I'm exited about this bunch,

Yes sir they looked good last night. Good luck to you guys

  12. Ok thank you TeeterTot2 and Rockstar89. We will try the college volleyball websites for sure.

I've looked and I could be wrong but I don't think theirs any satellite teams near by.  Just not a lot for volleyball in this area. Each way I go it's an hour and 45 mins. Missouri, Kentucky or Arkansas.

As far as college I think she will be happy anywhere as long as she gets to play.  It's not about D1 to us at all. She played competitive softball till last year and it's crazy at the parents wanting  their kids playing D1.

A 6'2 frame is a college player in waiting.  Even a half way decent player who is 6'2 will get college offers.  Unfortunately due to the seasons, there a very few volleyball/softball combo players.  The college coach is correct, she wont be seen unless she's playing on a club.

What about some of these college camps? Are they worth a shot or a waste of money?

Here are the committed athletes from the top 2 clubs in middle Tennessee. It's not complete as there are other clubs with players that are probably moving on to the next level. But this will be the majority.

Awesome thank you. My kid fell in love with volleyball and wants to play in college but it's going to be tough. Closest club team is about a 2 hour drive for us.  Do you guys know of any other option that may help?

  15. I don't keep up with softball as much as I used too. So I'm not sure about a state run but for the west TN teams that I think should be fun to watch and do really well in district and region.

    1. AA martin Westview they should have some really good pitching.  Really strong core group imo

    2. AAA South Gibson very young talented group of girls and well coached. Not sure about pitching but they have some strong hitters.

I just hate there isn’t ‘talk’ about teams out there so try to keep it interesting and spread the news and keep it going/try to get it going. Regardless of if it’s ‘my’ team. I am thinking of starting a podcast about TN volleyball but want to wait until my kids are done. ( I have one playing in college, and 1 in HS.) I just love the sport and hate that the game (and it’s local players) don’t get the recognition they deserve!

Keep it up sir, I have read your topics you do know your volleyball. I wasn't trying to question that.

I do know that summertown is always in the running for something and seems like there competition is always in there district.  You guys are just way ahead and it's an eye opener.

  17. Lol buddy trust me I'm not going anywhere.  Being a keyboard warrior on message board tho now that's funny.  Alpha males on a message board. Lol

I'm not trying to start a who's kid better than who. Some parents just like to cheer on there kids not live through them. I get it yall superior I'm not arguing with you on that. Let me ask you this how many got college offers this week?

If you read what I said it states some girls have to play multiple sports just to have a team.  Didn't say they would be competitive and play for a state championship.  Trust me I come peace I'm not a alpha keyboard warrior.

  18. The only single A team in west TN that might someday give these middle TN teams to break a sweat is martin Westview. There female sports is coming on quickly. I do believe they won the basketball state last year and probably will be favorite this year. Also look out for there softball team too.  I'm not sure how you guys do it but our girls have to play multiple sports just to have teams. Most play 2 sports and some even play 3.

Congrats to Eagleville and Summertown who grab the first two wins in single A!

Although....here goes my rant for the year and then I am *hopefully* done. The state tournament is not (and has never been) the tournament it should be. The best 8 teams should be involved. Summertown wins 25-5, 25-4, 25-10. I'd put my kids college money on the fact that most middle school teams in middle TN could beat Gibson County. Who are the teams that GC beat to get here? Goodness. Teams like this should not be in the state tournament. TSSAA has to find a way to make this tournament mean more, especially at the small school level. It doesn't even have to be *my* team that makes it instead of these weak west TN teams...I could name 5 teams off the top of my head who are sitting at home that would have at least made Summertown break a sweat instead of just ace-ing their opponent 40 times and managing free balls. Rant over.

Summertown / Eagleville will be a re-match of a 5 set game earlier in the year. So hopefully it will be another good one!

Bless it brother. You sure hate on West TN alot.  You guys get to move on .  No need for the rant.
