i play 2nd base for covington and yes both joe n liles had a great tourney. but liles deserves sum respect too he batted over .600 in the tourney this year. he is a definate threat on offense and defense. in my opion both deserve the privilege of the title. and it was great playin ball with joe he is a great player and friend. and by the way who is tyler cannon?

hey does ne one know when the all state team comes out?? n way to go chargers!! it was fun!

covington will have tyler mathis and the cook kid. They return a most of their starters from last years state team.
we dont have any cook kid.. but we do have several other good pitchers other than mathis.. joshua posey and gunter delashmit are other hard throwing pitchers along with the leftys jared burdette and gabe rivers.. covington has the depth to go far.

gunter dealshmit..he was named mvp of the tennessee team in the Sunbelt tournament.. and he was the lead off there too.

You may want to watch out for Lexington and Milan as well but these two team are always good. But I still say USJ will take the title once again...
Seems like every 1 is forgetting Covington this year. every 1 is talkin about USJ like they are just gonna step up into a bigger division and walk through it. covington is stacked this year with 9 seniors and most of which have started on varsity since their freshman or sophomore year...and they also have are very deep in pitching. Covington will be one to look for this year.

no way covington is commin back with most of their starters they have 9 seniors this year. they will be hard to beat and are lookin for another run at the state championship!!

Covington does have a great team this year. But I do have to disagree with the statement about this team being the best ever at Covington. The 1998 and 1999, I think were better teams. Covington in 1999 won the state championship. Winning their last 24 games straight. That year Covington started 2-5 (first five losses- 3 to Germantown, 1 to Houston, and 1 to Murfreesboro Oakland) all AAA schools. Covington finished 31-7. Not too bad if you ask me. The 1998 team was probally better talent wise, but they failed to win, when they needed too.
This years Covington team probally ranks 2nd or 3rd all time in Covington Baseball. Behind the 99' State Champion team. The difference between the 99' and 05' teams is Coaching. In 99' Covington had one of the best coaches around (Allen Pavatte- Now at Briarcrest Christian). Covington's coach this year is not liked by many people in town from what I hear. I do not think he is preparing these young guys for a state title run with the weak schedule their playing. Hopefully I'm wrong. I would like to see another State Championship Banner hanging in the shcool.
Good luck Covington the rest of the way this year. And sorry to hear about y'all miss tieing the record for consecutive wins (24) by 1 game. (23-1)
Actually we have a great coach! coach miller is one of the hardest working coaches i have ever had the privlege to play for. he scouts every team we play he knows who does what, what pitches they throw the most and when, who hits ,and what to do to stop them from hitting. he prepares us for every aspect of the game. he is very knowledgeable and with his coaching i think we will go just as far as the 99 team and finish with a better record than they did! not to say coach pivett wasnt a good coach but to down the coach that has led covington to one of the best starts in history isnt too smart. i think he is a very good coach and hope that he stays here b.c i know that a lot of people do like him and i am one of those people b.c he doesnt just teach baseball he teaches life lessons.
