You need to get your facts straight. Coach Rogers was NEVER contacted by anyone from the OC staff regarding a film swap. There was no scrimmage film to swap. How fair would it have been to swap an entire game film for one quarter of a jamboree? (The amount of time that the OC starters played.) To say that it is a lack of respect toward the OC staff is ridiculous. Dresden has had a long history of playing and scrimmaging OC. There is no disrespect. Your comments are uncalled for.
Obion Co. Central wins their season opener tonite in Troy beating the Dresden Lions 21-14....Garrett Grady led a Rebel ground attack that utilized one of their strengths, the experienced offensive line...Grady running mainly behind 3 year starter Steven Weaks,Savion Hayslett and Adam Battles gained close to 140 yards on 28 carries...Justin Ogden filling in for the injured Jacob Fulbright had a good night rushing with close to 60 yards on only 6 carries and Chase Clanton also did his usual steady job fom his slot position and also ran for close to 60 yards...Logan Parker had an efficient game, mainly handing the ball off to Grady on the mid-line option...Logan completed only two passes, but none more important than a 9 yard completion to Ogden on a 3rd and 8 late in the game to help OC run out the clock...The defense was opportunistic coming up with 5 fumble recoveries..Three by all-state running back Matt Hewitt and two by Dwayne Bailey on back-to-back series in the second half....OC has plenty to work on..This was a far from perfect performance, but it is a win nonetheless...OC had a couple big penalties that brought back big gainers and had four turnovers...Three fumbles and an interception.....OC scored first and led 7-0....Dresden scored on a blocked punt..Nanney missed the PAT and the score stood at 7-6 OC...OC took a 14 -6 lead into the locker room at half....OC then received the opening kickoff and drove easily down the field on 3 consecutive Grady runs, forcing the Lions to call timeout...But on the following play Chase Clanton fumbled the ball after a nice gain around the Dresden 10....Dresden followed that with a fumble at the Lion 20 yard line...Justin Ogden scored on the first play and OC led 21-6 after Grady's 3rd consecutive PAT....Dresden scored in the 4th quarter one play after a 4th and 8 try at the Lion 47 was no good by the Rebels....QB Justin Coleman threw a 53 yard TD pass to Randy Williams...Hewitt ran in the 2pt conversion to make it 21-14...OC held on and won their first season opener under Darren Bowling...Next up..Crockett Co..a 35-14 winner over Milan...Looks like the Cavs are for real this year...
A little side note to this game...OC had to go into the game blind as far as a scouting report...Craig Rogers, coach of Dresden, decided not to trade films with OC...Now,I don't believe it's mandatory to do this,it is a widely accepted practice..Why he decided not to do it,I don't know, but to the OC coaching staff it was perceived as a lack of respect to them as a staff and it was used as motivation by the players as it was perceived by them as an act of disrespect to the Rebel program...

You have been grossly misinformed. They both stand about 6'5" and 6'4", respectfully.
I heard that Dresden had two brothers move in from MS. One is 6'7" and the other is 6'5" that play in the line. Will these two be playing this Friday or held out until next week. I also heard they play basketball. -

I'll take Gleason on their home court.

Dresden by double figures.
-
What difference does it make who the better player is? It's just an opinion. I've seen them both play several times, and Hudson and Bailey are both great players for their respective teams. They both shoot the 3 well, both drive to the basket well, both distribute the ball well. Naturally everyone from Gleason is gonna say Hudson is better, and people from Dresden are gonna say Bailey is better. Wondering, what are the assist & turnover stats for each player?

Didn't know Dresden had a freshman named Stephanie Patterson. Her name is Stephanie Riggs, Sophomore guard is Cassie Patterson.
Dresden by 3.
No doubt that the Lady BullDogs and Lady Lions will bring their best games Friday night. These two schools have one of the most intense rivalries I have ever seen in hgih school ball.Look for Levister and Bailey to step it up for the Lions, as well as Hughes, Rook and Dubriel who have all been playing great the last few games. Freshman Stephanie Patterson might be a sleeper shooter if Bailey and Levister draw lots of pressure.
Hudson is a gem to watch for Gleason and her supporting cast adds a variety of skills from all corners of the floor.
Dresden will have a tough time if it becomes a ball control game, but I think the Lions will ROAR with a victory Friday night in Dresden.

Dresden will win if that goofy looking assistant coach will stay on the bench and just eat popcorn.

I think he was accidently left out from the original list. He was recognized the next day or so after with his picture and caption on the front page of the sports section.

Check today's Jackson Sun.

Coaches don't usually meet and vote until all of the teams in the region are out of the playoffs.

In order of finish:
1. Dresden
2. Gleason
3. Greenfield
4. South Fulton
This was a great 15A District Tourney last season and most of the main players of all the teams are back.. Dresden had a key injury last season to Bailey but she made it back for tournaments but probably not 100%.. She is all the way back this year and leads a great senior class with Levister and Quinton.. Gleason is loaded with an outstanding guard in Hudson among others.. SF is back with all the leading players from last season, but depth may be a problem for the Red Devilettes.. Greenfield as all their main players back as well Just a four team district but very competitive.. When you add Peabody an up and coming Lake County club thisseason, Region 8-1A should be exciting as always.. thumb

iceman, you seem to have a lot of problems with Dresden football. You are constantly on here making negative remarks towards them. I hope it makes you feel better.
-
Thats the same thing everyone says every year about Dresden. For the past 10 years that same line. "I think they could surprise some people again this year." is said and everyone gets their hopes up for what........a 2-3 win game season? When Dresdens goes all the way I will be convinced when someone says. "I think they could surprise some people again this year." I hope they have a good year and all but I don't think they will be surprising anyone this year or the next or the next. I would like to see a small town football team go all the way but I don't think its going to happen.
You know iceman, everyone makes those comments about every team every year, not just in Dresden. If I'm not mistaken, Dresden has averaged about seven wins the last couple of seasons. Where do you hail from and how many gold balls are in your trophy case?

Trenton must have had a BAD day. I played against both, believe me, trenton MUST have had a off game. Theres no such thing as dresden is a better baseball team.
IT doesn't really matter what you think. the bottom line is that Dresden won.
-
-
And what is Trenton known for?......thinking.........NOTHING!........oh yeah, teapots.
-
Do you realize how ignorant your comments sound? And I quote, "besides knocking down a few of our passes and 4 ints". Sounds like they did a pretty good job of shutting down the passing game. The last 2 McKenzie touchdowns were given up because Dresden wasn't gonna give up the big play and make McKenzie hit the short passes and work their way down the field. And maybe if Dresdens O Line would have stayed on their blocks a little longer, they would have sustained some drives for more points and on and on.

Obion Co hosts Dresden
in Class 1A & Class 2A

This is the last time I'll respond to this. Coach Bowling called and left a message with the secretary on Fri. the 18th concerning the changing of the playing site for a JV game. Dresden was about to board the bus for a 3 hr trip to Cross Plains. Coach Rogers shook Coach Bowling's hand and spoke with him at the rules meeting. I was there. They spoke about the change of the JV game and nothing was brought up concerning a film swap. Dresden did not scrimmage W. Carroll. There only scrimmage on film was against Dyer Co. (A team in OC's region, and they were asked to not swap the film with anyone.) The First Look scrimmage against Ripley was not filmed, either. (Cameraman forgot the AC hook up.) It's time to move on. Good luck to Obion Co. the rest of the year. Tough break for the Fulbright kid. He is a good player.
