  1. I have no dog in this fight since I'm an Oak Ridge fan, but know matter what, to see grown mean get on here and belittle two high school kids is really shameful. Be supportive of the kids that stayed and move on.

Even if Grace did recruit and offer them something, who can blame them for accepting, but the bottom line is most parents would do the same thing if they had the opportunity. I've seen those kids play and both have played hard for Rockwood from little league to high school. The truth of the matter is that they both are good players and none of you all would be whinning about it if they weren't. Rockwood has a good program and will be alright. If it bothers the kids left on the team, work hard in the off-season, summer, and in practice and beat Grace when you play them. That would be all the talking that needs to be done. After the game congratulate them for playing hard and move on.

As for the transfers this is not a new thing, it happens every year both in public and private schools. It only seems to be problem when it comes to someone moving from a public school to a private school. Until the TSSAA changes the rules there is nothing we can do about it.

Back to Roane County Football. I don't know much but I would like to say, I'm glad to see Panky get his opportunity at Kingston. He should bring a lot of excitment to the fans and players.

  2. You've got to be kidding. How can the number of players increase that quickly? Can your numbers be accurate?

It's two fold, Gaddis has been promoting the progam and not many cared for playing for Blade. Not a knock on Blade, but just the bare truth. Even the ones who stayed out during the Blade years seem to be more excited about the program now.

  3. This thread is another good reason for Oak ridge to hurry on back to 6a ... Without Maryville around to obsess over Bladerunner starts hatin on his own !! Lol ... Btw I saw both players play live , and I have to go with Shawn being a more explosive playmaker , both were 2 of the best high school running backs I've ever seen , and this is why it's not fair to compare the 2 because no matter what , you end up putting down one of the best players ever to play in Tn ... Why would you do that ?

    Good point.

  4. Both were great players. If you want to compare stats I would give Summers the edge. Summers put up all his numbers in three years compared to four for Spencer. And to be fair to Spencer don't forget he shared time with Corey Booker another great player.

Also I don't think you can go by recruiting. Not taking anything away from Summers but in today's times I'm not sure if UT would have taken him. If not be may have went with baseball, he was drafted by the Florida Marlins.

  5. Crowley's...Shawn, Pat, Ennis all brothers. Shawn is one of the top 3 hardest hitters i have ever seen at Oak Ridge. He may have weighed 160, but he packed a whail of a punch. People feared going over the middle when Shawn was back there.

Yeah, he would light you up.

  6. A few more family names... Bradys (3brothers plus their dad, the Pettus' (Kim, Sandy Miquel),the Zulligers, the Minors, the Howards ( Alonzo and Roy), the Matthews' (Chuck and Scott), the Normands. and the PKs Marlars (Grainger and MxKeever. Also, isn't Rain Hall related to someone like Adrian Porter?

Yes they are brothers. Also related to David and Chansen Hall. Cousin Jemiah currently on the team.

  7.

I don't think me or anybody for that matter is the voice of OR football(except Clary). I just love my team, that's about it. I'm far from mr. know it all. I just have a deep love for the program. Just as much as anyone else does. I don't claim to know anything, just love commenting and having good convo with other fans who share the same interest. That's about it. I'm a nobody in terms of the overall program, just a regular guy who happens to be a fan.

Okay, enough with the barbs, I will give you that, you do support OR athletics and that's what all true fans should do.

  8. Haha! As usual you feel you can comment on anything you want, but when someone else does you want them to be quit. May be you should follow your own advice, if you like what i say don't read and don't comment on it. Funny how you think you and a few posters think your the voice of OR football.

I will say this I've seen OR Nole son play and he's a very good athlete and in no way is my post directed at him or any of the other kids. With Gaddis back OR football has a bright future.

  9.

Doesn't bother me either. Just a proud parent, i have heard no gloating. Take a chill pill Extremefury :)

SS, I don't remember asking if it bothered anybody, so maybe you need to chill on telling people what to do. I've heard a lot of good things about a lot of kids and I can promise you that I personally know more of them and their capabilities then you or OR Nole. As far as being a proud parent I can guarantee your not the only one who's kids are being expected to contribute, but you don't see them on her saying my son this my son that.

Catswild, you don't have to worry about him speaking his mind, from what I've heard the Jefferson parents constantly heard it.

  10. From what I've seen, the Kimbro boy is a Gulmire clone, BUT Tee Higgens could be awesome!!!!! Don't mean to knock the young ones, but I'd much rather hear about this upcoming year's varsity players. I didn't get to any of Spring practice.

Amen, there have been a lot of great players at OR since coacht has been around and I don't think I've ever seen one parent who's talked about there kid as much as OR Nole. Dude learn some humility. I know and have seen a lot of those kids play and all have a lot to work on before Nick Saben comes a knocking.

  11. Well i'll be. You're definitely on to something here no doubt.

Just what my young pup tells me. The tease initiates conversation with the hope that someone who knows more detail will fill in the blanks. Supposedly a QB from Coalfield is looking good and the big lineman is from Clinton. Keep hearing the best athletes are no longer just walking the halls.

  12. Yes, well Oak Ridge has always had football guys run on the track team. If anything, i think it helps them , especially with their speed for obvious reasons. Matthew Moore ran a 10.66 100 Meters today which i think is the best in the state so far this year. Malik Hardy is an up and coming Junior for us, he is real fast, too. I thought i'd see Montario Washington out there for you guys. I think it would benefit the Powell football players to run track, but that's just my opinion. I think it's good for speed training.

Montario was a senior, so it wouldn't have benefited Powell football.

  13. What about running back? What offense are we running? Are we scrimmaging anyone?

From what I hear they will be running the spread, with and emphasis on the zone reads and short passing game. This is similar to what he ran at Henry County with the Marsalis Teague.

  14. Cause last years game was closer than score indicated ... but Aloca outplayed Fulton .. but Rankin knows Fulton returns its best players this next year .. you do the math.

Hey I'm not the one who said Alcoa was running scared and if I do do the math, it still shows Alcoa has won the last 4 years and last year score still was 30-7. I don't see Rankin being scared of that.

  15. I tried to listen to the inteview with Ainge, but Ainge wouldn't shut his pie hole. He never even let Joe say anything. He only asked him one or two questions. Spent the other hour and a half talking about himself. What a clown.

    I thought the same thing.

  16. Kwayu Graham resigns as head coach in Lexington NC after 1 season. Just search for Lexington Dispatch. They reported this today. Caught everyone by surprise at the school. This could be good news for Oak Ridge. Kwayu has three sons that play sports. I think the oldest is about to begin high school.

Actually this was reported on April 9, so it's been a while. Don't know whats going on.

  17. Sounds to me like Rankin is running scared. They don't play a very tough schedule anyway with the exception of Maryville. He don't need to be whinning about about not having anybody to play when he has a team 15 minutes away with the same open date. Somebody over at Alcoa needs to talk some sense into him.

I'm no Alcoa fan, but why would Rankin be scared of Fulton, he has beaten them the soundly the last 4 years?
