I find it interesting to note that all 3 teams choked at home. Granted, all 3 teams were playing 5A schools, but these were 5A schools that all 3 were capable of beating.
This just leads me to believe that this will be another year that Maryville will run-away with the region. (Not that it was ever in question that they would.)
Any thoughts?
Ya... Maryville didn't play..

Wheres the love is not an Ooltewah fan. Riverdale's program is head and shoulders above Ooltewah. We know that. Ooltewah isn't trying to compare itself to Riverdale. Ooltewah will be tough this year just like Riverdale. Thats all that needs to be said.
-
Ooltewah held the Cobras to 111 TOTAL yards. How can anyone who didn't see the game talk about about the defense? Holding a team to only 111 yards when you are playing 2-3 stringers the whole 4th quarter on defense isn't bad at all. It was a sloppy game but Ooltewah hasn't been able to practice in full pads about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks this preseason. Ooltewah is going to fine. They have 2 weeks until their next game. Should be a different Ooltewah team.

Ooltewah's Freshman and JV teams will be very good this year. JV team is 2-0 beating Hixson 14-0 and Baylor 14-4. Freshman team is 2-0 run-ruling McCallie 2 times. Best Freshman team to come through Ooltewah in the past 10 years. Should be good for years to come...
-
Haha... I wouldn't consider Central to be in the top 5 in Chattanooga....
-
Its high school baseball. Every team is beatable. I say Ooltewah will win District and Region. Red Bank will be their toughest opponent in my opinion. Ooltewah has some power in the line-up. 5 homeruns today. 3 by Tyler Covington.
-
Gordon Lee is ranked #2 in Georgia
-
Ooltewah doesn't have the talent like they did last year. I don't think any team in the state has that talent this year. Ooltewah will be a good team though. They aren't going to beat teams by 10+ runs every time but I think they will have a 30+ win season.

Game goes either way. Winner wins by a td or less...

i wonder y the Oak Ridgers dont have anything to say?
Ok you can be quiet now. Noo need to rub anything in. Take you win and move on. You beat Oak Ridge 1 time in the last 15+ years. Enjoy it and move on. Bearden will be tough. Good Luck!
-
Was it really worse than Oak Ridge's field? Oak Ridge has the worst 5a football field in the state in my opinion. Grass is 4-5 inches and matted. I think Oak Ridge should re-sod their field before next year.
-
Where are you from bluelion? He was one of the top-rated running backs in East Tennessee this year. 5'10 200.... has speed and power.
-
Didn't Heritage beat Oak Ridge in 2001? Heritage could pull off the upset. Anything can happen in high school football but I doubt it....... Willi, you need to come watch Ooltewah play tonight or next week.

This is my favorite time of the year and because Maryville will soon be 5A IMO, I have followed 5A more closely the past two years. Because you have asked about the Owls and used words like “Can they be stopped” I would like to throw my two cents in on the 5A play-offs in the eastern bracket.
I think Ooltewah will most likely play Bearden in the first round. I expect Ooltewah to beat Bearden or even Science Hill on their home turf and advance to the second round. I also think Sevier Co will beat McMinn and travel to Ooltewah for the second round game. Here is the problem for the owls. Ooltewah has not beaten a quality team save for Oak Ridge this year. Anyone with a half a functioning cranium knows Oak Ridge is no where near the team they were years past. Region 2 in my opinion is the weakest region of the four regions in ETN this year. Sevier Co.’s only two loses came to W. Blount during the first game of the season and last month to DB by a field goal! Trust me losing to W. Blount was a fluke and a rally point for a very well coached team that presently are very high on community emotion. There are a lot of little brothers on this year’s team who watched their big brothers bring home the 5A gold Ball in 1999. Sevier County’s Coach Steve Brewer knows how to get it done and play-off football in nothing like regular season football in many regards. One also might note of all the great 5A programs through years since there were 5 classes the only one that brought the gold ball home to region 1-3, was Sevier Co. I do not think Ooltewah has the horses to get past Sevier or DB this year. Not to mention Riverdale, Smyrna or maybe even Lebanon this year. Ooltewah might be 9-0 but they are 0-0 going into the play-offs and will not face a good team till the second round. Big game experience of the players or in the coaching staff is huge in my opinion, and Ooltewah does not have it. The best thing going for them is they have an opportunity to have home field through out, but they won’t have those home field officials’. Another issue, but an issue non-the-less. The owls have had a great season and have moved up a notch but their equipment turn in date should be scheduled on Monday November the 13th and Blue Cross Bowl tickets are still available.
They may be rated #3 by the fan poll on Coacht, but that is no stable to hang ones hat on and is just silly. But good luck to the Owls.
Have you seen Ooltewah play?

Ooltewah was in the backfield all night. Defense was flying everywhere and hitting people hard. #20 Darrell Turner is one of my favorite players. 6'1 227 starting Defensive end and deep man on Kick off return, he is a beast. One of the fastest players on the team and probably the hardest hitter. Ooltewah had tons of punishing hits on OR all night. Oak Ridge's defense is good. Thats the first time we played a defense like that. Man coverage on everyplay and stacked 8 men in the box. #52 for Oak Ridge is a great linebacker. I hope he does well in college wherever he goes. About DB having a better defense. Oak Ridge did what they wanted to do and drove the ball 65 yards on the first drive to score. After that they only managed only 40 yards throughout the game. That is big. To only hold Oak Ridge to 40 yards total offensive for 45 out of 48 minutes is big. DB must of had a very good defense when you played them because Ooltewah played great after that first drive.

The press? Where is there anything in the news, newspaper or the internet about this? What did you hear and where did you hear it from? Just wondering
-
Why are you McMinn fans talking about ineligiblity? Thats 3 of yall so far.
-
I was told that Ooltewah was under invertigation by the TSSAA for an ineligible player. Anybody else heard anything about this or is it just a bad rumor. I can't imagine that Benny Monore would play a player if this was the case.
Another McMinn fan on here talking about ineligible players... Thats the 3rd one. Whats up? Tell us what you know. Details, Details, Details.
-
Why get on here and talk big talk? You guys were 9-1 and 1st in the region while we were 8-2 and 4th in the region. 2 years ago you beat us on a last second touchdown so please quit running your mouth. I know your coach has respect for Ooltewah!
-
When did Oak Ridge win their last State Championship? Why would Ooltewah be whinning when we are 8-0? I see Oak Ridge fans CRYING on every thread about no coaching, no heart and how young they are. Oak Ridge was ranked preseason #1 in 5a. Ooltewah is 3-2 all-time against Oak Ridge and 1-1 against DB. I think Ooltewah is a growing program who is keeping their athletes from going to private schools like McCallie, Baylor and Boyd Buchanan. Ooltewah has the upmost respect for Oak Ridge so there is no need to get on here and talk down to "us" Ooltewah fans.

Admirals got 80% of their passing yards with the QB evading pressure causing receivers to run all over the place for 6-7 seconds. So many times Ooltewah had the QB in their grasp but just couldn't get him down. Kudos to Farraguts QB. He was Farraguts heart in the offense. I think Monroe is going to work the secondarys tale off these next couple of weeks. If we play DB we will be ready like we have been the past 2 years.
-
Ooltewah beat 3 out of the top 5 teams last year in 5a and are 8-0 but they aren't one of the best 5a teams..... Pepvol why you always hating?
-
Marshall had 185 yards rushing tonight. I thought Ooltewah's front 7 played great other than finishing the play and tackling the QB. I know there were at least 6-7 times we had him in at our fingers and somehow he got away and completed passes. You can't cover someone for 10 seconds. Ooltewah has a lot of work with their passing defense. Ooltewah did get the win and thats all that matters. Good luck to Farragut on the rest of the year. Classy fans, coaches and players except #7 loved to run his mouth. See you in the playoffs, hopefully.

Ooltewah will have to play better against WB inorder to win. Ooltewah did have 394 total yards to McMinn's 189. That was lopsided but McMinn did what they had to do to stay close. Brady was also 16 for 20 with 227 yards passing. Not bad for a young sophmore QB in region play but he will have to minimize his mistakes. O-line looked horrible last night in my opinion. To much pressure on the QB all night. McMinn did what they had to keep the game close. Kudos to them. A win is a win and the Owls have 2 weeks to prepare for Billy Blount. Better work hard guys.
