  1. After last night's upset loss to VanBuren, Coach Agee will have the Tigerettes fired up and looking to take it out on someone. Hermitage Springs may just be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Gordonsville by at least 25.
  2. What it came down to was Gordonsville couldn't hit water if they were standing in a boat. Probably missed 15-20 shots from inside 8 feet. Van Buren came ready to play and Gordonsville didn't.
  3. Watertown and Van Buren County were scheduled to play last night. I can't find any score on CoachT or in the paper. If they didn't play, when will they reschedule?
  4. Gordonsville 56 - Friendship 37. Good defense by GHS held FCS to 21 points after three quarters. Jon Austin led with 20.
  5. Gordonsville 41 - Friendship 37. Gordonsville played well in the first half, especially Jessie Winfree (4 threes). Very sloppy second half let FCS have the lead at 36-32 at one point in the fourth. GHS went on a 9-1 run to win it late.
  6. Gordonsville won by about 5 or 6. I'm not sure of the exact score. Gordonsville led almost the whole game except for maybe a couple of trips down the floor at the beginning of the first quarter. SC was able to pull to within 2 or 3 on a couple of occasions late in the game but was never able to take the lead.
  7. White didn't play tonight because he was at a visitation at the funeral home. Not a problem in my opinion, some things come before basketball.
  8. Congratulations Tigerettes on a well played game. Rachel Gentry came through big tonight with big shots when they counted. The Tigerettes were able to withstand two comeback attempts by CC and maintain their composure to pull out the win. Best ball movement of the season and way to hit the open shot.
  9. Gordonsville will host the SC Owls on Friday. The Tigers will try to sweep the season series. It seems the Carthage boys have been up and down all year. If the Gordonsville boys come out and contain Winkler, they should put up another win.
  10. Gordonsville hosts Smith County on Friday night. Should be another good ball game between these two, with the Tigerettes looking to avenge the loss at Carthage.
  11. Gordonsville and Clay County meet again this week. Clay County won the first game convincingly, but the Gordonsville boys have been playing better in the last couple of weeks. Sounds like CC may come into this game a little angry following the VBC game. Any predictions?
  12. Clay County and Gordonsville meet again this week. Gordonsville won the first game at Celina a couple of weeks ago and Clay County will be looking to avenge that loss. The Gordonsville girls will have to play at the top of their game to sweep the series. I try not to make predictions but does anyone else have any?
  13. Gordonsville wins 71-51. Jessie Winfree lead the Tigerettes with 20.
  14. Two coaches from schools other than RBS or GHS were sitting on the stage very close to where the blocked shot occured. They both said it was clean. I guess it was a foul or it was clean depending on where the person was from who you asked.
  15. Gordonsville wins 53-49. This win makes the Gordonsville girls undefeated so far against district 7A.
  16. So much for the Gordonsville boys not having a chance in this one. Good game Tigers.
  17. Clay County should win this one pretty easily. Monterey is not physical enough to play with CC. By the way, Monterey is not 4-0. They got beat by Gordonsville by 22, and got beat by Bledsoe Co. by 9 (but this game was a hall of fame game so it doesn't count against the record.)
  18. I guess full-court-press doesn't want to give the sweet details tonight. I reckon I'll have to wait for the Herald-Citizen to come out tomorrow.
  19. Gordonsville boys beat Monterrey 67-49. Coach Watson pulled the starters halfway through the third quarter to make it this close.
  20. Go ahead and give the sweet details.
  21. Gordonsville Tigerettes opened the new Gordonsville Gym with a 49-27 win over Monterrey. Now if we can just get a parking lot.
  22. The Owlettes won a wild one 48-41. After falling behind 17-2 at the end of the first quarter, the Tigerettes fought their way back to put the game into overtime. A miracle shot by Kasey Grisham at the buzzer tied the game, but the Owlettes were able to go on a 9-2 run in overtime to win. The Tigerettes showed a lot of heart to get back into the game and the Owlettes showed an incredible amount of resilience to keep it together after Sleeper fouled out. Congratulations and thanks to both teams for an exciting game. I can't wait until the rematch.
  23. Drove by today. What a sad sight. I went by the other day when they were first starting to tear up the floor and quite a few people were getting souvenirs. I got a couple of pieces myself. From what I hear, a couple of the basketball girls took one of the nets and are carrying it to all the games. I know that the old gym meant a lot of things to a lot of people, and in my opinion it could have been refurbished and used for years to come in some form or fashion, i.e. an auditorium for plays, music concerts, etc. I hope that the future generations of Gordonsville students are able to supply as many memories in the new gym as generations past have provided in the old gym. I only wish there would have been an alumni game or a closing ceremony of some sort to close the old gym. It would have been a great way to raise money for the booster club and given a lot a people a chance to step on the floor one last time.
