  1. Ask some of the teams like DB who played Maryville this summer and they will tell you it is no surprise they won the state tournament. Maryville was loaded and will be loaded for some time to come. There were quite a few coaches competing for the job left vacant because they knew about the talent. These guys got little respect. Most of the reporters and prognosticators had no idea because most of them don't really know basketball. I for one underestimated the success of Maryville, but not because I didn't realize they had an arsenal of great players.

Even after winning it all people are still acting like it was a big surprise. They won it all because no one knew how good these guys really were! No one really knew how good Lofton was either and I am sure Tubby won't ever forget it. Watch for these guys to make a major impact in college football and basketball for many years to come. These guys are loaded with talent but even more with (heart).

  2. I agree Bearden wins this one easily. Maryville won't come close this time. Blevins will figure a way out to beat the twin towers and their zone. Their guards don't and won't matter against the more athletic Bearden (Jenkins and Campbell). Look for (Simpson and Jenkins) to show the boys from Maryville how to play BBall and not FBall on the hard court!

Karns will also win easily over the inconsistent Powell. Karns knocked the best team off so why not go all the way...........they will unless Bearden does. Either way they may not like what they have to face next in Greeneville /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Look for Bearden and Karns and Karns to win in the championship game

Agree with Bearden but not Karns. Conners will show why he is the high scorer in the region and they will beat Karns easily. Carson Newman needs to take a good look at Conners to join Cameron . Florida whilc in town needs to take a look at Simpson and Jenkins for their future. Maryville won't beat Bearden again and besides they won't have Humphries or Tipton suiting up.

  3. coach of the year for what? finally getting the right combination of guys after 98% of the season has gone by?

Dodgen deserved it. i believe Farragut was picked to be 5th or worse in the district. and he took them to an almost undefeated district record. even for PrepXtra coach of the year Dodgen should be up there. no one was expecting Farragut to have the record they do. not even close.

Wilson u lost by 14 we lost by 8. and we beat you twice. and we've beat Maryville twice. and we are/were ranked in state. good call on that one though. 2nd is still better than 3rd.

Yeh you are right. Besides I am a Farragut fan. I still think they will go to at least the substate. Dodgen is the man. One of the best coaches of all time Just that Eldridge I think saved his best for last (Reynolds) and that fooled everyone including Dodgen.

Farragut has no weakness. Its difficult to beat a team three times in one season. Maryville with Reynolds is a totally different team.

  4. I believe Farragut plays Powell @ Farragut on Saturday @ 7PM

I was wrong about the outcome Farragut to win by 20 but right about the combination to beat them,

Reynolds and Douglas. And to think they have one more year together with Lambert and Damron. Not sure anyone can match up with that combo. Coach Eldridge deserves coach of the year.

  5. Just want to add a note about the Farragut William Blount game; William Blount played like a bunch of thugs. I thought that it couldn't get any worse than Clinton, but it did. The submarine in the third quarter by a William Blount player to a Farragut player was about the dirtiest play I've seen in a while. Also, the refs did a horrible job officiating the game. You knew that you were in for a bad game when the ref can't throw the tip up right. It took him 3 times to do it.

On to tonight's game...It's really a toss-up. Maryville looked really good against Bearden and Farragut looked really good against William Blount. Lambert is out for Maryville, but I don't know how much that will hurt them. If the bigs for Maryville can stay out of foul trouble, then Maryville has a pretty good chance. I'm not gonna make a pick on this game, but I'll go out on a limb and say that these two teams have a chance of seeing each other one more time in the region championship.

Farragut should win this one easily. If Farragut's coach works the refs the way he ususally does it will be no contest. You can guarentee Maryville will be in foul trouble all night. Since their big shot man Lambert is out it will make it extra hard . Maryvilles one hope may to play those two big guys at the same time Reynolds and Douglas or else Farragut will dominate the boards and win easily. Look for Farragut to play zone and stop all penetration. Predict Farragut by 20

  6. In another thread the discussion came up about Wiggins and who is recruiting him?

I doubt UT has even seen him play let alone any of the other locals? I have heard of at least 4 local D1 signees going elsewhere this year alone. One wonders if UT even looked at any of them, let alone any of the others still out there like Wiggins etc. Tubby get's alot of flack for letting Lofton get away to UT and rightly so. As time goes on, UT will get some of the same I am afraid?

  7. Your post is an embarassment to coachT. Once again, Oglesby is as good as advertised but I would say he was 3 for 15 or so from 3 point range. Stop crying about the officiating and have some class.

Post the foul comparison between the two teams and see who is embarassed

I don't expect anyone to post it :thumb:

  8. Bradley scores 18 total in the first half, is outscored 19 to 5 in the 3rd period and the discussion is officiating. If CNFn stands for Carson Newman Fan, are you from Jefferson County? That may explain your post, as the officials were certainly resposible for the 40 point drubbing earlier in the week that Jeff received.

Just a local fan who appreciates good and fair play. Do you have the stats on foul comparisons between the two teams? That usually tells more than the score which may reflect a team being in "official foul trouble". As a ref , if I wanted to "control a game" , the easiest way would be to call "ONE SIDED FOULS". Now if you were there or have the real stats, then you should know?

  9. After his performance in the Land-Air Classic, and the big win over Bradley Central my guess is everyone will be taking a good look at Wiggins.

UT and Coach Pearl need to look at him and quit their bad history of ignoring local talent in virtually all sports. Carson Newman is always willing to pick up the slack of the unsupportive local "big U". Wiggins is likely too good for Carson Newman or Tusculum, but they are at least worthy of his consideration.

UT has always had the mentality of the "grass in greener on the other side". Case in point Bradshaw versus Humphries. Buzz sealed his fate by ignoring local talent.

Pearl should at least take heed and Wiggins and a few other locals deserve at least "a look".

  10. i think it all relies on todd jenkins. if he plays good(not meaning that he has alot of points) they should win. mo east is a little down this year. it is a pretty even matchup. east always gives all they got on the court but i think cosby will win in a very close game.

East is too inexperienced and undersized to play with the bigger and better Cosby. Cosby is in another zoneand Jenkins may put on another 3 point show!

  11. It is a well known fact that Greeneville officials favor Greeneville. It has been that way forever and doubtful will ever change. The best solution is just not to play in their tournaments unless you want to experience what Bradley Central did. Played with fair officials Bradley Central would win 8 out of 10 against Greeneville. As far as Oglesby goes, he is not warmed up until he shoots at least 5 three's. His game is and always will be the 3's. I am sure they could not stop him from hitting 3's , so the next best was to get the two big guys in foul trouble. Yes Greeneville should be ashamed of their "home cooking". They are actually good enough to win without resorting to it, but as you said "old habits" are hard to break.

  12. East is now 11-0 in the IMAC after Derek Marshall shut out Cherokee 2-0.

Is Marshall still planning on going to Carson Newman next year?

Greeneville beat Jeff County yesterday 3-1

Maybe the biggest upset of the year

  13. the coach of the year should go to chris clapper of creekwood high school he has got all the respect of his players they would run through heck in a gasoline suitt to play baseball for him i know i would

Rines from Morristown East has his club undefeated in IMAC at 11-0 when Jeff was supposed to dominate along with M West

  14. east better be respected look at last years district tournament.

Neglecting to respect East this year may be the downfall of more than a few teams. They are as talented as last year only this time they have a much better coach. I predict Jeff loses unless Story pitches.

  15. Taking up freelance psychology now Waco? Put me down for 4:00pm Friday afternoon, I have some real inner demons I need to get worked out of my system.

Mark it down DB will win the state!

  16. People won't come right now because it is to cold. Plus it doesn't help that March Madness is going on right now and a lot of people have interest in that. But i agree with whoever posted earlier that said WIN

  17. Brentwood won it last year, even though they lost Hartness, they have a deeper 1-4 with two new freshman, Greg Center and Bo Blackshear. They should be 1 or 2.

Morristown East should be good despite the loss of the twins,,,,,,,,,,,,

  18. On unapproved website.com for the all region teams in AAA. Andre Whitehead (expert basketball analyst who has been all across the country to see all different types of talent) says this

    Region 1AAA:

    Omar Wattad-Science Hill (MVP)

    Gabe Buchanon-Sullivan Central

    Deshaud Johnson-Tennessee High

    Jimmy Boone-Greeneville

    Levi Ashworth-Sullivan South

    Dustin Guthrie-Morristown West

    Coti Sensibaugh-Dobyns Bennett

    Antonie Wiggens-Greeneville

    Michael Forney-Science Hill

    Phillip Weatherford-Sullivan Central

    Honorable Mention:

    Deshaud Moore-Greeneville

    Nick Crowder-Science Hill

    Beau Haldren-Sullivan South

    Keith Cradic-Volunteer

    Andrew Winstead-Morristown West

    Chasten Hall-Cherokee

    Blake Moncier-Daniel Boone

    Josef Throp-Dobyns Bennett

    Isaac Snapp-Sullivan East

Wiggins is a better choice in my view. He made all the difference in Greeneville after he joined them. Look at their record before and after and see they were a different team. That is my definition of MVP.

  19. Look, I hope Halls beats Bearden. It's always been my belief that 3 is a stronger district than 4 anyway. There's no doubt in my mind that between Sharp and Segars, they can out score Bearden from the outside. What it comes down to though is this.....is your team ready for the season to be over or not? Now is certainly not the time to blaming each other for anything other than a lack of desire to not win. I think when each player on the team just worries about overcoming his own attitude and play rather than his teammate's short comings, then that's a sign of real maturity. You certainly don't have to make a player feel worse if he has a bad game because he is certainly dealing with that himself. It doesn't help if everyone else is giving him grief too.

Halls needs to put it behind them and move on. Remember, Powell had to do that too when you guys beat them.

Good Luck against Bearden. Anything can happen. And I certainly hope that Powell gets to see Maryville again :thumb:

Agree with you 3AAA may be stronger than 4AAA and may expect a sweep of the region except for Bearden and Tony White.

  20. lol Greeneville beat them by 15 + last year..sullivan south has no one who can stop wiggins or moore...and there defense is to good..the fact is Sullivan South is to slow to play with Greeneville, but good one...after they beat them they WILL beat SH then Central can get'm sum...SULLIVAN CENTRAL IS OOOOVVVEEEERRRAAATTTEEEDDD!!!

Sullivan Central overrated? And Sullivan South too slow? Wait until you get out the region at least before you start bashing your opponents. But that seems to be par for the course with you.............................................. Even Michael Jordan didn't dare trash his opponents before or after a game. But then I suppose you are higher and better than the great MJ?
