  1. Young man maybe some sensitivity training is called for (I said I wouldn't get on a soapbox). I was the one who said that I heard that thing referred to as "the coon" because that is what happened. My family and I were some of the first people in the stands due to the fact that my sister's friend lives across the street from the stadium (as a matter of fact this same friend was called a "b" by one of the girls in your group because she was asked to sit down and not block people's view) any way back to the coon. I was standing right there when you came in with it and another kid came in with a hobbie horse, a young lady with a camera had you guys gather for some pictures and someone said-maybe it was you maybe not- "Get the coon, make sure you get the coon..." it was after then that I walk over to the visitor stands. If you don't think that this sort of thing is racist and offensive it may be that you realm of history is short sighted due to your age or maybe still in the morning ask Mike Kelley what his grandfather thinks of your coon. I hope that this is the last that we see of it or speak of it. My best wishes to the Maryville football team (Rebels still gets stuck in my throat) game well played.

I do not recall that, and in no way will this be the last we see of Young Roc.

  2. I was at the game too and IMO the students should have never been on the field in the first place . At our field the officers and AD and Principal all make sure of it . The holding of a raccoon up was a racial slur , you know and everyone on here knows it , so don't even try to justify it . It's a sad day when you see probably one of the best high school football games ever ruined by things like that . Congrats to both teams on a great game .

If teh games is ruined by our darn raccoon dont come. Im the one that brought it in. We never refered to it as "The Coon", as someone else claimed. His name is Young Roc, thats all we ever call it. We dont mean anything racial by it. We found him in a parking lot for christsake. Its a homemade taxidermy, stuffed with sawdust, missing two legs. Do you think we drove around for four hours one night thinking, "Gosh, we really need to find us a coon so we can send a message to them alcoans. Lets make it a racial slur!" ? No. Its innocent fun. Were 17 years old. As for my parading it in front of alcoas student section, thats called celebration. 6 years straight. So can you just let kids have fun and not accuse us of being racist all the time? We never meant anything by the flag, and we dont mean anything by the coon. Alcoa, WB, and Heritage all have waaaaaay more race problems than we do, yet were teh ones that wlays take the blame.

  3. Thats it?......

Hey I think I saw a blind squirrel walking around over there :(

Thanks Black Messiah.....your comments made it even better

Way to Go Kandice and all the girls at Central!!!!!!!

Go ahead, relish in your meaningless scrimmage victory. Well take our win when it matters

  4. OK... Once agin, according to the rules of the site which can be read by clicking on the "board rules" link on top of this page, rule number 2 states:

"Be Nice: No posting of material that antagonizes, harasses, or creates hostility toward another user or group of users."

All of your threads about this hurt player put blame on another team, which then puts blame back to you which is antagonistic on both parts. Tell me, what is the point of your thread? You have informed us that a player got hurt. It might or might not have been a foul, purposeful, what have you. Telling another team to "quit crying!", or pointing fingers, or saying "what goes around comes around" is material that antagonizes, harasses, and creates hostility.

What you might think as a reasonable excuse is probably not what I think. Unfortunately for you, I have to go on what I deem is appropriate. If I err on the side of caution or conservativism, than so be it. There are other sports forums. I am not on any of those, so feel free to post how you want on the other forums.

    Thats a very liberal attitude...

  5. I agree. Though I wouldn't mind seeing a few of the real Maryville players get on and clear their name.

I am not a player, just a die-hard fan. And they will clear their name on the field.

  6. I hear the score was 3-0 Central....and the Central pitcher (Irwin) ripped a 2 run homer.....Oh, and she pitched a 2-hitter to boot!

Rough day for the lady rebs...even though we obviously did not give a full effort so we dont wear ourselves out for the real season.

  7. Weak, is that why Unaka and University High go out and beat a lot of AA and AAA schools despite there small enrollment. I believe University High has 250 in there high school and Unaka has just a little more than that. Is that a weak conference?

    their

Id like to see them take on Maryville...well make you look weak!

  8. do you like maryville. 2f9d. ok who has the best restroom facilities. oooooo MARYVILLE..................................

I am a huge maryville fan...and are you talkin trash about our bathrooms?!!? This doesnt look like the restroom board to me! Looks like someone knows they cant compete on the level that really matters, so they take cheap shots at our restrooms...youre a real class act...

  9. No one can touch Maryville's Evita routine! They really get the crowd fired up and intot he game by playing such current hits as Bon Jovi's "You Give Love A Bad Name" and "Evil Ways" by Santana. Not to mention our famous "Maryville Drinking Song". I think Mr. D has this band primed for a run at the state title next year!

  10. Maryville one of best teams in the east. You cant be serious.

Completely. Maryville doesnt rebuild...we reload! With Hector Gomez, Ryan Mclenegan, Luke West, Steven Massero, and Jared Ziegler provisind senior leadershipt this team will be tough to beat! Ridge Carter and David Large will continue to improve on last years stellar fresham seasons. Plus the new addition of our mexican Raul, I dare anyone to challenge us for the state title!

  11. sorry if i came across in a negative way toward you. i just want the negative things being said about this kid to go away.

Who are the top 5 teams in the state this year?

    5. Maryville

    4. Maryville

    3. Maryville

    2. Maryville

    1. Maryville

Brooke Melton will lead the Lady Rebs to and undefeated state championship...just watch!
