Chad Smith at South Doyle has done a very good job last year and thus far this season. His kids are not the most talented athletically but his team plays hard and seem to be well coached.

McMinn should try and lure Ron Baker back to bring them back up to snuff. He is a pretty good coach and would be the one to revive their program.

I would have to agree on the Picket Co. State Title Parade. Picket has been loaded in times past. I also agree that Buck's coaching at Crossville has been a big challenge. He seems to know the game and works hard at it. I am not sure if he can be really successful over the long haul at Crossville. Not enough great athletes over time to sustain a top-notch program.

Lockard at Clinton, Chad Smith at South Doyle is a real student of the game and he gets alot out of his kids. Chad is a solid young coach with a great future. The new guy at Mt. Juliet is a pretty good coach also.

I saw Stephen Kite's son at Tech's team camp. He is playing with South Doyle and he looked pretty good for a freshman starting on the Varsity Squad. Under Coach Smith at SD he should have a great career.

Butch Chaffin would be the best man for the job. I would not blame him for not considering it after the way he was treated the first time around. In my opinion Butch is one of the better baseball minds in this area. He would be a tremendous asset to the Cookeville program.

Rumor has it he has already accepted and will be coaching in Georgia next year.
