1. Hey does anyone no anything about the Blackman and Wilson Central scrimmage on Friday. I heard something about Wilson Central not playing because of the heat or something? Is there any truth to that cause I was wanting to see one game before I left. So can anyone help me out here?

  2. Very true. It helps to give you an estimate of where you stand. Are they playing independence or playing a different team at independence. Because that doesn't seem like a tough game.

    I have no idea? sorry?

  3. Siegel's preseason is tough.

    08/09 at Father Ryan (0-0-0) 6:00 PM

    08/14 BGA (0-0-0) 7:00 PM

    08/16 % at Independence (0-0-0) 6:30 PM

    08/21 at Centennial (0-0-0) 7:00 PM

Bga is the only one I believe they may lose, but depends on how subs are used through the preseason, then its any ones guess.

I am not sure that wins in losses in preseason games mean anything. Preseason is a time to experiment with players, try new things, and get into game shape. I mean I realize that getting the wins are nice but in the long run a preseason result means nothing. Just a thought.

  4. Better than the last two years and thanks for asking. Good luck and best wishes as you head off to college. Check in from time to time and stay in touch. Maybe you can make it back for the girl's state tournament and we can hook up again.

yeah definatly. I really hope so. I enjoyed talking soccer with other knowledgable people from 7aaa.

    good luck this year

  5. I seem to recall after bowing out to McMinn in the sectionals your sophomore year a standing ovation from all of the Cookeville players and parents for your valiant effort in goal in that match. Harsh treatment? Yeah, there was a disconnect regarding club soccer; your teammates didn't understand why you traveled to play on a Nashville team that really wasn't any better than the team in Cookeville. The harsh treatment didn't start until after you said, "Well, I'm just going to take a year off from soccer," and then subsequently enrolled at another school in the district. You put the Cookeville team in a bind, and your actions affected every player on the team. And that's why people are upset.

Regarding Jerry Falwell, I wasn't making fun of him. By saying "Falwell Compound," I was merely referring to the lore regarding the fence that encloses all of Liberty University from the outside world. But I would hesitate to call Falwell an "amazing man" when he has said things like this:

"AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals, it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals."

I'm done. Sorry for hijacking the thread.

ok, that standing ovation was because everyone knew that I was going to move that summer. The only reason I did not was because we could not sell our house.

TUSC offered better coaching and Goalkeeper training (The lipscomb assistant coach)

I decided not to play for Cookeville for reasons of which only me my family and a few teammates at Blackman know. I chose to disclose my reason for quiting out of respect for certain people, But no one seems to know that.

Lets be serious did you really think that I wasn't going to play soccer for a year? No one asked me why I quit not even the coach or the assistant, (wonder who that is) and that was reason enough to leave. It's like one of my friends said, God meant for you to be in the boro." Thats all there is to it. but I do take everyone's anger as a complement.

As for Falwell, I think its awesome that he came out and took a stance against things like that.

I to apologize for going off topic.

    GO BLAZE

  6. Paul, I'm pretty sure that the commentary regarding Cookeville's loss to Riverdale is innocuous.

What's upsetting people is that you are saying it. You may not believe it, but there's still quite a bit of acrimony in Cookeville related to your spineless defection. It's not something people are going to forget, and when you continue to run your mouth, you are just adding more and more fuel to the fire. Allegiances are strong here, and in the Cookeville athletic community, your name is not a respected one.

So please, go to the Falwell Compound and have a successful collegiate career, visit and post on the message boards all you want, but don't talk about Cookeville anymore. You generally offend a great number of people when you do.

Hey, I can say whatever I want to about Cookeville, you sure seem to have plenty to say about me and my teammates at Blackman even after we wopped up on you twice this year. So, why can't I comment on ONE game in which I did not agree with certain desicions made in a game? everyone else does. I guess the truth just really stinks.

It still amazing to me that people are still mad that I moved. Who cares? Get over it! I have moved on and you guys should to.

God blessed me with a great senior year and an awesome opportunity in college so please to not mock the largest evangelical christian school in the world. Mr. Falwell was an amazing man and will forever be remembered and your comments are not approriate.

I have forgiven the Cookeville faithful for their harsh treatment of me. So why can't you move on? I will continue to pray for you.

  7. So Cookeville should have packed 6 in the box after going up 3-0 in the 17th minute?

I would imagine that the Lady Cavs are thanking you for your incendiary words. Locker room material? Sometimes it's good when one doesn't know when to quit

That is exactly what they should have done. You take your best player who signed with UT and put her at sweeper with 3 or 4 other defenders, and just look to counter attack, instead of staying with three in the back while becca and company pick you apart for four goals in a half and end your season. But your right that type of logical thinking is just dumb.

And why would that be locker room material it was a year ago when the game was played. Who really cares? Get over it. Good luck this season.

  8. Not that it matters, but Becca did have a hand in 3 of the 4 goals. She set up both of Soria's, Kirstin scored on a rebound off of a shot by Becca, but Hannahs game winner was all Hannah. Riverdale easily beat Cookeville in the regular season and never should have been down 3 goals. Cheryl struggled in the first half and usually stops shots that got by her that night. I also agree with the post about schedule weakness, but this year should be better with Franklin, Hendersonville, Soddy Daisy, Tullahoma and Shelbyville. Doesn't seem to be much love for the Lady Warriors on this site, not sure why unless everyone is a Siegel booster, but thats why we play the games. Should be an exciting season. Good luck to all the girls.

No love? What? everyone is picking Riverdale to be in the top two.

Oh and I am a blackman fan but I am trying to be objective here

  9. You may outscore Riverdale but shutting them out is unlikely. They return all their players except the backup goalie this year. Stopping Becca will be a huge task for any team, but Riverdale has other scorers also. Dont forget when Riverdale was down 3-0 to Cookeville in the playoffs and came back to win 4-3, Becca did not score any of those goals, in fact they were all scored by FRESHMAN. If Riverdale is to give Siegel a run, it will be this year. JMHO

That was actually one of the few girls soccer games that I went to last year (due to club practices) and though Becca did not score the goals, she pretty much did all the work to get them.

Plus Riverdale had no buisness getting back into that game, if cookeville would have been smart then they would not have given up four goals. They just kept attaking and Riverdale counter attaked four times and that was it.

I just dont see anyone hanging with Siegel this year. The race is for the 2nd spot.

  10. its funny all the big match-ups in 7-AAA are done the last week

but in 8-AAA we are finished like 2 weeks before the district tournament starts

I think Blackman vs. Riverdale will be a big game in district 7aaa also. I am saying that the winner will come in 2nd place.

  11. Siegel 4 Riverdale 0

I think with it being Siegel's senior night and their rivalry with Riverdale that they will come out strong and stay that way for the game.

Even though its senior night I just do not think that Riverdale will give up four goals and I think Becca will get one.

Plus I think Riverdale will be just as fired up as Siegel. Not to mention that senior night stuff can often be distracting.

but anyway in the end its the same result

  12. How do you guys think the three biggest rivalries in this district will play out?

    Siegel v. Riverdale

    Siegel v. Cookeville

    Cookeville v. Riverdale

    Siegel 3 Riverdale 1

    siegel 4 Cookeville 0

    Riverdale 3 Cookeville 2

I really think Blackman will suprise some people this year. They are really young but seem to have some good talent.

  13. I heard from someone that it came out last week!!! Is that true?

the coaches one (TSCA?) is done. not sure if it has been posted anywhere yet. This is what I heard from my coach anyway.

  14. Paul Gilbert should have been first team goal keeper as well. He posted 14 shoutouts and ony two teams scored more than two goals, Father Ryan (3), and BGA (2, which were Pk's). Blackman 's defense was very good, and their top defender was recognize, well deserved, but Paul made some great saves as well. 2nd team is an honor, but 1st is what was deserved.

Job well done by all. Didn't know Alexander was going Pro, when did that happen. Tough to let college ball go to pot, good luck, that is totally awesome.

Thank you for the compliment Soccerontherise. I admit I was a little disappointed that I did not receive 1st team honors, but I am still honored to have been selected to 2nd team.

God has truely blessed me and rewarded me with a great year, because after all I play for his glory and not my own.

I was blessed to play with a great group of guys this year and I am so happy my friend and teammate Matt Reed made first team along with one of my closest friends Kun Chamjock. They both deserved it.

  15. QUOTE(jonnyray @ Jun 4 2007 - 10:31 PM) 826471437I have a son that will be home all summer. He would like to get out and practice and play soccer. He has one camp, but are ther other camps or open field he could come to play. He is 12 and turning 13. He has 3 years experience and I would just like to get him some field time. Any Suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Jon

in what area of tennessee do you live?

  16. QUOTE(Whitey @ May 26 2007 - 10:22 PM) 826467842Me and coachofthree were there. Sat with the Wall and his mom and had a great time. Saw everything today. Cograts to all who made it to the championships and especially the winners.

I enjoyed sitting and talking soccer with you whitey and coachof3. Good luck to your teams in the future. Ill make sure to check in on the T next year.

  17. i have enjoyed watching both teams play and they both deserve to be in the championship game, but i am going to take bearden 3-2 in OT.

the bearden fans are awesome! it is wonderful to see that many students/allumni making the trip to support their team with the passion that they do

  18. It's a big deal for Cookeville because Paul was our goalie at the end of last year. Then he transferred to Blackman because he "wasn't getting the respect he deserved." He isn't really a team player. Some of the moms were talking and said Blackman doesn't like him very much either. It was such a huge deal to us because he thought he was better than we were and moved but we ended up beating him anyway. His mom is just a nuts as he is about soccer. Some people just shouldn't reproduce...

Does that answer your question? You've probably never been put in this situation before so it might be hard to understand. I'm not trying to belittle you..you just have to be part of Cookeville to understand. We had a traitor in our midst and totally kicked his butt.

if i wasn't any good then why are you so upset that i left?

  19. Attention Blackman Fans:

This is not how the end of the game went. The goalkeepers mother was upset her son choked and lost the game for them, so he will probably have to transfer again to another school just like how he left cookeville, guess we didnt need him. Anyways, She decided to take it out on someone else so the blame would not be put on her "perfect" son who is being scouted by teams across the nation....HA! No cookeville parent grabbed her at all, and the SRO officer never flashed his gun. The player asked who the f*** are you and he showed his badge which was under his jacket on his belt next to his gun. Quit blowing that out of proportion.

People have to understand that taunting is just part of the game. No profanities were said to any Blackman player. Don't get me wrong, players on both teams did use a few choice words, however, there was not a single player for cookeville who said anything bad to any of the blackman fans. #10 for blackman decided he wanted to run his mouth to someone who had him outsized three times. Players and fans need to realize every sport has fans yelling and screaming. How do they think it sounds on a football field with THOUSANDS of fans yelling at them? This was a slightly smaller group. Get over it. We will continue to cheer at the remainder of the games and we will continue to taunt the other players. And yes i was one of the few who stayed down by the goal in which blackman's goalie was in. We were looking forward to that game for a long time and we knew we had to welcome paul back in a way we thought was fit. There is nothing in the rule book about taunting as long as names and profanities are not used. Which is exactly how we were.

And as for #10 for blackman....I've lost games before and i have never done anything like you have done, and trust me i've been taunted as i walked on the field and off but i never let it get to me. Use it as something to make you play better and try and prove us wrong. Make it to where we have nothing to taunt you about. Don't give us the bird and call someone out like you want to fight. Cookeville has class and we have our school spirit too. I've yet to see one of our players act as your's did tuesday night.

Go Cavs!!! We're Behind You All The Way

    TEK 9 HOOLIGANS

p.s. To the blackman dad who called us soccer wanna-bes....you're exactly right, we would have lost that game if we had players like us out there. Thats why we stick with what we do best.....BEING HOOLIGANS!!!

your ignorance is halarious. You might think that you got in paul's head, but the truth is, that he had no idea who you were, so why dont you let it go. Your just a bitter student. Thats all. If you knew anything at all about soccer then we(blackman) might listen to what you have to say. But since your just a hooligan your opinion means nothing to us.

oh and I am sure you have lost games before, but you probably never got on the field/court so you wouldn't know what it feels like to play your heart out and come up short.

  20. My thoughts on the game:

    1. I'll never figure out how you can start the season on one roster and end up on another team.

    2. Paul played a good game and he handled himself with class(by the way even though you have had harsh words for your ex coach he has always had positive things to say about you to me)

    3. I wouldn't have held up so good under such critisism as the keeper faced.

    4. The blackman parents and cookeville parents supported there teams as they should.

    5. Number 10's actions were unexcusable.

    6. Bill Vice-Grant Kelly are class acts

Most importantly both teams gave me a great game to watch and one I told my students about today-that is what is all about.

    Just my view.

Thanks for the kind words about us. It was a great game. I wish the outcome was differant but that is the way it goes sometimes. I now you think that #10 actions were unexcusable, but he was not doing it just for himself, he was doing it for the rest of us who could not do anything because Cookeville's principal, Wayne Shanks, was taking pictures of the goalkeeper trying to catch him making gestures to to the Cookeville fans.

  21. just wanted to hear what people thought about the game.

I thought it was great game.

I also wanted to clear up the situation after the game. The goalkeepers mother was going on to the field after the game when a cookeville parent crabbed her by th shoulders and start telling her what a bad team Blackman was. It was then when she pushed the parent to defend herself. Then the women who grabbed her husband came in and crabbed her to. At this point a dad from the team stept in to defend the Blackman parent. This inccident was started by a Cookeville mom not a Blackman parent.

just wanted to set the record strait.

  22. hey i am going on by what i was told

it should be tullahoma and shelbyville

ok thats cool. I was not trying to undermine you or anything. I have a lot of respect for all that you do with High school soccer. I think it is really cool that you take the time to throughly study teams around the state.
