  1. nooooo.... steroids bad! surely the wrestlers' parents would not fund it, and if not, how would they find the means? i know it is tough for many parents to pay for warmups and travel costs.... and an investment like steroids is a life threatening one

Boys, if you want holes in your heart go ahead.

And Hussein and Reveiz look pretty tough. If Justin Knox was still in hs, my vote would go to him hands down.

Reveiz, he holds a few wgt lifting records at the school.

  2. Rigger,

I am through with you. I've been coaching for three years now and have matured during each of them. Obviously not enough, because I'll be the first to say that an intense personality or a hair trigger does not excuse me or anyone else from doing anything unprofesional or acting in that manner. In retrospect, I did and I was. I apologize for that. Being a teacher and a coach makes me a public figure (whether I like it or not), and I am to do my best to act professional at all times. ..much like a doctor. That night, at that moment, I had a knee jerk reaction and did not.

    To the new Gentle Ben

A simple, I was wrong would have done!

Your giving back to your sport so you can't be all bad. B)

I am replying to verbal attack on my character from a faceless screen name. Not your Chacter just a mistake.

Why would I want to whip you? That was a joke. Adults don't fight.

Thanks God or there would be wars. ;) They discuss. But, I cheated off of my neighbor in the Adult Living class in college to get that answer. Shame! ;)

Ben, I don't think you would have handled me saying something to you during the incident. I was ready to come down there because of what I saw. If Joe would have done it to Dr. M I would have said something to him. I thought you were an out of control fan so I called it as I saw it.

Not attacking U because I don't know U. As U said U were wrong. Enough said.

    I replied to this.

    my 2 cents:

i had the honor of being in the midst of bear haters this past weekend. it was comical to here and watch the behavior of adults and kids from various areas around the state. every match a bradley kid was in he was stalling, head slapping, cocky, and he should have lost his last match anyway! i understand the "root for the underdog" thing going on but this was taken to another level, almost like anybody but these guys win. i enjoyed every single match. this sport is incredible.

the guy with a collierville firefighter shirt on was a complete jackass, he and his crew decided in an overtime match to get up and talk to a group 3-4 rows behind them. an old man 150lbs soaking wet said" hey buddy set down or move i'm trying to watch the match, the big bad fireman was ready to fight now, he had his big bluto fist ready, chest out, and then had some big boy words. i've got my little girl with me so i said grow up, set down, and try to be alittle more respectful of others behind you and there would be conflicts. needless to say he was a complete jackass the rest of the tournament. the funny thing was he had a big ol' gray mullet.

congratulations to soddy and to all the other area teams that did well.

i guess we'll do it again, all 6 of those bears will be back next year!

Wow, I saw the same thing happen when Ian Merrideth father ask some Bradley folks to move when he was watching his son against Reveiz. In that case the young bear wouldn't let it go. Just kept on mouthing off to Doctor Merrideth.

Wow, bad mouthing a guys dad trying to watch his son. He really made folks love the Bears that night.

We all have jerks who only care about their group

    .

Could luck and safe travels to Nashville. I will be in Nashville this weekend so be nice on the roads.

    For Wrestler5555:

Someone had to step up and take IrishDads place. Also, poor Sommers needed a break. ;)

Looks like some folks like to throw stones but when someone calls them on it, then it's he's a basher/hater of our program.

    Get over yourself.

Like I pointed out on another thread. There have been other programs that were at the top of TN wrestling that are trying to rebuild now. (East Ridge, Overton etc)

I'm not out to attack anyone’s program or wrestler but if some posters are sitting on the high and mighty and saying, "everyone hates me, nobody loves me" blah, blah, blah.

We have folks reading into a one-sentence post and making it into a four page Soap Opera!

I tried to give some other programs and young men some credit in defeating one of the best programs in the State.

Yep, that makes me both a Bradley and SD hater. Two schools that I enjoy visiting and wresttling against since 1997.

Was my son’s school mentioned as one of the key matches?

    NO!!!

I just state what others in the wrestling community are saying. I'm sorry that you cannot handle someone having the BBs to say it on CoachT.

I will not post on this topic again because I've not taken the Stink bait thrown my way by some of the other posters and not took a bite.

When U have a man like Tex defending me U know that the others are way off base.

You better concentrate on Bradley Co issues because the some one is using a blender on the pot on other topics just in time for CoachT to close it down for the season. The last post most of us are going to see before next season or shots at the Bradley program and saying they are recruiting folks away.

    Not good.

IMO-It's probably a parent thing but the rest of TN wrestling family may be wondering if where there's smoke, there may be fire.

  3. MasterBlaster/Rigger101/Whom It May Concern,

I am the "young bear" that you referred to, Ben Smith. And let me first say this, I apologize furthermore to anyone who may have seen the "incident", whether they be from ND or BC...not too many people were there. Just the man trying to watch his son his last time at State. Also Ben, Dr M usually has his son that has a disability with him so it's not so easy to get up and move like kxdude posted

I'll be the first to say that an intense personality or a hair trigger does not excuse me or anyone else from doing anything unprofesional or acting in that manner.

It wasn't the hair trigger but the continued verbal attack that got me.

In retrospect, I did and I was. I apologize for that. Being a teacher and a coach makes me a public figure (whether I like it or not), and I am to do my best to act professional at all times. ..much like a doctor. That night, at that moment, I had a knee jerk reaction and did not.

Now, let me explain my side of the story...since every story does have two sides and I'm sure that you were honestly and wholeheartedly going to look at it and tell it from my perspective too, Rigger. I was unaware that Dr. Merridith had already asked our fans to move. I was oblivious to fact that Dr. Merridith's son was wrestling and that I was in his way. I was more concerned with getting my guys and stuff together and getting them home and into bed. As I stated some " We all have jerks who only care about their group." Bottom line is you did not put your self in his shoes. It's called muturing as you grow.

Not liking Bradley is one thing, name calling ("jerk") is another. I have no problem with Bradley. Just respect! Some of their poster are another story. I know how to seperate the two, do U!

    Tell Joe I said, Hello!

P.S.S. That incident occured Thursday night and I believe that Ian was wrestling Aaron Birman from Cookeville on Mat 3, not Reviez. So, if you were honestly there nearby, I'm sure that you would have known that. Quit trying to stir the pot Rigger. It gets old. Just replying to what a Bradley fan accused others of doing. Read all the post first youn Ben

You are correct about the Thursday Night match.

I'm the one who screamed sit down when you continued to go at Dr Meredith.

I even went down their and told GM I had his back.

    Therefore, I was there.

I glad to see you have enough class to apologize.

I'm sure with the way tourneys are set up you will be in the same situation one day with a young one and will be just as frustrated as Dr. M was when he kindly ask folks to move and they or their group continues to block the way.

I stand on my on and don't need our young coach to vouch for me. The word Jerk applied to everyone in general and if you think it applied to you.

    So be it.

Not in the mood to drive to Bradley but your welcome to say Howdy next year when I'm there or at another tourney. Maybe you can scream at another older gentleman, or whip me your choice ;)

Sorry for the bad typing , have to get to the bank.

  4. My reason for asking is because, with TSSAA's approval, we have had wrestlers from school B wrestling with our team for approx. 4 yrs now. We have kids in our AAU program that are from school C and D in the county, that want to wrestle in HS, but there is no HS wrestling program at theirs. I have recently posed this question to RC and have received very vague responses back.

Simply put, can athletes from schools B, C, & D, all wrestle at school A at the same time, if they are in the same county and their "home" school doesn't offer it to them?

you might be dangerous with a whole county to work with.

  5. NO BIG DEAL! MasterBlaster relax and quit trying to make an issue out of everything, Go outside enjoy the sunshine, smell the air and Thank God for all you have been blessed with! Have a Good Day!!

    Amen!

I just followed what jackass was saying about another teams fan.

You're right "Intensity of the sport as a Parent may make you react poorly some times, but I think for the most part we are all pretty good people."

I was to the right of Dr M and the majority were young folks just tlaking and not thinking aout the other folks trying to watch. It happens.

I wasn't close enough to hear the apology. I don't know if one was due.

However the Merrideth family is a class act and most folks know that.

It is tuff when a entire section gets up to leave but thats the sport.

  6. my 2 cents:

  7. I highly doubt that Reveiz would beat Coffey! Reveiz may be a beast but so is Coffey. This should leave the rest of the match to technique and I know for a fact that Coffey would win in that category (and trust be by no means am I a Pope John Paul II fan in any sports). Also, MasterBlaster, I respect the fact that the past two Farragut state champs (Knox and Reveiz) worked their bodies off hard and were extremely disciplined in that aspect of wrestling but when is Farragut going to get a state champ that is not phisically a total beast but is just a great fundamentally sound wrestler.

FRom all the post I've seen it looks like about a 50/50 split on who would win and since no body from the Coffee Camp will answer if he's going to nationals the point is mute. I'm sure we couls arange a work out at a nutraul site.

On the "just a great fundamentally sound wrestler" you would have to tell me how you define that. In our 6 years at Farragut we have had-

    Joe Knox Coached

Wrestling 2006 Division I 215 Weight Class Champion Nick Reveiz

Wrestling 2005 Division I 171 Weight Class Champion Justin Knox

*** I thought Justin Knox was very fundemental but was a beast at the same time.

Wrestling 2005 Division I 215 Weight Class Champion Nick Reveiz

Wrestling 2004 Division I 140 Weight Class Champion Scott Dix

*** Dix didn't use muscel, he won on technique.

Wrestling 2004 Division I 152 Weight Class Finalist Chad Turner

***Very phyiscal, great double leg and good on his feet.

Wrestling 2004 Division I 171 Weight Class Finalist Justin Knox

    Richie Houston

Wrestling 2002 Division I 125 Weight Class Champion Eric Faris

    ***Very fundamentally sound wrestler***

Wrestling 2001 Division I 215 Weight Class Champion Eric Watkins

    *** Fundamental Beast*** :thumb:

Dual Wrestling 2000 Division I Team Fifth Place

Our kids have all ways been good on their feet. Leg's isn't our deal.

I've been told Coach Knox was good on his feet so I guess you teach what you know. Also, the Webb kids can tell you he runs a very phyiscal practice.

  8. walkenvol,

Is it not true that Cody Cleveland and all of the McCallie & Baylor wrestlers get a 100% paid wrestling scholarship plus an additional $800.00 per month spending allowance & demo car to drive? Has Baylor not hired the former East German sports scientist to give their athletes a "MAGIC PILL" that makes them get stronger & quicker without going into the weightroom?

Really, does that pill also make you younger. If so sign me up. I didn't know there was an E Germany any more. I thought when the wall came down that E germany went away. I better Call my German friends and let them know the Cold War is still on. ;)

Steve, the ante has been uped. All that was mentioned before + a field of corn and some taters too!!!!!! We'll throw in a piece of cardboard for them holes in the windows of your new, well almost new, doublewide. I think I left out the part about the holes in the windows. Sorry, I got mad at one of my wrestlers at practice the other day and had to vent. I'll put the cardboard over the hole for ya! How about it Steve?

Brickhousechick, I know you all can't beat that!

So would that make you the waterboy? :thumb:

  9. Perfect, but tough, repeat

FHS wrestler Nick Reveiz ends season 35-0, career with 61-match win streak, back-to-back state titles

CHATTANOOGA — Nick Reveiz’s stature as one of Tennessee’s top high school wrestlers in recent years perhaps grew a notch or two Saturday.

But in the process of solidifying his reputation — earning his second consecutive TSSAA Division I state title in the 215-pound weight class Feb. 18 — the 17-year-old Farragut High School senior said he’s grown a notch or two as a person.

“These last couple of months have probably been some of the toughest of my life,” said Reveiz, who finished a perfect 35-0 on the season with a 61-match winning streak to end his TSSAA career (115-10 career record in three seasons). “Rising to the occasion has made me who I am today. I think it’s a life-changing experience for me.

  10. When you say that he gave the "cut signal" are you referring to showing an optional start? An optional start does not necessarily mean you are going to "cut" the man or give him an escape.

That wasn't my post but from the top sections it looked like like he gave the signal but he said he didn't so I guess we can't arguee with that. It was a good match.

  11. I don't want to butt in on anyone's fight BUT ............

At the start of the third Lettner shows the ref the cut signal and places his hands on Reviez's back in the same matter. Once Reviez moves Lettner does make a grap for Reviez. 3-2

    Everything else was upper body.

I have not looked at this post for a few days because I was tired of some of the bull. So I will reply back to some. And BTW-Thanks TEX!

Young Mr. Letner, I apologize for anything that you might have thought I was saying about you.

I actually enjoy watching you wrestle, unless it's against Reviez. I'm not the only one on CoachT that thought you showed the Cut signal. Maybe you were asking your coaches should you cut? You know for sure so I trust what you posted.

Any way the discussion in the stands was why would you cut Nick since he is good on his feet.

Your Coaches had an opportunity to see Nick Wrestle at least 3 times this year and your coaches did win the traditional state so I know they had you doing the things that would give you the best chance to beat Nick.

I know your both great wrestlers and I watched both of you dominate other wrestlers. Of course I wanted to see both of you go after each other. Instead, it was a very cautious match.

Congrats, you deserve to be in that finals match.

BTW- great write up in the Chatt press on you helping SD staying the race for the Championship

I will enjoy watching you as a senior unless it's against one of our young grapplers and you should be favored at either weight.

  12. Not really, MasterBlaster. In D-II, Baylor, McCallie, Ryan, MBA, Christian Brothers, and now even BA are always competitive against eachother. It is even more less competitive in D-I when Soddy and Bradley Central are always winning those titles in D-I

See my last post. WE have 4 big Dogs in the state and a few trying to knock them off the porch. All the Schools (Baylor, McCallie, Ryan, MBA, Christian Brothers, and now even BA) have prduced great Champions but only 3 have produced TEAM Champions.

In the public schools over the last 12 years it's been Cleveland, Overton, Clarksville, Bradley and SD.

  13. We D2 people would be happy to wrestle and play football in D1 but you won't let us. Did you forget? D1 kicked us out. We would love more games and matches for one true state championship. We are always looking for competition.

  14. Answer the question: How many state championships did Bradley win before the D1 & D2 split?

You are correct that Baylor probably would not have one as many state championships if we had no split. But heck we can't even get Bradley to wrestle the big D2 schools in a dual or big time tournament like McCallie or Father Ryan. They remind me of Brandon, FL and Coach Russ Cozart.

cbg- here's some of the facts. It's according how you break it down. Bradley was a force prior to the split. Did you know Overton was a power less than 10 years ago. Where did they finish this year.

Prior to the split according to TSSAA site the public/private schools % of Championships was close with the advantage going to private thanks to McCallies domination thru the 4 year stretch. It has now shifted to Baylor and Bradley. I'm sure Bradley would have one a few during the last 8 years. Some of the powers prior to the Split Overton. East Ridge in early 80's etc. It is an ever changing cycle with Baylor, McCallie, FR, SD and teams like Bradley always in the hunt. The main advantage of D-2 is that there coaches have been there for years. What's the old saying about" Strong and steady wins the race." I'm sure one of the wise folks on here will correct the saying.

jack%20webb.jpgTHE FACTS MA'AM, NOTHING BUT THE FACTS

  15. I did not disagree with your statements, I was just curious who. I didnt really follow the DI much this year.

I think there were a few kids get to the semis that were a shock to some. I remember looking at some of the brackets trying to figure out where the kid came from and they were not in the top 4.

I guess this years biggest upset was 189lb Morgan of UC over Clarksville Minnwell in the Semis! The #4 over #1.

Did that happend in d-2 this year or in the past? Seams to happen in D-1 every year.

I think Jake Gaismeir of Baylor did it in 2004 but I could be wrong.

  16. Your on the wrong thread MasterLoser. My question is why would Tanner Johnson go back there and/or why would he be allowed to come back to the team if he was kicked off.

The topic is Steve Logsdon, not Tanner Johnson. U tried to redirect the topic. So maybe you have some other motivation camper boy! :thumb:

Not a Bradley Bear, so don't know the history there, except he is a great coach and leader of young men.

I think it is a fair question.

That way I can understand why the top teams in TN do not wrestle each other.

  17. Just out of curiosity Masterblaster,

Who was the big suprise this year that won the DI state?

MB1 quote-Also, there's always that kid in D-1 that no body expected to be in the finals or win it. I don't see that happening in D-2.

I don't think there was a Champion this year but their has been a few in the past. The one that comes to mind is Bundy his first Championship.

RB kid aginst Felix this year in the finals.

2006-Frankie Morgan against the unbeatable and undefeated Minwell.

2004-Turner upset the #1 Borneman to get to the finals.

Is that enough or do I need to research TSSAA site. How often does the 3rd or 4th ranked or lower ranked kid make it to the finals in d-2?

  18. Don't even go there "again", PLEASE!!!

So was this discussed in the past on CoachT? If so where? My kids were still playing T-ball when the split happened. I don't understand coach L not wrestling the other top programs in the State.

  19. The d-2 kids get no respect because their tournament is a joke. how rewarding can it be to beat such a small field? Most of the d-2 champions would still be in the top two or three with many of them winning regardless. Keep public/private seperate team standings but lets have our state champions be state champions

I think most of us would agree with this post. Take a look at the pictures from the D-1, 152 match. Those two young men looked like they had been thru a battle to get to the finals.

Also, there's always that kid in D-1 that no body expected to be in the finals or win it. I don't see that happening in D-2.

Keep the duals the way they are. Bring the TRADITIONAL STATE back together.

The best of the best and do away with team scores.
