  1. For anyone following DC they should know that the talent was not there this year.  RB was very good but not much else on offensive side of the ball.  Then moving to that district is not like playing Northwest, Westcreek, Springfield, Kenwood, Clarksville, Rossview.  Now Ravenwood, Franklin, Independence, Brentwood, Centennial.  Yes the loss to Creekwood was bad.  Coach Williams will get DC to where they need to be.

Records are not always things people should be looking at in high school ball.  A lot of things go on with 14-18 year old minds.  You never know what happens at home or with a girl friend.

  2. I will throw out 4 names or possibilities: Snider, Southerland, Ray, Goodwin.

I can see Snider and Ray but not Southerland because he resigned from Springfield so he could be closer to home. I don't think Stewart Co. would be considered closer to home. Goodwin I believe is happy down where he is. I think he would be good just don't know if he would come back this way. I wish whoever gets it the best of luck and they will have big shoes to fill. Coach did a great job getting the program going back in the right direction.

  3. Renewed optimism with the new staff. If the boys can bye into the new leadership and work hard, then they could have a decent season. Anxious to see what is in store for the coming year.

Who is new to the staff? or better yet tell us who is all on staff for Gallatin this year.

  4. Camden and Creek Wood have been the "front runners" in the district since it came to be in 2009. Harpeth and Stewart County have each been to the playoffs in 2 of the 3 years of play. Cheatham County and Montgomery Central have each been to the playoffs once during that time. Waverly has been right on the "playoff bubble" in each of the three seasons but they've yet to qualify for the postseason.

Montgomery Central and Stewart County will have to replace good head football coaches who have stepped down from their respective schools for personal family reasons.

Montgomery Central made a great hire to replace the Coach that is leaving. They will be in good hands with a solid coaching staff as well. They are going to push them to be the very best they can and I believe the players will respond. I know they lost a lot this past year but if the young men will listen and learn what is being taught they will surprise A LOT of teams.

  5. Creek Wood ran the "double slot triple option" attack and I fully would expect Montgomery Central to do the same thing. Creek Wood has had an impressive run of 3 good quarterbacks since they switched to the option in 2007 (I think?????). First it was Dollard, then came Hooper, and most recently it was Lee. All of those guys were great runners and read it well.

Montgomery Central just graduated their 3 year starting quarterback in Sam Hudson. Derek Posey was the backup under Bragg last year but I would not at all be shocked to see an athlete making the move to the QB position in the spring time.

You all don't know what you are talking about. He runs the wing-T out of Double slot. a little option mixed in but you better be ready for Buck sweep, Trap, Jet. He will do a great job out there running what he thinks will best suit the players he has out there. A great young coach who will work hard for the young men out there and the program will continue to get better.

Coach Tomlinson if you happen to read this or someone does that knows him please let him know I am wishing him the best.

  7. It's official. Tomlinson is the guy at Central. Will he continue to run the midline option like he did at CHS or run wing-t like he did at Creekwood?? I assume wing-t since Central ran it under Bragg. Good luck to the guys on the Hill

I am sure that is what he will run. He will run buck sweep, Jet Sweep, FB trap and all other wing-T plays because he is a big Wing-T guy. The option was just something he tried but he is a WIng-T man through and through. Good luck stopping it with him calling the plays in it. He knows it inside and out.

  8. I know who GOV4LIFE is and that is a pic from many years ago. Bet the ranch Austin Peay has a football clinic and Chad Pennington is the guest speaker. Don't know who else is going to be their but I bet it is going to be good. I'm going to call Coach and see if this is true and if he will let me I will post info about this on all of the class cites.

Chad Pennington is guest speaker for Thursday night. Then on Friday, 4 coaches who made it to the championship games are set to speak. Also there will a football rules meeting at that time.

  9. Division 2 schools cant recruit either. Certain office personnel are allowed to contact families IF those families had already been in contact with the schools first. People in the admission and financial aid offices may contact them and discuss options. They can recruit for athletics or offer any financial aid that the family doesnt qualify for.

It may say they CAN'T but there is nothing to stop them from doing it. The best thing to do would be put all Private schools together in their own division and then none of the Public schools play them.

No this will not stop the "contacting" or "asking" students to come to their school. but at least they will be playing each other on their own ground. Yes there are some privates that do the right thing and some that will do whatever it takes to win.

I am with you Iceman just wish there was something that could be done but it is also like other schools right now that have balls out going over plays, and coaching even though they are not doing spring training right now.

Good Luck in everything that goes on Iceman.

  10. The interview process is winding down and a decision is said to be made by the end of the month. The top two candidates are Jeff Tomlinson (OC) from Creekwood and Larry Lepkowski (Asst Head/DC) who is currently on the staff at Central. The program will benefit from either of the two getting the job. There are two teaching positions that Tomlinson could fill. An AP History position and the soon to be vacant ISS position that will be open when Bragg departs. There seems to be a lot of support for Lepkowski to get the job within the community and he has a lot of experience from within the program. Talk is that the new hire will come from very close to home with much closer ties to the school and community. That being said you never know. There is also some encouraging news with the incoming freshmen class. 52 are participating in voluntary winter work-outs with many of them with previous playing experience. It seems like the changes made in the program in the past few years are sparking a continued interest in football at Central. "Go Indians".

Iceman that is very good news coming out of Indian Nation. Things have been going very well the last few years. I hope the position is filled before the end of the month. The new coach needs to come in there and put his stamp on what offense and defense is going to be run. If Tomlinson doesn't get the job then that would leave Coach L two positions to use to bring in two more coaches. Always good to have coaches in the building. keep us informed on what you hear from out in Indian Nation.

  11. The word is that neither of the named schools is the job to go for in Clarksville. All the hype seems to be coming from Clarksville Academy! Why are they not loosing coaches in Clarksville? Maybe Clarksville messed up when they allowed Hood to go to the Academy! Seems to be creating a heck of a staff! Maybe the county will watch how he runs a program and model him in the future. Think Hood is doing a heck of a job!

Hood does a great job. They had a great group of seniors this year. Played only one team over a .500 record. They (CA) are losing coaches as one is leaving to go to Fl. just announced in paper. Who have they hired to replace him? Their basketball coach left after the twins left. Coincidence I think not. I don't think all the hype is coming from the Academy. NE is going to be very good this year in a very good conference. Springfield should be good with everyone returning. Dickson Co. and Henry Co. will be the #1 and #2 teams until someone beats them. Clarksville lost all of their offense. Northwest should be better as they return most. Rossview lost quite a bit. Kenwood with the losing of their Coach will be a wildcard team. Westcreek will be another wildcard team depending on who they get for a coach. They have some athletes out there.

  12. The coach almost made a HUGE mistake it is against NCAA rules for him to speak at any event where players are at. He could be considered a recruiting violation. I know of another team that tried to get a college coach to speak at and was told it would be a violation.

players will be at the one he is speaking at in Clarksville. Where ever he speaks you will find some baseball players.

  13. Cutbacks or "serious problems" have nothing to do with it...It is all about timing and administrative decisions. Unfortunately, things happen in athletic programs, i.e., coaches get hired/fired/let go, etc. Other coaches are hired/fired/let go for other reasons. In any athletic program timing is everything. Sometimes it just has to be the right time, for the right coach. We shall see, but I am sure the right man for the job will come along at just the right time, as it always does. Go Indians!

You are correct Iceman. A lot of the time it depends on the teaching slot available. As most coaches have either a PE or History job that are slated with. Well what happens if all of your PE spots are filled and the same with the History spots. Some coaches my resign from coaching and not go anywhere else to coach but they will still end up teaching at the same school. Some coaches may get let go and then they may go coach somewhere else but still stay at the same high school and teach. This causes a lot of problems when trying to hire a new coach. Also causes problems when trying to hire asst. coaches.

Iceman keep the tribe up and going. Hope a decision is made soon. Whether it is Coach L from out there already on staff who will do a great job, or Coach Tomlinson who could come in and do a great job. As these seem to be the 2 frontrunners. There are some good people out at Central who will work very hard for the program to continue to improve on what Coach Bragg has done while he has been out there.

Good Luck to all USL members out there. Watch your snacks as you never know who may be coming after your food.

  14. Its been this way since David Baker (former superintendent) tried to do away with sports in the early 80's and will remain in a shambles till middle school football is brought back. They have middle school basketball and look how Clarksville has been a player factory, now its time for parents there to stand up for there children and demand that they put middle school football back into the schools! Football has the most numbers for sports, parents can make theirselves be heard!

You are exactly right Coach M. Keep telling it like it is.

  15. The top 2 candidates are Tomlinson from Creek Wood and Lepkowski who was on the staff (as DC most recently) over the last 13 years. Tomlinson was at Clarksville prior to joining the Creek Wood staff and would bring a "triple option" offensive attack to Montgomery Central if he were hired. I'm sure Lepkowski would stay on staff as Tomlinson's defensive coordinator which in my opinion would give Central the best of both worlds because they'd have an offensive coach and a defensive coach who both do great jobs and both are very familiar with the teams in the district.

What happened to Sutherland? I thought he as getting a look out there. Good luck to him he needs his time to shine and show what he can do. Maybe West Creek will do that.

Tomlinson will do a great gob if he gets it. Plus he will have great coaches out there if they stay. Coach L, Coach Dawson, Coach Hey, Coach Thompson, and Coach Walker. All great guys to coach with and the kids will play hard for them.
