  1. I think you've lost count here on just who is in control. You see, to start with, me being a DB fan and you being a South fan means that I own you from the very start. I know its late and your probably half way through your pickle jar, but you lost before you even got started. Thats just the way it is.

ok..bed time for me...tell ya what...and i promise..i will come back tomorrow night and tell you again....you my friend and all your db pals, surely do suck.....lol.....have a pleasant evening.......ys....lol....ys, ys, ys, ys, ys, ys...nighty night...ys, ys, ys, ys..

  2. Gentlemen(I use that term loosely) we are all adults discusiing only a game played by 14-18 yo young men!!!! It's not brain surgery or Armageddon, it's just another Friday night in which the superior athletics team will triumph.....The Dobyns-Bennet High School Indians...Roll Tribe Roll all the way from JF Johnson Stadium to Pactolus and Back

gentlemen?...gentlemen????..who are you insulting....whacko or me.....you must be a db fan....ergo....you must suck as well....lol

  3. I guess you are right. I have seen kids "turn the corner" later than others so I'd say it was unfair of me to say he doesn't have a future in football. I was actually complimenting his baseball talents more so than noting what I thought were football shortcomings. The kid is very athletic and has a bright future in baseball.

I didn't mean to jump up all stifflegged on ya Volman. I know you are a true South fan who is just wanting what is best for the Rebels. The one thing I hope we all can agree on is that all these kids, in all these schools, whatever they are involved in have a bright future in something because if they don't, then all the work in all the years before, has been done in vain.

  4. Expanded lockers, remodeled film room and recently remodeled coaches office.

There is only so much you can do with available space. The facility is very nice in my opinion and as you mentioned Dr. McMillin got all of that rolling with a lot of focus and effort 5 years ago.

Headrick would project to be a contributing WR as Jr and Sr IMO. And he may yet elect to play. I would think he would be better served to initiate that position transition in South's system as a freshman and then consider his options his soph. year. I envision him as another Henry Ringley/Seth Johnson WR type who were primarily basketball and baseball guys who discovered Stacy's brand of run and shoot to be a fun aspect of football. As we well know they were very successful in that transition after not playing high school ball their 1st years on campus. Headrick has good speed and catches the ball well. As SSFan mentioned, lets not give up on him and keep the encouragement up for all these kids.

Thanks for the info about the facilities Crawdad. I have quit making the long climb down and back up those steps and haven't seen the inside of those buildings for a couple of years. Just a few years ago there are not many football fans in the Colonial Heights community that would have imagined that South football would be as good as it is today. These young men who coach at South have truly done a wonderful job and we should be thankful to have them in our town. The best part is that the best part is yet to come. Every year the kids are getting stronger and learning more about what it takes to be successful. From what I have heard this will be South's physically strongest team ever. I really think now that if consolidation or annexation don't take it away, we will be seeing a gold ball in the South trophy cases in the not too distant future.

  5. This may be a bit off topic, but could someone tell me if there have been any significant new additions or improvements to the football locker rooms and training facilities since Doc McMillin left the program about 4 years ago. I know that with the run of wins South has to be generating some money, but is it keeping up with the joneses so to speak in regards to facilities that help to keep your program on the uptrend. Are there still a lot of daddies and mommies comitted to giving the Rebels these advantages? Just askin.

Oh and one other thing, Volman, you just don't know that HEDrick kid very well. He may not like playing football but it has nothing to do with being afraid of contact. I know the kid real well and he has never complained about the physical nature of football. He is a bit behind his age group in growth and took a beating without complaining last year at CHMS. He is as heady and athletic as anyone in his class. He may never play football at Sullivan South, but we don't need to make sure of that by downgrading his talents on an anonymous internet message board.

  6. Correct...not one game...no less than 8 each week. He's at about 184 but he is 5'9" not whatever the program says. At the combines he was 4.6 flat. At Wake Forest he was 4.57 all three tries. Last year he was lucky to hit 4.69. As soon as summer drills hit Stacy commented to me about how much faster he was. It was evident in the Science Hill game. I keep asking him to get retimed. Homie don't play that. CN, Tusculum, Wofford, and then MTSU turned the perferbial nose up to him. New film is going out in 2 days to all three top divisions. They have last years film and some have the Science Hill game but the rest is going out now. Quite frankly, there is no comparison between '07 and '08. So I can see why there was little response. You Tube is a tremendous idea and I've been reading on how to get it done. This is hammer time right now and I'm sweating bullets. On the other thread I admitted to being relegated to a lower division. Taylor is being pushed to sign with Tusculum. This whole process strips away any preconcieved notions you may have. It is actually a reality check. If he wants to walk on I will probably let him. But clearly we are not finished yet. We still have a few weeks to go. However realistically speaking we only have 3 weeks. It is coming down to the wire as we speak.

Bradley is the best QB this side of Knoxville. Jamie is good but does not have the deliberation or the intuition that Bradley has. Greenway doesn't have the focus. Those are the 3 best.

KK has velcro hands. And his speed has increased. but not D1 speed. He is the most intuitive WR this side of Knoxville regardless of classification.

Hunter will go. He has the platform that they can work with. He has the potential they look for.

As far as camps...they group you. 4.4's and better then 4.5's and then everybody else. You figure it out. They look at it like if you are fast enough then they can teach you football.

What you are saying is if they saw him run then they would see. And I keep hoping. But the reality is...40 time...bottom line. Sad but true.

Ok Comp thanks. There was a movie from the early 80's called Chariots of Fire about one of the early olympics. One of the characters whose whole life was missionary work and running said at one point "I believe God made me for a purpose, but he also made me fast. When I run, I feel his pleasure". Whenever I see these kids from South or any other school run, play football, basketball or whatever, I remember that quote. I think that is what sports are all about, reaching your potential through a strong will and hard work. Achieving that potential at whatever level it may be is really the only thing that matters and having achieved the highest level each is capable of, the athlete and all those who have had the joy of watching him or her perform are better human beings because of it. I know that I have enjoyed watching Taylor and his teammates the last couple of years. I would like to thank all of them and the teams they competed against for making my life more interesting and enjoyable. I thank them for allowing me to feel God's pleasure in these young athletes. Whatever thier future holds, I do wish them good luck and God's speed.

  8. I dont believe anybody short of an 8 man front has stopped Fletcher this year. And while we are on the subject, Comp, I have been wanting to ask you. How much does Taylor weigh anyway? What is his actual 40 time. Is he getting any love from IAA or IA schools? Did he go around to any of the camps this past summer? I follow recruiting quite a bit and have looked at a lot of film on what the "experts" say are the top APB in the country and I can tell you this. I see Taylor make runs every Friday night that are more impressive than most of these "top 100" running backs. Do you guys have a highlight film of him posted on the web anywhere? YOUtube maybe? You really should put one out there and get a buzz going on him. And for that matter, I have seen a lot of successful college qb's that don't have the same touch that BD has. He may not be as strong yet, but when that kid is on he can thread a needle. I hope someone has the right type offense for him to step into. They both seem like just outstanding young men as well as do the rest ot this Rebel's team that I have met.

  9. Did you guys see where ESPN has Hunter on their top 150 watchlist? Congrats to him. Does anyone know if any of the other south kids have anyone actually recruiting them not just sending mail? Did anyone go to camps last summer or plan on going this year? Did anyone go to any of the junior days held by many colleges this spring? Any information would be appreciated.

  10. it appears that South has grown up a bit this year. Their sophomore class has stepped in and taken over for last years seniors in a way that only their parents and the coaching staff could have anticipated. I know that I never thought they could be as good as they are. My bad. With the returning classes they have made this years South team pretty big, strong, and fast as well. All of us in Sullivan county know what South has. Can someone tell me what East has this year. I remember a big brusing running back they had last year. Is he back? Who are their skill people? Their roster shows their line to be big, but are they experienced? I noticed a 230# QB on the roster. Is he the starter? What sort of offense do they run? South's only weakness so far this year has been stopping the run at the corner. Thats how Greenville beat them and that pitch to the outside corner is how TH got much of their yardage. Any information from you Mo East fans would be appreciated.

  11. DB was in the game until the 4th quarter. They were playing a basketball factory. The Atlanta team has at least two D1 prospects. I am not sure if there is a D1 prospect in Northeast Tennessee. DB has beaten everybody they have played in Northeast Tennessee which is where this thread concerned. Until they get beat several times they should be ranked number one in Northeast Tennessee. Unicoi has a fine team as well, but they are not as good as DB.

  12. Well THS has 8 players suspended for the South game so we are only dressing 7 or 8 i hope we can hold our own

8 players suspended??????? did they try sneaking some rum through customs or something?...seriously.....i was looking forward to this game to find out if South was gonna be able to compete in the league, but if 8 top players are suspended it will be hard to get up for the game...i hope the 8 arent starters..didnt they make a movie...8 men out?
