Turtle is correct that the Webb game was indeed a defensive battle. It was a very ugly game. Neither offense could get much going. There were a lot of penalties on both teams. The only TD was scored by A-E and it was called back on a penalty.

I don't know what happened with us last week, BUT we will be alright! Go Roadrunners!!!

  2. The 1986 Austin-East Roadrunners. One of the greatest teams to come out of Knoxville!

    • Led by Mr. Football winner & Parade All-American, Leroy Thompson
    • Had 2 1000+ yd rushers in Thompson & Joey Smith
    • The defense was also dominant and had several shut-outs
    • Went undefeated (15-0) & played in a conference that included Knoxville Rule, Alcoa, & Maryville among others. We beat Maryville twice that year!
    • Beat Brentwood Academy in the Clinic Bowl to win the 2A State Championship
    • Several players from that team went on to play college ball. Most notably Leroy Thompson at Penn State & Joey Smith at Louisville
    • Thompson & Smith went on to play in the NFL.
      • Thompson with the Steelers, Patriots, Chiefs, & Buccaneers
      • Smith with the Giants
  3. Joshua 14:6-14 (MSG)

Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite spoke: “You’ll remember what God said to Moses the man of God concerning you and me back at Kadesh Barnea. I was forty years old when Moses the servant of God sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land. And I brought back an honest and accurate report. My companions who went with me discouraged the people, but I stuck to my guns, totally with God, my God. That was the day that Moses solemnly promised, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance, you and your children’s, forever. Yes, you have lived totally for God.’ Now look at me: God has kept me alive, as he promised. It is now forty-five years since God spoke this word to Moses, years in which Israel wandered in the wilderness. And here I am today, eighty-five years old! I’m as strong as I was the day Moses sent me out. I’m as strong as ever in battle, whether coming or going. So give me this hill country that God promised me. You yourself heard the report, that the Anakim were there with their great fortress cities. If God goes with me, I will drive them out, just as God said.”

13-14 Joshua blessed him. He gave Hebron to Caleb son of Jephunneh as an inheritance. Hebron belongs to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite still today, because he gave himself totally to God, the God of Israel.

  4. There is no doubt about Alcoa's dominance the last several years. But, I think fans tend to forget that AE has also been one of East Tennessee's better football programs. Yes, we had a few down years but, we are back on track. Turtle you are correct, NO ONE gave AE a chance when we played and we won by 14. I don't believe A-E has played their best game this year yet.  I agree, it would be a mistake to count the Roadrunners out.

  5. I can see Alcoa with 3 losses still being in the top 10 but what about AE, I know they beat Alcoa but still

A-E forgot their blue suitcase in their losses :roflol::roflol:

When you look at A-E's 3 losses, you have to say that they were to some good teams. One was to Powell (ranked #2 in 5A). One was to West (ranked #8 in 5A). The last one was to Carter (4A school that is doing suprisingly well this year).
