1. It's been posted over and over on here. Small privates are almost all in large metro areas.  Nashville...for instance...has over 1 million people in the metro area.  In theory...the small privates have that pool of people to draw from.  In our case...we have 15,000 people and two high schools.

OK - lets look at that reasoning and poke some holes in it. Non-aid privates don't offer aid - thus no scholarships. According to the latest Census statistics, a majority of people living in Davidson county live at or below the poverty line - it's the reasoning Metro schools use for the their poor performance academically (NCLB) along with the overwhelming minority populartion that is actually a majority in Metro schools. Being as most can't pay for private school, how is an advantage gained? As the schools are non-aid schools, the schools do not choose who attends there - the kid's parents choose.

Take Friendship for example. Hardly in the Metro Nashville area. How do they have an advantage.

And, yes, I'm keenly aware of Smith County. Relative of mine graduated there in 2001 and another that's a junior there now.

  2. Wow...you are really impressive with your vast knowledge.  :thumb:  How do you know if Gordansville whined  or not?  Yeah...I guess you should have thrown the weakest team of all in the and that's Friendship.  :thumb: Evidently...you are still feeling those spankings.

We tried to play you this year too...but you declined (who'd a thunk that?)  LA...Macon...Portland were all rated in the top 10 each of those years. You are talking to me about a weak region.  That's hilarious.

    Antwan,

Exactly how do the non-aid privates have an advantage? Explain it to me.

    Thanks.

  3. Facts - Miller was not a starter for LHS when he left, Alsup was not a starter when he left. Fact LHS is not a Target school. Fact - Your boy Hunt was not rehired at LHS , Cookeville High , Beech High . Fact - No FCS football Player is a starter on a Football program in College. Lets wait and see! Fact you LHS critics on here do not know what you are talking about. By your post please respect your previous high schools and dont tell us where you went!!!!!!!!!!!! The player you are speaking about at Oakland is a good kid but has academic problems he is trying to fix. Fact- Hester returned to LHS from siegel  and Grooms was not rehired at LHS. Who is the 2nd coach from SIegel?

    825733793

Fact - no LHS player is a starter on a college football team (please don't toss Cumberland Football crud on here - that's a joke).

Fact - Hunt was not rehired due to disagreements with parents of LHS baseball players that felt junior should have been playing more - especially since they were giving money for the new field and such.

Fact - the illustrious LHS soooo has their stuff together that they have blown through roughly 5 baseball coaches in 6 or 7 years. Messner chose to go back to Riverdale as an assistant due to the fact the he felt Lebanon would NEVER be able to win.

Where did you go to school? I bet you were a second rate O-lineman that rarely played at LHS, but because you got the coaches award at the end of year banquet you love LHS.

I'm sorry life has been tough on you. However, the rest of us don't won't to be brought down by you force feeding us that Lebanon is a great place. It never has been and never will be.

  4. 41-11 playing Trousdale County (Class A) who you lost to in 03, Gordonsville (Class A), York Institute, Jackson County and the mighty Dekalb County!  Mighty impressive Antwan!!!  What happened when you played outside that weak Region your in?  You got spanked just like Knox Catholic did to the OWLS this year.

This year should the hooters make the playoffs you at least want have to face AE and Fulton!  My post said it's all about the public schools who can't win championships and that applies to Smith CO.  At least Gordonsville won a GOLD BALL in 84 and didn't whine about having to play ECS who is now Div II.  They just lined up and played and didn't whine about them being a private school.

    NEXT ARGUMENT! :thumb:  :thumb:  :thumb:

    NICE!!!!

  5. tnsddeveloper,

You must have never went to a LHS game! All you have to do is listen to the announcer to hear how good they are. Come on, this is a "storied" program! Two third round playoff ventures in the last 25 years...not to mention all of the 8 and 9 win seasons and the "one and dones."  The "good ole days" and those that remember them were the "bend but don't break defense" and "don't do anything to beat yourself offense" that would fall on its face in the playoffs because the opposition would score more than the patsies on LHS's schedule. How many region championships have they won? The last team to win a playoff game only won 6 regular season games. Bring back that staff and let's return to the "glory" years.

I will comment on the transfers to FCS...some I would suspect are wanting to be "the bigger fish in a smaller tank." I agree with you that a real program allows the players to have a life outside of FB and taboo as it sounds at LHS....play another sport.

I too am not a LHS grad even though I enjoy living here since the mid 80's.

    825733727

Actually and sadly enough, I have been to more Lebanon games than I really should admit. Remember, I played baseball at Cumberland - there is not exactly a lot of things to do on Friday evenings in Lebanon ... especially when I was a student there. The Thirsty Turtle wasn't even there yet! :thumb:

I agree. Some may want to be bigger fish. Some may want to better baseball exposure. Some may want a more structured, Christian-related education. They may want to escape the sess pool of Lebanon High. There are tons of reasons why a kid my transfer. I think it is funny how hypocritical it is when Lebanon fans get a transfer in and it's OK, but when a transfer (or multiple transfers) chooses to leave a fading program, the LHS faithfull have a heartattack and begin to point fingers.

  6. tnsddeveloper,

Well said again my friend and I believe the mulitplier is 1.8 for this year!

    :thumb:  :thumb:  :thumb:

As far as the Alsup kid getting admitted and others being on a waiting list.  I believe FCS has limites on each class and his just happened to be under the limit.  But that  probably want make since to you either, R U Blindman!!

    825733711

I firmly believe the "waitlist" thing is a bunch of hooey! There is no waitlist there ... never has been. That's just someone making crud up that doesn't know any better. You see that these people grasp at straws when they don't have any concrete "proof" of something they perceive as wrong going on.

  7. they just don't get the looks there that they deserve

    825720107

What???? They've had football signees at WKU, Carson Newman, Louisville, Cumberland (a LHS favorite), and several others ... I don't see LHS ballers racing out of the gates. Most go to Cumberland.

Now when you get into the baseball program it gets even more out of whack. Friendship sends them all over! Cumberland, Samford, Tusculum, MTSU, Lipscomb, UT, and tons of JUCOs. Several players have been drafted in the last 10-12 years in baseball. I only remember one from Lebanon (Adcock -great kid by the way - and Watertown transfer I might add).

Now why would they move up? Here is a testament to how small the school is - with the multiplier applied they STILL qualify for A ball. Dang that's small. Why would you play outside your size requires more than two times over when you still qualify to play A ball with the multiplier? In addition, FCS is in the non-assistance Public school division. How are they doing anything beyond the rules? Parents choose to send their kids their for a better school experience - sports, academics, religion, etc. In essence paying twice - taxes to the publics and tuition to FCS.

The parents of the kids at FCS pay taxes like everyone else. The taxes fund the schools which in turn funds the TSSAA. Why should they be held to a different standard?

  8. sounds like to me we have another possible player that either got kicked off or quit the lebanon football team and is just mad because he cant be apart of the blue devil family and instead is going to friend \ship instead so he automatically thinks fc is better than lebanon..... r u kidding me friendship would be destroyed by LEBANON last year and this year its not even a question. they play 1a ball just because they whip up on some teams who r horrible doesnt mean they can beat lebanon so just give it a rest.

And trust u dont want any from FootballMan so just give that a rest

    A few things.

    1. I never attended Lebanon High and would have never considered it either. It's a sess pool. You can keep your disfunctional family, especially after they way Scott Hunt was treated by your "family". He was one of your own and you guys shafted him. Not to mention his father is Mr. Lebanon - the great Woody Hunt. I lived in Lebanon during college as I played BASEBALL at Cumberland in the 90's. Not the High School Plus 1 football they play at Cumberland, but Baseball.

    2. No one is claiming that FCS would beat Lebanon in football ... all though they do regularly in baseball. What people are saying is that in terms of programs, FCS has a better athletic PROGRAM. It shows with the recent transfers who are willing to possibly sit a year to play there. You guys still hang your hats on Aulds, Carson, and Triplett. All went to second rate programs (yes, Vandy is second rate). For every Lebanon "star" that went to college to play football, someone familiar with FCS could toss up a similar or better football signee or another sport for that matter.

    3. You need to get past your own jealousy. It hurts when starters from your teams decide to attend a better program ... and academic school for that matter. You didn't have a problem with it when it worked to your benefit. Why does it bother you now?

    4. It is going to get worse for you guys too. Once Five Oaks is fully complete and the newest massive lakefront/golf community is built (almost across the street from FCS), the programs their will get even better ... and your jealousy will get larger too.

    5. No one every said they want a piece of any one ... whether they are pushing 300 "bills" or not. (He said "bills".) That is why your arguments are Harry High School. You don't have a good rebuttal or the ability to state a good position so you resort to threats through innuendo. Which no one is scared of by the way.

  9. You're right about the girl's that went to FCS and WC.  I hear TSSAA was notified about that, but they won't do anything about it as usual.  They also were informed that during the 15 year old world series a few LHS parents overheard a FCS administrative rep. spoke to the Alsup's and told them that he could play both baseball and football with no problems at FCS.

Still man you are not answering the question about where you went to high school and what year.  I'm beginning to think that you're afraid to say b/c then you'd be a hipocrite bashing LHS.  Come on and step up.....don't be scared tell us where you went to school and the year.

    825732246

How Harry High School does all this sound? Are you going to meet this chap out at the playground because he believes your beloved Blue Devils are somewhat second class? Where did you guys go to school? I bet Lebanon ... for which I'm so sorry. If not, then it's really sad that you picked that place to be your adopted school. Give it up guys, no matter how much brow beating you do, no one is going to suddenly believe Lebanon is a great mecca of a place.

Please don't talk about other schools "recruiting" or misteriously attending another school. Jade Sellars went to Lebanon after being a former FCS student, then MJ Junior High Student (for a week or so), then FCS student, only then to become a Lebanon student. AND his parents' house is smack dab in the middle of Mt. Juliet - has been for as long as I've been alive. I can list several former people from my time that mysteriously went from FCS to Lebanon and were major contributors to those teams (or at least great role players) - Steve Rose, Jade Sellars, Alex Skaalerud, Daniel Dawson. Sounds like the gripe you guys have is that you are no longer the beneficiaries of the mysterious transfer.
