  1. This FC team is definitely in the discussion among the schools all-time best.  They are loaded with Sr’s who love playing as a unit.  They have good team speed and more than one game-breaker offensively.  To cement their place they need to bring home the gold ball.

I’m concerned that they haven’t played much competition his yr with an average TC team being maybe the best team so far.  Another concern is the interior of the FC o-line.  Power’s is a beast and brings it every play.  However, it’s beyond time to get Cherry on the field offensively in the middle of that o-line.  Once you get to this point you’ve gotta put your best 11 on the field.

Defensively, Coach Lowe will have the defense prepared x & o wise.  DCA’s qb exposed some mid season weaknesses but hopefully they’ve been corrected and coached up since.

NCS coach Brother’s is top notch and will be likewise prepared.  Should be a good one to watch.

Thats what i have said bass, dont copy me.  double digit blast.  mc beat h2os best team in history like a drum last year, now it is the jackets turn......

Watertowns best teams in history were 1977 and 1985 when there were only 3 classes instead of the dozen or so now and only district champs & runnerups made the playoffs.

Last yrs team was good but not on par with those two teams.

You have no idea...but we can't help what Region the TSSAA put us. That's pretty much the reason I only go to a handful games every year. Our season, historically, doesn't start until the playoffs. I went to the Lebanon game, and would have went to the FCS game, if Maryville hadn't been coming to Oakland. I'll probably go the Macon County &/or the Westmoreland game, as long as it's not the Oakland/Blackman week. Not too much to see after that, I don't think, until about the Second Rd. or the Quarters.

That being said...I just though about this. How many other Regions have produced three State Champions in the last ten years, or so (TC, FCS {before DII} & Gordonsville)?

One year (2011) the old Region 4A-AA had two State champions from the same Region.

    Gordonsville in 1A

    FC in 2A

I know without a doubt from 2009 thru 2012 it was more difficult to win Region 4 than it was to win a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!!

Rankin is best offense player too but the coach decided not to give him the ball or even let him play 5 offensive plays wasn't tired or weaker bad turnovers on special teams on the wrong side of the field will get any team beat player for player TC showed they are better team at end of year the record and how far both teams go in the playoffs will show that TC is the better team special teams fumbles just cost TC the game and not letting Rankins which was the best player on the field on both sides Friday night cost TC the game and credit goes to FC for capitalizing on those mistakes also

Rankin is a good player and appeared to be TC's best on defense.  I saw his performance vs Lebanon and no way he is their best weapon offensively.  Just like he wasn't the best player on the field Friday night.

If memory serves me correct the score may have been even worse had FC not taken knees deep in TC territory rather than punching another score in.  To say TC is better than FC or "we'll see who goes further" is akin to whining like LHS has done all this past wk about being better than TC.  I'm calling BS on both statements.

  5. While still trailing by a lot in this long standing rivalry FC has now won 4 of the last 5 meetings.  Glad to see these two playing again.  It definitely should help both teams come November.

From my perspective TC threw it better than I thought they could.  Their QB is unquestionably their best offensive threat.  Reminded me a lot of a skinny Lee Massen yrs ago for FC.

FC was much stronger between the tackles and once McNeal committed to pound the football in the 2nd half instead of running the jet and other runs outside FC took control offensively.

Defensively, the Rankin kid played great for TC.  Likewise, Bostian, Taylor, & Cherry played well for FC.  TC looked tired and physically beaten down by the 4th qrtr.  The bigger, stronger, better team won.

I don't have a clue about FCS. We haven't been good the last few years so who knows. Is this TC team as good as the 2005-2010 teams?

Spot on!  The Commanders have not been very good the past couple of yrs.  on field success or lack of hasn't been the competition or higher enrollments as much as the higher level of coaching from opponents like Webb, St. George's, Etc.  Those coaches make /made adjustments and FC didn't.  Numerous times had the coaches swapped sides at half-time the outcome would have been opposite.

This yrs team compares favorably with the state runner-up 2006-2007 team in my opinion.  Solid line but youthful in spots, Good at rb, athletic but still unproven at QB to this point.  The defense will be prepared as always.  Lots of Srs on this team who can play the game well.  Kudos to TC for playing their schedule.  Glad to see these two squaring off again.

  7. I'm a long time SP fan. We're in 1A, but play these teams. Region 3 will wipe the floor with region 4. Forrest might beat Bledsoe, but outside of that one the games shouldn't be close. This is just a rare year where 3 of the top 6-7 teams in 2A are all in the same region. It happens. In 2003 SP and Boyd were the best teams in 1A and they happened to be in the same region.

Not that rare. Remember old Region 4? In 2009 TC was State champs and FC's only 2 losses were to them. In 2011 FC split 2 games with TC and won the State. In 2012 Gordonsville won 1A And FC won 2A with both being from Region 4. Good luck Purple Tigers.
  8. Hopefully it will be a reasonable discussion. I believe all non FCS folks would agree that those kids are good HS football players but not Mr Football winners. Mr Football winners are always considered the absolute dominate players in that division. Doesn't mean they can't be mentioned but there are more deserving kids.

Can I have some popcorn too? It should be fun reading the usual stuff posted by some of these folks. BTW Doyle what's your opinion? Have you seen the Webb kid play?

you ask for a reasonable discussion then throw out an ignorant statement right behind it. You obviously don't care for FC due to numerous things ( family injuries, losses to FC, etc) in your personal past but to say neither FC candidate deserves this award is just absurd!! Wood has dominated every opponent he's faced for the past 2 years and Taylor has led his classification in rushing & been among the top 5 in TN in all classes despite splitting carries with Hollis for 4 games prior to his injury. All this while playing both ways for both guys. I'd advise you to go back to the girls soccer pages and supply your poor analysis there. Don't let your spite for FC cast hatred over 2 kids who more than deserved this honor. Obviously, you're in over your head when it comes to football.
  9. We dropped a wide open TD pass and several that would have given us 1st downs. We make those plays we win. Rockwood deserved to win.

Having said that... These may be the worst refs I've ever seen. 3 times the ref walking off yardage got the yardage wrong. He didn't walk off as much as he should have. (Did this to both teams)

Tssaa should do some training because these guys need it. As I said earlier ...they were bad but unbiased.

WOW, guess some things never change! Always someone else's fault. Congrats Rockwood!!
  10. The Northpoint at FC game was a lot closer than the final score of 35-10 made it look. Was close up until the final 6 minutes. Northpoint threw 2 pick 6's in the final 5 minutes (one right at their own goal line that was returned 97 yards) then a third to ice themselves. FC will have their hands full returning to St. Georges who knocked them out last season.

i wouldn't call 21-7 "close". The only reason it didn't get ugly was the refs calling 12 penalties on FC and only 1 on NPC.

On one drive alone FC scores from the 5 only to have it called back via a 10 yd flag. Next play TD! Only to have it called back via a flag. Next play another td that stood. FC dominated this game and it was never in doubt.

  11. DCA will face a solid Davidson team Friday. Theyre much improved from last season and their offense can challenge defenses. Coach Quinn has them believing and if the can stop dca's run game it could be interesting. FC put up over 400 yds of offense up on DA in a monsoon but had to hold on late for the win.

  12. I've seen NCS teams off & on from afar since the mid 80's. This is by far the best they've been. I got a chance to watch their JV & jr high teams this year vs FC and let me tell you these guys are for real. GREAT coaches at all levels it appears and they really remind me a lot of where Friendship was when they left DI-2A. If they don't move to D2 and can ever get past UC (like FC had to do with TC)then they could be in Cookeville's several yrs upcoming. Games like East Lit will provide a semifinal like atmosphere and serve as a measuring stick too. Too bad they don't have another game of similar competition in their schedule to sharpen them for a playoff run. Good luck NCS!

  13. The punter for FCS did an excellent job Friday night. He has really become a solid leg as the season has progressed.

The secondary also looked much improved.

yes, he really seems to be relaxing and has played better every week. Had a great punt late to flip the field vs dca.
  14. FCS should have dominated the score and LOS with all the injuries DCA had. Plus 21 and 1 have been hurt for weeks so DCA has a weak run game. Had the DCA QB not both thrown and int and fumbled inside the 10 this game would have been lopsided. Not to mention another bad throw by him when they started 1st and goal from the 7.

The bottom line for DCA is they need their 6'2 320 lb T back with the other 2 OL out and the backs have to get healthy.

If they get better QB play and catch the ball to help him they will make a long run into the playoffs again.

Kudos to FCS they made enough plays to win.

DCA hung around but with a 12:1 penalty differential and FC tailback Hollis not playing due to injury they should've. The FC defensive coaches made great adjustments from the previous week and stuffed DCA's offense throughout the game. Kudos to dca for not giving up.
  15. Easy there now. I have been a strong supporter of FC for 15 years, both kids there, followed the sports programs in detail for the past 5 years. Also played football (actually center) in another state for 4 years for a dominant team, same sized school as FC. This public forum is reviewing the game, that's all I'm doing, just like everyone else. You'd be hard pressed to find a more loyal FC fan anywhere on here. Just giving my observations of what I have seen. I love the school, love the team. Stand up for them everywhere, especially after the huge controversy at Boyd in 2011.

A loyal FC fan would NEVER attack a 15-18 yr old player. Sometimes your better off being silent and thought a fool rather than opening your pie hole on a public forum and erasing all doubt!

I'd recommend you introduce yourself to the coaches and share your vast knowledge and experience on playing center vs making crazy statements about them not advancing past the first rd of playoffs since that hasn't happened once while you supposedly have followed the FC team.

  16. "The Slop Bowl" is what I would call this game. Both teams looked they have never had a practice. FC has got to replace their center. Once again he snapped a shotgun over the head TWICE. Un-excuseable. That's what burned us against Webb. Really thought this would be like a 35 to 41 type game.

Wow, how long have you followed FC football or just high school football in general? I ask because I'm shocked that you would call out any 15-18 yr old student athletes on a public forum. Especially less than 2 hours after they just went to 7-1 with their 3rd consecutive win over a rival, on the road, without their #1 tailback. Most grown men might think or even speak on these boards in generalities or might even argue coaching moves but rarely will a "fan" attack kids.

As for the player you mentioned most FC fans, coaches, parents, & players would tell you their center is a 2-time state champion in football, 1 in baseball, & 1 in basketball. He's a 3 yr all-region football player who's class is closing in on the all-time wins record for any FC football class.

As for the (in your opinion) "unexcuseable bad snaps" I'm sure no one felt worse than him and no one will need to hold him accountable because he'll do it himself more than any coach or wannabe "fan" could. He won't say that one hit the Qb in the face mask and another went thru a rb hands in the wildcat formation. He won't say it was wet, or that he never asked to play center nor will he remind you how FCS played without him in last yrs playoff loss or that his team rushed for over 300 yds for the 8th straight game this year. Instead, if I know him like I think I do he'll strap it on next week and try to improve. He'll encourage those around him and compete his hardest from the snap thru the whistle each play. He'll take his football failures and learn life lessons from them and be a better man than so called adult "fans" who've probably never played a down for a winner like FC, like you.
