  1. 2011 has nothing to do with 2012.

The fact is one team gets to claim a title that they neither earned or deserve.

    Just my 2 cents

Your 2 cents might buy Boyd a consolation blow pop ring. As for earning it - I'd say FC 2012 more than earned it by

    1. Going to the creek bank and beating #1 ranked TC.

    2. Going to Chattanooga and stuffing a weaker Boyd team.

    3. Going to Oliver Springs and winning 39-0 in semi's and then

    4. shutting out Dresden in the championship game 34-0. That's earning it !!!

Yep, just looked again at the "RING". And it says 2011 STATE CHAMPIONS!! Not woulda shoulda coulda's like Boyd's.

  2. I'd be shocked if TC brought anything less than their best effort so far in 2014. I'm sure they were probably flat against Watertown last week and maybe looking ahead to FC. Kids in each program always look forward to this game. I'm guessing Ellis & Blackwell will start for TC and those two are definitely difference makers. However, this won't be a "ease-in" game for anyone coming off of previous concussions. FC will be physical especially up front with everyone back. Not to mention this group of Srs at FC remembers well the butt whooping TC gave them last yr when FC's best player sat out. Kudo's to coach Creasy for continuing to schedule FC. It's too bad others (Gville & h2otown) in the former region 4 won't.

  3. We'll see. How's Friendship looking this yr?

if y'all had a healthy Harper & Ellis you'd dominate Marion again.

FC is average this yr. Freshman starting at qb along with young inexperienced receivers. Line has some experience back along with a couple sr RB's. Kids can't figure out yet how to play for one another. Probably 7-3, second round of playoffs. Tons of players having to go both ways much like TC. Looking forward to seeing jackets vs FC next wk. hopefully all can stay healthy from here on.

  4. I haven't posted on here in a while...do try to read to keep up with Wilson Co Football

Have yet to see a Watertown post this year...

Sometimes that might be a good thing...let the pads do the talking...

take it easy jackets...good luck to all.

    TC-??

    Wtown- <??

    TC - 48

    H2Otown- 0

  5. Lets look at friendship for example. They could play DCA, Davidson, FRA, Mt Juliet Christian, Ezell, Nashville Christian, Goodpasture, Columbia Academy, Zion Christian, Lancaster, Clarksville Academy, CPA, Lipscomb, JPII. That's 14 schools, you just would need nine. Like I said, not an issue.

i agree there are many quality opponents out there Fred but I still think natural public rivals, like TC, who aren't scared to play the big bad privates would still play us and I think FC from a competition & gate standpoint would still want TC as opposed to Zion, Ezell, or MTCS. Additionally, there could be 3 classes in a new private division with the split and teams like CPA, Goodpasture, JP2, Bga, & Webb will be in a larger class.
  6. You mean Tennessee's 2nd winningest active coach (according to Murphy Fair) lost:

1). At home on the creek bank

2). To a jr high coach coaching his 1st high school gm

    3). To a FR Quarterback

4). With a team of 7 returning starters from the defending 2A champions.

Is this MC coach the next Lombardi? Quite impressive debut. I've watched their jr high teams at MC for years and often wondered why it didn't translate to wins & championships in high school. Maybe they had the right guy under their nose all along.

  7. tushhog hears that MC has hired a whole new coaching crew this year

where did MC get their new coaching staff? Was this new guy coaching 6A ball in GA, FL, or AL? I know they went down to GA For Pemberton. He must be a heckofa coach to go into TC and beat Creasy, the defending 2A champs and odds on favorites to repeat on their beloved creek bank all in his debut game.
  8. Great game by the FC "Crusaders" as the PA announcer called us last night. Converted 2 fourth downs on the opening drive capped off with a Mikey Jones dive in the air arm extension touchdown. Not a whole lot of impressive drama after that other than a Jeff Cherry sack knocking the QB in to Saturday morning. FC kind of struggled throughout the game against an, at best, mediocre team which gives me concern moving forward.

Jones being a Freshman and looking like Junior level gives the "Commanders" a solid QB for a long time if he stays at FC. Hopefully they use last night's game to make great use of the early bye to make some adjustments and hopefully bring some solid force to the upcoming Trousdale and Webb competitions.

cherry is playing very tough both ways for FC. He dominated his last 2 opponents. Mikee also played well for a FR on the road in his 1st start. He had a few dropped passes and put a few drops on the ground himself but make no mistake he is a talent already and should get markedly better as the schedule plays out. IMO he's already a better runner than his predecessor not to mention his very positive attitude.
  9. If the privates do leave don't expect any tssaa school to play them. That would be the biggest deterrent.

They will still play. Maybe take a 2-4 yr break to satisfy their peers but trust me they will still play. Good teams/programs (public or privates) want quality opponents on the schedule prior to playoffs beginning. TC & FC both bring big gates & an opponent who prepares the other for the playoff atmosphere. If faced with the dilemma of traveling 30-45 minutes to play an old rival or 3-5 hours to face an out-of-state opponent either would choose the first option.
  10. Football season is right around the corner. Just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on 9AAA. Here are mine:

    1) Hendersonville

    2) Beech

    3) Station Camp

    4) Mount Juliet

    5) Gallatin

    6) Lebanon

    7) Wilson Central

    8) Portland

    1) Hendersonville

    2) Beech

    3) SC

    4) gallatin

    5) MJ

    6) WC

    7) Lebanon

    8) Portland

  11. Somebody needs to check. I don't think this is the "real" snoball. No big words, A reasonable well thought out post. No sharp tonged comment. IMPOSTER

. I agree, Snoball is usually TC's most sharp-minded yet pointed poster. Could he be losing his competitive edge? In regard to the games outcome and Harper not being there, I'd liken it to FC playing at TC last yr without AJ Long. When 90+% of your game plan revolves around one player and all counters are designed around him too it drastically affects the outcome.

On a side note - when was the last time a visiting team came into the Creekbank a heavy underdog to a TC team everyone had already christened state champs and left to stunned silence on TC's sideline.

    Answer-11-11-11.

TC will bounce back. Hopefully Harper will too and can claim his well deserved mr football award in dec.

  12. I think that a lot of chowbay's problem is attitude from the things I've heard. I'm not sure that he is the leader a qb needs to be.

    Attitude reflects leadership!!

Wonder why we never hear of coach Quarle's players having poor attitudes?

  13. Pearl Cohn decided to not play from what I hear. We had a long scrimmage against FC. Almost all of it was backups. Starters may have had 8 whole plays together. Trapp made it a point in today's newspaper that he isn't worried about seeing what our starters can do in these scrimmages. FC was too much to handle, but like I said I wouldn't read too far into it. I think every single player played tonight. Looked like he's really trying to add depth.

Each team's starters went 30 plays approx. DC scored 1st on a nice jump ball catch but never moved it past their own 30 after that. FC scored twice on the ground and handled DC up front all night on both sides of the ball despite being called a couple of times for "excessive blocking". After the 1st drive it seemed like Jennings got rattled due to FC pressure but given time he can be dangerous. DC never moved it on the ground. Final w/ starters was 2-1 FC.

    FC subs dominated 4-0.

  14. 3rd in the district behind Webb and DCA.

Funny. The only thing I remember FC trailing DCA in last yr was boys hoops. Other than that FC won in football, won 2/3 in baseball & ended dca's yr, dominated them in softball, volleyball, soccer, bowling, etc, etc. Heck FC middle even destroyed DCA middle in football (don't bode well for the future).

If DCA intends to finish ahead of FC they better let you do a little less talking and step it up more on the field. FC lost 3 Srs from last yrs team who hung half a hundred on DCA. DCA lost 7 Srs. I can assure you FC will be better this yr than last.

  15. Mason is going to be fine. Maybe a week of rehab or so and he will be fine. No ACL tear or anything. I couldn't believe that incident. He is blessed not to have a bad injury. That's just football and blocking till the whistle blows though. X ray was alright also an ultrasound. Antwan, since when do scrimmages mean anything to you? We are going to be fine as long as we play with some fire in us. I have to disagree with some of the assessments about Wilson Central. I think they will be pretty good. I also think they remembered the thumping we gave them last year in the scrimmage. They didn't stop us on offense we just didn't stop them on defense. 22 is big and fast. The QB also had a good arm.

At best Wilson Central is .500 overall this year in a very down year for 9AAA & DCA will be the 3rd place team in their Region just like last yr.
