  1. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> LOL....no one is "dissing" their own team...just letting an eager person know to be patient and the jv players will get their chance when they are ready....be proud of what they are accomplishing now without the pressures of the fishbowl.....go back and read the post before commenting on things that you weren't involved with /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> and then you won't feel like someone is attacking you personally /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  2. Don't come asking silly questions. the time table is 8 years and Smith is off to a better start than the last coach. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  3. I doubt it. I try to be objective and this is not my first time around. The jump for lineman from jv to Varsity is huge. IF they were beating out the varsity lineman, I'm sure they would be on the field.
  4. LOL....I'm sure they are against other jv talent and I hope that you get your chance to tell us that you told us so next year.
  5. That would be a welcomed sight but too far down the road to see. Glad to see db getting it together.
  6. Yeah, there is a huge difference from what I would like to see and expect to see. I'm hoping that the game this week is the focus of the team. There are some really good kids hurting right now because they never imagined being where they are right now and they are ready to come out fighting. The problem is that football is a team sport and everyone involved with the team need to have the same attitude. The lack of support in the community is already showing at the last home game. I'll be at Friday's game shouting and yelling like I am at every game, I know it's a long trip but I encourage everyone that is making the trip to fill up their vehicles with as many people possible and show the kids that they are still have some support. I'm pretty sure the band won't be there and they are more of a nusance anyways.
  7. Seems that with his daddy's ties to the school, how the postition was given to him and his play not giving way to anyone else this year it would seem so unless his daddy decides to transfer him again.
  8. Great words to most of the thoughts in the Topper Nation.
  9. What 5a teams are those and what years? I know in the three years that I've been involved with the football program, bowles didn't one of those wins. The only win I can think of that he had against a playoff team was Tn High in 2005.
  10. bowles is a loser who's happy being one. He's winning in sw va might be more to do with a fire being lit under him after his fring. He inherited a talent team that plays in a very weak classification. His true self will show. bowles had been long gone before Smith was hired so it wasn't like he was gotten rid of to make room for Smith. Instead of throwing the ball ineffectively we would be running the ball ineffectively.
  11. I was merely answering a question, I never said that I agreed with the two platoon system. If those kids that are now playing weren't good enough to play at the start of the season, they shouldn't be playing just because a panic button was pushed. It would be nice to see Hill starting at qb, Joslin, McKinley, Adams at wideouts and have Jordan at an Hback/te for a lead blocking, Duanah at tb and run the spread option and see how defenses could respond. There would be changes on defense too, most noteable at corner.
  12. Glad to hear that the injured Patriot was released from the hospital and from all that I can gateher, doing fine. congrautlations to the Patriots on taking advantage of all the breaks to win the game. This was another had scratcher to how did the Toppers lose this one. Not really a head scratcher to how as much as to why. I'll give my opnions to what I saw from each unit and that's all it is....my opnion. Defense- the defense has been exposed the last four weeks to it's weekness. Run the ball up the gut and be patient and you will have a chance to control clock and wear them out. Sevier Co was too far behind for it to be effective but TN High showed that it could be done and Bearden and Jeff Co took it to another level. There are natural gaps in this defense that allows for 2-4 yards every play against teams that pound the rock. Couple that with that we have few defenders that are tackling and it allows for 50+ rushes the last three weeks. Our defenders seem to try to grab hold of he ballcarriers and slling him around (usually forward) then putting a shoulder into them and driving with their legs. I'm sure in the latter stages of the games it might be fatigue. Jeff Co did a very good job of sticking to their game plan after falling behind early and allowing their punishing running game to move forward with the three yards and a cloud of dust. They took their shots in the passing game and we were lucky that they didn't capitalize except for the pass interference call. It was pass interference the defender stopped running and jumped way to early. The defense had several opportunites to get off the field and could not get it done. The fourth down conversions were made on dive plays from a couple yards out or more. The defense could not force it's will on the Patriot offense with a two touchdown lead. Offense-the offense seems to be stagnetnt and the only time something happens is when a player makes it happen. It seemed that the Patriots played man to man all game but we didnt' try to test it with any downfield throws but it might be the lack of confidence in the ball getting there. Most passes are either high or behind or thrown up for grabs. We have to do a better job of getting the playmakers into open space with the ball. The offensive line does a great job of pass blocking but haven opened very few holes all season long. Most of the succesive runs have came when the ball carrier bounces it outside. The Toppers have ran 26 fewer plays than the Patriots did. In the second half, Science Hill gained only 70 yards and had three possesions for no points. If we can't hand the ball off in the second half or throw for first downs, what can be done?
  13. Prayers out to the injured Jeff County player and congratulatios to the Patriots on the win.
  14. since your complaining about gas am1590 broacasts on the raido so you could save the trip.....by the way try Bearden last week and Campbell Co next week from JC
  15. This one is going to be a hard one to figure out. I have my opnions on what the Toppers will need to do to win but I'm a lil sketchy on Jefferson Co. and what they are about. I mean they beat West by 15 and then lose to Campbell Co. and East is riddled with injuries seems to me that they are undefeated in the old IMAC though. Science Hill offensivley will not be the same team as last week. These kids are hungry for a win and both losses have been tied to their inability to move the ball. Their is talent on that side of the ball but it has not shown itself the last couple of weeks. The passing game seems to be the key to getting the "box" to a managable number that the offensive line can handle. With arguable the best running back in the confrence been reduced to a blocker more than a runner, we have to get completions on the edge to open up the running lanes for the running backs. There have been a few drops but the ball has to get there and stopping getting touched by the defense. The offensive line has done a great job on pass protection and save last weeks experiment with the trap blocking, can allow ball carriers to get to the edge. I expect some quick early passing to see if the qb is going to be able to be on target and I hope that he is because I think that Jeff Co is suspect in pass defense. I hope that we will see four wide and getting the ball to the edge to set the tone early and make Jeff Co back out of the box to create runnig lanes. If that doesn't happen, I would like to see the backup qb ccome in and run some option reads with the running back and be able to go downfield off the playaction once the running game gets on track. That's what I think can win the game for Science Hill either way because they will the put points on the board and force Jeff Co to try to keep up. Science Hill defensivlely just needs to be disciplined against the veer and make the tackles. Last week, there seemed to be a lot of diviing at feet instead of inserting shoulders into the midsection of the running backs. I would like to see less of the jumping around on defense until it is passsing situations because it seems against the runs the defense tends to be on it 's heels when the ball is snapped. I love the freedom of the linebackers to move around but let the lineman get set and have a strong base to push off on. Most teams have had succes against the Toppers by running up the middle but they have had big backs and I'm not sure Jeff's backs can be as durable. I know that they have some fine ballcarriers but I think this might be the best defense that they have seen to this point as far as talent. I think the defense will have a surprise for the Patriots that might cause some difficulties early and allow the offense to get a fast start and force the Patriots to do things that they are not comfortable with doing. Special teams edge goes to Science Hill hands down. I think that the Toppers return teams will cause Jeff Co problems all night. The Toppers kickoff team has been the only concern of mine but that's because of kids unwillingness to stay in their lanes, hopefully this won't be a problem. Our punter can change field position any time he kicks and when he get's a foot into them, the height will cause a drop. Our returners are a big play waiting to happen. Science Hill is coming off two straight losses and is hungry. Jeff Co has won their last two and might be slightlly unprepared for the speed that the Toppers play at on both sides of the ball. I know I'm a homer but I like the Toppers by 10. Of course all of my opnions will have to become fact.
  16. Not pushing it off, maybe not kingsport but most were from Sullivan Co. He was an teacher but an employee of the schools system but I belive there was a middle school teacher from either blountville or bluff city.
  17. We can't keep those perverts from Kingsport away from our parks and city. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  18. To be honest with you, I have a sinus infection and I'm medicated and aggravated. I'm doing my best to try to keep my opnions about things to myself especially after friday night's disaster. I have my opnions about high school football in general andI think that the best coaches make a system that fits the parts. I also believe that with the limitations that high school football brings with time and talent you have to have a system and stick with it. If you saw any game besides last friday night, then you know that we ran a offense that has been totally different than any one saw at any point this season. I have a son that plays and this is his senior year. I have been watching these kids since the third grade, I hurt for them. Yes, it is easy to take things out of context. It would be nice to have some type of live chat so maybe things can get clarified and things don't seem so tense. I'm looking forward to this game because I really believe that what ails this team can be solved this week.
  19. Have the Patriots developed a passing game yet?
  20. I forgot who I was talking to, you know it. I'll just sit back an listen. I think when you talk about qb play in the offense that Science Hill runs and how the position is being played...you are talking about how the ball is being thrown. I do believe that you mentioned in that post about the the receivers not being able to show there talent because the ball hasn't been able to get into their hands, so which is it. Hill is the leading receiving on the team. I consider him a reciever/athlete since he has played corner, safety, receiver, quaterback and has lined up one play as running back. He did play two series at qb at Bearden. I was suprised NOT to see a call that would get him or Solomon to the edge but I don't get paid to coach. I guess you must now be following Science Hill instead of your beloved db. You do a good job of trying to stir up things. Sharp is the qb of the team. He has been since spring pratice. Hill is used as a change of pace. I think the question was about THE quarterback of the team and your response painted a inaccurate picture. I believe that reporter of the article tries to keep some type of competition for the postion that is not true.
  21. I believe QB is correct since Hill has only attempted 10 passes all year with 5 coming in the last game and 4 coming in the second game of the season.
  22. It's hard to believe that the kids are not doing what they are taught to the best of their ability. Playing DB might be the hardest position to play on a football field since your are playing back peddling and trying to react to what's going on in front of you. My opnion.
  23. Looks that way but this one is the offical with the poll.... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
