  1. I don't think he's the best. Maybe on his team being counted on so much it looks like he's better.I'm not about to take anything away from the young man.But he's been at some of the biggest camps and hasn't gotten D-1 looks and orD-2 offers.Fine player. But I base my choice especially at this level on if a kid can overcome the 1-A demon and still get to a big time school. Most times the talent overrules. And the recruiter's evaluate and offer. If a player in A-1 secures D-1 IMO he is a player worthy of consideration.

As of last friday Stat wise he is #1 in total TD'S and #1 in total yds in the state.I would ask what is Mr. Football, potential of D-1 offers or most valuable player to his team or who has the best stats or a combination of all. .Josh Blake led the stats last year in total yds and TD'S IF i'm not wrong into the first round but Grace was one and done. Also, talking offers all d-2 or small schools take longer to offer because of the process in many cases for which I have been told myself on one of my sons recruiting visits. The bigger schools will take longer with kids from smaller schools because of many resons too.The athletes from smaller schools are not as well known ect, ect, ect. My honest angle on Josh is he is going to beef up and if he gets a chance he can play D-1 either QB or slot receiver who knows.I know like I have said before they are definetly 2 of the best athletes in the state and both worthy.

  2. Old Pirate missed the SP & grace game but the replay it is easy to see both had big games. After talking to several fellers who witnessed the game, OP says this will make some mad, but player of the game goes to Josh Blake. The key to OP is this kid made plays while his team mates were outmatched. David came in and ignited the offense for sure. That said, most feel Grace is rather weak on defense and David having a huge second half doesn't surprise anybody. Fact is SP had to put in their speed guys on the DL in an effort to contain Blake. Another key to Blake being deserving is he went up against arguably the best defensive team in 1A and still had amazing results mostly on his own. SP's starting big 3 lineman did not stand a chance in capturing the fleet footed Blake.

Old Pirate will always give credit where it has been earned and looks as if OP missed a dandy performance.

    OLD PIRATE SAYS CONGRATS TO JOSH BLAKE /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Old Pirate says folks had better watch out for Mr. Blake. Perhaps OP will get another chance to see this player in action.

I could not agree with you more OP.That was a very good assessment of the game.I wasnt at the game either but I also saw a DVD replay.

  3. Josh Blake-Grace Academy leading in total yds 2337 and scoring 40td's.I could name a few teams Josh would immediately take deep into state if they could have him as there QB.I here a lot of times on coach t weakness of schedule and that does play a part with some of these athletes stats. But if you have been around football, watched the games, coached the games and see the plays these kids make it doesnt take you long to tell special talent.I have played against true div-1 players and been hit and juked by some players that went to college and had good careers.I have watched Josh play since he was 10 he is that special type player.I saw his deceptive speed when he was young but never dreamed he would turn into such a deadly accurate passer. His vision and speed and most of all poise will put him playing on saturday's. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  4. Last year Marco Dailey was Mr football in 1a and deservingly so. At the end of a 11 games last Marco stats were as follows

    rushing 1961 yds td's 25 passing 700 yds 9 td's total yds 2661 total td's 34

Josh Blake stats last year after 11 games were

rushing 908 yds 11 td's passing 1810 yd's 25 td's total yds 2718 total td's 36 Josh also played defense almost every snap last year

and was our second leading tackler I believe Marco only played offense.

Blake was ahead of Marco after 11 games in total yds and in td's Marco averaged 10 yds a carry last year and at this point this year Josh is averaging 10.8 yd's a carry. Marco went on to play 3 more games and was named Mr football and as I said deservingly so. I make this point to say that Josh was leading the state in total yards and td's at the end of regular season last year and after the first round games of the playoffs. This year I believe Josh is l

leading the state again in total yds and td's after 8 games.

Joshua's stats are a little down from last year because he has not played in the second half very much in 5 or 6 of these games.

Some may question the caliber of competion that he has played against. Grace has played three 2a teams this year and they have to play the the number one defensive team in single A in South Pitt at the end of the year who may be in the top 5 in the state over all.

Josh was an Tenn coaches association allstate selection last year and an Chattnooga all preps selection last year as a defensive back.

David Jones and Josh Blake were the only two single A players selected on the TN Varsity.com top 75 players in the state on Rivals.

Also when you compare David Jones rushing stats he has 80 carries for 662yds at 8.3yds per carry with 15td's Josh Blake's rushing stats are 79 carries for 850yds at 10.8yds per carry for 11td's not including his passing stats which were 1303yds passing and 23 passing td's

    /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  5. True in some senses...but you got to understand, if you watch all the games, many of Josh's runs are from pass plays where he has pressure. He actually avoids MANY tackles to get to the open field. Not every big run, but many. Sometimes he rolls out and the DBs choose to cover heavy and Josh has room to run. But many times the front 7/8 get to Josh and Josh has to scramble and avoid tackles to get his yards...especially against Boyd, he earned all 90+ of those yards.

I am just arguing the point that Josh should be on the ballot. I'm not saying Josh is a better athlete, but definitely deserves recognition for being on the ballot. Will I argue if they chose a David Jones over Josh...no, because he definitely deserves it, he is a GREAT athlete. Should Josh be on the ballot, heck yeah!

I could'nt agree with you more.First of all I have watched a great deal of film on both players this year and before. To say it is easier to get rushing yards from QB position is not right. When you are a teAm like SP and defenses choose to key on Jones SP can beAt you several different ways you dont win state being one dimensional on the flip side defensing grace every coach coming in goal is to pin there ears back and get tO BLAKE.If they can contain Blake they have a very good chance of winning the game. David Jones is a great athlete both sides of the ball so is Josh Blake from both sides as well both are top worthy of the ballot. : My vote is for Josh Blake you just need to compare the stats. thumb:

  6. his stats should definetly increase the next two games with Copper Basin and Whitwell... it will be intresting to see how she does again SP... How were his numbers against Boyd Buchanan... GBA's 7 weak games are really weak... and easy to put up numbers against them... could you give me a average with GBA's wins and losses... FRA is really just and average team and GBA got beat by them... Boyd is definetly above average...and SP is too... I was just wondering if he through up these numbers against awful oppenents or if he did the same against good teams... like Boyd... any info...

I would somewhat agree with you on some of the teams being weak with that said if the coaches have any kind of lead Blake is out of the game with 2 or 3 miniutes left in the 3rd quarter .For answering (1) of your questions I think he had 90 rushing and over 100 passing with 2 td's not counting how many times he was sacked which takes away from your total stats. SP only had 190 total yards of offense against BOYD.

  7. I will be real interested to see how this game turns out. I have watched the game of the week and highlights on these teams but had not seen either play live.I personally think Tyner wins this game knowing more about who they have played .I thought MCCALLIE did not look as strong as some of there teams in the past.Tyner wins by a TD

  8. Although Josh Blake is a QB his stats speek for them self.He has 12TD'S and 851 rushing yards,11.3 per carry to go along with his passing stats 20TD'S and over 1,000yds passing with 1 int it should be a no brainer to be up for MR. FOOTBALL in single A. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  9. Whopper say you must have got some of those rose colored glasses that have been for sale locally. This will be a win for the bucs, but the score will be much closser.

Well I would say with a name like Whopper and going by the recent pictures you probably could take a lot of scouting and digest it pretty easy ,but how you evaluate and come up with a close game in this I think you consumed to much and probably are feeling gas not a close game .BLOW-OUT /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  10. David may not be the fastest, but fast enough.4.5 range. His vision and ability to cut and his strength is what makes him special. He is following a tough act.Robert Robinson set a very high bar.Great runner with many records to show for his greatness.Montrell Mitchell and Kartrez Bibbs, the speedburners make 1 heck of a senior class of a backfield.

David is a really good running back but I don't believe he runs a 4.5, most teams are looking at him as a linebacker. David actually ran a 4.73 laser time at the nike combine in Atlanta, you can check that out if you go on line at SPARQ.

  11. Everybody we've played this year has tested us, they didn't just see us and say lets roll over. We have just put teams away in the second half. We need to score more in the first half when the oppurtunity presents itself. We blew to many chances against Whitwell. We had the ball on the 4 or 5 yard line twice and no points. We have not played a solid game on offence all year, when and if we do we will give Tyner and Boyd all they want. But as always, we have to stay healthy and that worries me because, we are a little small.

Your new coach has done a wonderful job so far and you will probably beat bledsoe but to think you can hang with Tyner and Boyd is more than a bit of a stretch. You guys should be proud of your team and coach but the real test are yet to come.GOOD LUCK /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  12. Our offensive line is still a question mark...our defensive line will be just a little tougher to handle

We can't kick field goals so we are in 4 down territory any time we cross the 50 yard line /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Ahhh...we did win year before last (2006) 48-0

Hey ZP, good talking to you again. As you could tell by my spelling, I was in a hurry on my post.I have been talking to the guys here at work and was just mixing it up before I truly think SP will win by a couple of scores or more.SP 42 MC 21

  13. Let me just say, that a couple of folks from the valley have fed me some info and the way they are talking the bullies from the valley are back. They said the swagger is back. They told me that they were going to exploit that offensive and defensive line all night. They also said SP can score if they dont have the ball and they would be in 4 down territory all night.SP WAS suppose to win year before last maybe it is time for another upset. Warriors 28 SP 21

  14. I agree he s a good coach...........he s turned there program into a good one as well, and he better be a big part in the 22 acres because thats what he was hired to do and thats it besides coach football. I wonder what they ll think up for him to do when it s all completed because he s not gonna teach a class....so he says lol. I still cant beleive he said what he did about LFO /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

What did he say about LFO

  15. I think it was 7 touchdowns not 6.

It's important to remember this was a scrimmage but the Eagles looked very good. On offense they were hitting on all cylinders. They scored touchdowns on every possession (7) and most times it looked easy. The defense looked good too and didn't give up a single point. Whitwell failed to get a first down on a few possessions and didn't make it across 50 on most.

My hope is Whitwell is better than the Eagles made them look. I guess this Fridays scrimmage at Grace will give us a better idea where the Eagles are right now.

But I can say Coach Price has defiantly got them playing very well at this very early stage.

Oh, there were probably 150+ people there to watch a scrimmage.

Please somebody tell me that Whitwell was playing there Jr. Varsity players.Because I was told Signal doesnt even have Seniors. I know Whitwell isnt the creme of the crop but please!!!!!!!!They are a starter program and I was thinking they were playing a Jr. Varsity schedule?????????

  16. Our middle school has beat this Webb guy the last two years and we were not very good. I think we have the right guy. We need someone who will come in here and want to stay. If Webb got the job he would run to Jasper the first chance he gets. Good luck Coach Thacker, the Tiger family is behind you.

I can remember how you have been behind your other coaches in the past and this guy is from Marion county ! All I can say is he better be above 500!!!!!!!!!

  17. All were good players and played for good coaches if I remember right. I think Barton was drafted. Good to here we got some good coaches that want to be here for a while.

Whats up with all these Marion County hires?Did they just give up on all the hometown boys? Why would you think there going to be there a while

  18. I keep up with recruiting pretty much and just thought it would be an interesting topic to see what some of the guru's thought the top 10 players were.I am familiar with a few but would really like to know some names to follow as the season gets kicked off.PLAYMAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

  19. it went well, Fulmer is saying David can try out for any position he wants... no offer yet but id say its on its way lol Auburn is hot on his trail also.... so is Vandy....I peronally think he will be in Orange...

He looks to be a good prospect I am a big orange fan myself.I hope he gives a verbal I sure enjoyed watching Eddie moore as a vol.I also keep up thru all of the message boards and vol web sites and I have not seen where Fulmer says anything about a possible offer I think thats against the rules until the recruit signs the letter of intent.Where did you get your info from
