  1. AA Mr Basketball convo should begin and end with Braxton Blackwell.

Braxton is at Oak Hill Academy. And he goes by the name Braxton Key now, apparently. He recently committed to Alabama.

  2. I will have to stick with my original prediction. MC/Cascade battle for second and the rest just beat up on each other.  Cascade pulled one out tonight at GC.  GC shot themselves in the foot. Up 10 with less than 4 mins to go, no need to shoot 3s when you don't shoot them well to begin with.  Champions got some game, if cpa held them to 18, its going to be ugly every game they play, unless they start using some 8th graders. Tough loss CATS,  heads up and take care of the ball.

  3. I wonder what kind of conversation they had with the kid from Iowa?  I guarantee you there was more than one flight to Des Moines to garner his services!   But CPA doesn't recruit..... no sir they would never do that, kids just magically show up there and amazingly enough they are good athletes!  What a coincidence.... :popcorneater:

No, they don't magically show up, their parents apply and enroll them at CPA. Yes, some of them are exceptional athletes.

I've watched CPA over the years and you've had plenty of them on scholarship there and you know it...

I did not know this. This would be a major TSSAA violation, and since you've watched CPA over the years, I have no choice but to believe you and trust that you are either the parent of "plenty of them" or you work in the accounting office at CPA.

I know for a fact they recruit. I was personally approached by CPA "backers" to bring my son to play for them so if I was you i would just keep my mouth shut since you have no idea what you're talking about.

I guess the kid that showed up from Iowa to play basketball just happen to drive by CPA and liked the school? Very few of the kids that go to CPA actually live close to the school. the best players on the team are absolutely recruited from other school districts so don't insult our intelligence by claiming CPA a private school does not recruit that's just asinine

You sure seem to talk in absolutes a lot about a school and community that you obviously know very little about. Using strong language doesn't make your skewed assumptions true. I'm all for free speech, but this is libel.

  4. I think typical CPA people would not be wasting their time on this board. You see the atypical CPA folk posting here :)

And we have been nothing but nice to Alcoa fans talking about football. The Alcoa supporters have been great also.

Both teams have had posters jump in and attack us because they have been hurt in some way. It's a little distracting at times but for the most part we are all just counting down time until tomorrow where the two best 3a teams will play their hearts out.

See you afterward in basketball. I look forward to hear how we are cheating by letting an 8th grader start on the varsity team who lived in Iowa last year.

    Ain't that the truth!

The more of your posts that I've read, the more I'm reminded of my Intro to Pyschology class freshman year.

How on earth could you know this? I went to CPA and lived 2 miles away. Some people here seem to be having trouble understanding the concept of a private school. CPA does not have a discrict, so every single student is from "other school districts."

  7. David Lipscomb (1998 and 2003 back when they were a state power, but we got revenge in 2004).

Goodpasture in 2001 (but we've won the other 6 against against them), and

Brentwood Academy in the 1988 Clinic Bowl (but we got our revenge one year later in the 1989 Clinic Bowl)

Thanks. Well, I hope that one day, (if not by the end of this week), Alcoa will need to seek revenge against CPA. Only losing to 1 private since '01 says alot about Alcoa.

Actually CPA fans and Alcoa fans are getting along pretty well. Some of the other school fans.....not so much.

    I've noticed that. How refreshing!

  8. CPA boys were not "upset" in the 2014 semis...they were beaten by a team who was better that night...give a little respect to Jackson South Side...

How is that not giving them respect? They beat a team in CPA that was the 2-time defending champion, who just about everybody was picking to roll their way to a 3rd. JSS won, so it goes without saying that they were the better team that night. If you read my final post in the CPA vs. JSS thread, you would see that I went above and beyond to show them respect. Getting a little nitpicky there cofo...

  9. There was way too much scrolling required on the last one. OK, CoachT fans from the team behind at half buys one corndog at halftime for one other team's CoachT fans. Deal?? The more of us that meet, the more free corndogs. C'mon, Coach, Matt, Robjim and others - back me up on this.

Great idea, and I'd totally be down, but unfortunately I won't be able to attend. I'll see If I can send a surrogate.

  10. Didnt your boys lose the second attempt last season? Thats not really back to back... back to back is boy win one then next year win 2.... not girls win one then Boys or vice versa

Boys and girls won in '12 & '13, Boys were upset in the semifinals in '14. Thank you for explaining to me what back to back means.

  11. I have never said hat Martin recruits, all I have ever said that privates have an unfair advantage in getting players. Hockaday is a transfer as he was at a different school then came to CPA to play in High School. Do you know how many new player we got at the start of their HS? NONE. As a matter of fact I would love to have had Hockaday on our team last year during our game and believe that he would have been difference turning the game in our favor. One, two and for sure three players DOES make a difference (whether they come in the 7th, 8th, 9th or some other time during HS) and contrary to what you say you get them and we don't.

If players were starting HS, then all of them were new, where they not? CPA has desks to fill too, but they don't have a zoned area to pull students from. I'm not privy to the admissions process, but they pretty much have to take in transfers. It is a private school, not a charity, and they want/need students to replace those who leave, and not to mention that 15k in tuition that comes with each student. In the past few years they have been able to admit a greater number of students, thanks to the new high school building and the extra space it provides. Publics and privates are apples and oranges in regards to how they get students, we all know this. The bitterness towards CPA and it's athletes has only come with winning, just like the hate that Alcoa has gotten since years prior, this is nothing new.
