To be perfectly honest --
I hope they both lose.
I'd give anything to see a good ol' 11-6 game, or something along those lines. Who wouldn't love to see these two teams combine to shoot about 2 percent from the floor?
If I absolutely HAVE to cheer for one team over another....I'd have to go with the Tigers. At least they aren't a Class AA refugee. But whoever wins, I REALLY hope they get what's coming to them in their first game in Murfreesboro.
Forget Middleton's gym not being big enough to hold the fans from both teams. That gym isn't big enough to hold Union City and Middleton's collective ego....but then again, neither is Neyland Stadium.

officials can cost you a game. if your team has 4 players in foul trouble before the second quarter, and the other team is in the bonus. and they have been shooting fouls shots and have not shot an outside shot or did a lay up. now if they are not shooting outside shots and not even getting a lay up, but they are managing to go to the freethrow line from one quarter to the next. who fault would you say it is.
because if your team can't drive in without getting a foul, but the other team can. would you say something smells fishy. because your team is playing defense if the other team can't get a shot off. now days you are having to play 8 people instead of 5. the refs should call it even and straight down the line. because if you are unsure about a call then you should not blow the whistle and come up with something.
Still not the officials fault! Learn how not to foul! Officials have never caused a team to lose, for every one bad call ther are at least 10 turnovers or bad decisions made. Dont use the referees as a crutch for your teams loss. The team and coach must take responsibility and do what it takes to get better. I f you think the officiating is SO BAAAAAD! Then get a whistle and start working games. Do this for about 5 to 10 years. As each year passes by your view and ideas will be much, much different. Enough said!

Who was region MVP???
Duh! Everyone knows that the regional tourney MVP at trenton was, you guessed it TALL ABOUT 6'5'', WHITE, BALD AND CARRIES A WHISTLE IN HIS MOUTH THAT GOES OFF VERY, VERY, VERRRRRY FREQUENTLY FOR UNKNOWN REASONS WITH BOTH TEAMS LOOKING AROUND TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IN THE HADES IS GOIN ON. No joke this man affected the game more than any other individual on the court. He was impartial but definitely affected the game!

On official has never cost any team a win! For every one bad call there are at least ten things that the losing team could have done better to help them win the game! The coach and players need to concentrate on what they can do to change the out come of the game not what the official can do. Two of the best girls coaches in the state rarely speak to an official during the game. (Randy Frazier and David Russell) You wont change an officials mind, nor will you influence their decisions. Cheer for team let the stripes do their job.

for the record, lc was given an amount of tickets and had to send half of them back because they couldn't sell them. and you cannot show up at any game with that much importance 10 minutes before tipoff and expect a good seat or parking space. spare me the crying. isn't it time for football practice?
Smart ALeck Comments like that is what keeps the hate going. If your parking lot and gymn held more than ten cars like most gymns in the state than it wouldnt be a problem. I tried to be polite but your jerky comments raised my irk!! Your administration should have warned us with urgency that it would be a problem but continue with the comments you'll never know what it is like to be good in two sports!!! O wait three if you count girls basketball also!! Now, go back and crawl under your rock on the mississippi line or if you like try to be more polite and I will turn down the mean as well.

Don't put all Middleton fans in the same bracket. We love our basketball and the reason there is so much dislike between us and Lake County started last year when all they could do is make fun of our gym and school. We have no control over the size of our gym, and when someone puts down where you are from you automatically start talking smack. I'm not saying it was right, but your fans started it last year. We are very proud of our school and our team, and like everyone else want them to do good. We have never gotten any respect from the AP polls because we are a small town, and we feel like we have to proove ourselves over and over again. Congratulations on a great year and remember all Middleton fans are not bad.
Sounds like we got a lot in common -small town, no respect, etc . etc. -the problem with gymn begins with the fact that more tickets and seating should have been reserved for LC fans as well as some type of info on the horrid parking conditions. If we ever have to go back to middleton I will definitely be there at least one hour maybe 2 before gametime. The biggest problem was only having barely 1/4 of the seating for a much larger portion of the crowd. That is unfair for the fans that bought tickets and traveled to the game. If you come to Lake County half the gymn will be yours! Anyway, it seems that our likenesses need to pull us together and not apart it just seemed to be some sour feelings of not being able to enjoy a great game last because of seating!

Here is a question. Why does everyone hate district 14a? Answer because they think this is the only district in the state and everybody in the district should be in the Single A top ten. District 14a has given the west a bad reputation. The only team to win a gold ball in the last 15 years is UC. UC has the right to talk a little smack. So people let's quit talking about district 14a until they win another gold ball.

West Carroll hung in for awhile they should have been leading at the half but it was bad officating. They called a walk when the west carroll did a pro hop now you tell me who you think should have won.
LC palyed their 2nd and 3rd teams almost three fourths of the night and won by 16!!! At one point in the 3rd with the a team they ran it up to almost 30. Then Coach Whitby called the dogs off. Now you tell me WHO SHOULD HAVE WON!!!!!
WC left their starters in until 2 minutes in the game to go!!!

All I have to say that do not count out Union City since lake county wont the district title. It will be a slobber knocker. If Lake County comes out hot they have a chance but if they look how they did last nite against West Carroll it will be a long nite but if Union City plays how they did against Humboldt it will be a long nite I just hope that they both are on and it is a good and exciting game all I have to say to the players is "WIN OR GO HOME"
Dont down anybody on this topic encourage everyone to come out and see a rivalry game.
Also, if UC plays the way they did last night it will be over for them!!! It seems that both teams were looking ahead to the tough region semifinal game. Both teams missed a lot of easy shots and let a lot of shots go uncontested!! I look for both teams to bring it and put a show on TELL THE POSSEE TO GET THERE EARLY FOR SEATS ON THE BLEACHERS ON THE FLOOR!!!!!

there has been a change in west tennessee basketball. Have you heard of a team that is called union city. They won state in AA more than once in the 90's. And humboldt move down from AA also. They went to state last year. And probley one of the best coachs in the state regardless of A AA or AAA in jim witby is at lake county. That is why i'm so confident in that west will rise in state tournment competition this year and for years to come also. The talent level is higher over hear. Even bruce pearl said that he is goin to look harder in west tennessee for players than east or middle. Plus he was at the Brentwood Bolivar game at jackson tennessee. Dont get me wrong but that is a long way from knoxville to see a high school game. So you can count some chickens are do what ever you do over there and see the best talent and teams that come to mtsu form west tennessee. PEACE!!!!

I agree. I'm sure he isn't playing, but even if he does, I'm still going with LC in a close one.
Union City & Halls shouldn't be counted completely out, but why did Union City beat Halls so badly without Weddle? I heard X really stepped up, but did Halls just not show or what?
It may be Union City & McKenzie. I'm not counting on it, but you never know...
While watching the game it seemed that the halls boys kinda just stayed on the bus. I saw UC halls early in the year and halls almost and should hae beaten UC twice. They quite going inside to the big boy. It seems that as the year goes on instead of getting better this year halls has gotten worse by going away from the gameplan of the big boy being unstoppabel and jacking up threes. Halls shot themselves out of two wins against UC in the regular season and then didnt show up at the district tourney!

how about you guys come over here and play in our region for awile. Lake County, Humbolt, Union City, and thats in one district. Be for real for just a moment, get your head out of the mountains, and quit smoking whatever your on! You would be lucky to get to the region tourney, considering the defending runner up is sitting at home hosting our region tourney. When your ready, get you a little taste of west tennessee basketball. Oh and 2 of these 3 will play for the state championship! Enjoy watching tha championship game

All of you need to remember that four out of the ap top 10 come from one region in single a and three of those from one district. Then you have another wtn team in the top ten in middleton. So 50 percent of the top ten comes from wtn in single a (only 1/3 of the state). So it seems to me by this that the wtn teams not only have a better chance at state but they also have the toughest road to the title!

They are a decent team coached by Mike Greer who used to be at OCCHS .. Way too many weapons for Lake Co. though as the Falcons should have no trouble in this opening round game and a possible matchup with Union City in round 2

Now the probelm is in reply to this quote, 90 percent of the time half the people will say that the officials were pretty good, the other half will say pretty bad. It is the nature of two sides against each other. The losing team has a bad point of view, the winning a good point of view. Most of the time when someone complains about officiating, it is after their team loses. Go watch a game that you have no bias in and pay attention to the officials. Your view of officiating may change.
