  1. Clarkrange looked pretty dang good last night as they defeated Forest going away.

Greenfield, Red Boiling Springs, Forest, Summertown, all in the mix. (Jackson County could offer some surprises but will not make it to the boro...)

    A Clarkrange

Obion Co, Upperman, Austin East, Stone Memorial (new school in Cumberland Co), Northside, Harpeth are teams that will definately be playing in late Feb and early March. It's definately wide open....

    AA Upperman

Wilson Central is definately the favorite even with a loss last night to the University of Riverdale. Shelbyville, Cleveland, Riverdale, Mt Juliet, will all compete. Could be some sleepers out there though....

    AAA Wilson Central

    DII Knoxville Webb ..........enough said.

I agree with AA, don't have enough about AAA for an opinion. But in Single A, I predict that (Jackson County could offer some surprises and MAKE it to the Boro).

Can't wait for the season to start, GOOD LUCK AND HEALTH TO ALL!

  2. Richland won all 3 going away against USN, Cascade and Warren County. None of the 3 were great teams, but all 3 played hard. Richland played without 2 starters the entire day. The best part of Richland's play all weekend was that the coach played everyone, tried different rotations, tried numerous defenses, worked on new plays, and made adjustments well. If the injury bug will get out of our camp, we will be ok.

Red Boling Springs lost to Independance (SP) by around 12 and beat Coffee County going away. They also played Franklin County and I did not see that game. I heard that Franklin County won but I am not sure.

Wilson Central looked good in the game I saw them play, as did Siegel.

So far this year I have seen a few teams that really stand out. Those are Collinwood, Summertown, Upperman, Siegel, and Wilson Central.

I had previous counted Jackson County out of the top 2 spots in D7A. After watching play this weekend, I believe they will be in the mix.

By far the best overall district in 1a basketball is D12. No doubt.

Coach Brown of Jackson County is Slick as a ribbon.
  3. I'm just wondering what each region looks like as far as the top 4 teams in each region based on the regional tournament. Also, what top players will be returning for this year.

Single A returns Jackson County state runner-up starters Courtney Dyer, Misty Maxwell and Paige Sevier, Jim Brown is still head coach, everybody says they are down this year but that (sounds like a good start to me). RBS Returns everyone except 1 starter and has the Freshman post Laken Leonard (Sounds Scarry), and Clarkrange I beleive returned several starters or first sub players and still has Lamar rogers and of course Forrest who upset Jackson County in the state championship by 1 point in over-time returns their entire team. I think this will be a much more exciting year for this classification than others predict.

  4. You know it...Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs... :thumb: .... ....

Well being serious I do believe we have as good a shot as any...We return the core of our team...I believe if we can stay healthy and play together as a team we are one of the best...But we all know sparks can fly and even the best team can have it's down fall...If RBS can stay healthy and focused...they can win it...

I do love RBS wish them the best (HONEST), but stay focused, no matter what the predictions are, Jackson County does still have a girls basketball team. And as far as I know Jim Brown is still head coach. Lets keep things calm for now.
  5. Clarkrange had a great summer. The young players have really stepped up into their new roles. Jessica Green is the lone Senior on the team and she has really become a leader. She knows her role. Tori Lowe has looked really good. They could win the district this year.

Not hearing much on Jackson County? Anything new going on? What kind of summer did they have? Same for Clay Co.?????

From what I understand Jackson County is in SAD SAD Shape. They only have 2 returning starters, and their first sub from last year, And a little young group that have been playing together since about 4th grade and Jim Brown is still the head coach, It is looking like a slow SAD year for them. Don't be worring about preparing for those games, they are just a bunch of short, inexperienced little girls.

  6. Elizabethton played Jackson County this morning at the MTSU camp and won 46-26. Jackson County stayed within shouting distance of the Cyclones through the first half trailing by only 5. EHS pulled away in the third quarter. JC has some shooters and they play very disciplined and hard, but no size. JC had a number of fans at the game and I would be interested to hear their take on it and the cyclones.

And for Coachh17: JV made it a sweep of Jackson Co this morning winning by 3, playing with seven on JV (no cross-overs from varisty). Varsity played the nine returning from last year. The tenth (CC) is out with a knee injury.

I was not at this game or camp, but, I do know that Coach Brown plays mostly 11 and 12 year olds on his JV team (last years 6th and 7th graders). As for Varsity I've heard that they are short and inexperienced, but what I know is that return 2 starters, one of which was last year Regional MVP, and One senior that got as much playing time as anybody on the team last year. As for the rest it remains to be seem But once again I would like to add that I do know that they are a group that Coach Brown has worked with since about age 9. I wouldn't get overly excited about camp play if I were you.

  7. Just to Clarify: JACKSON COUNTY FANS ARE EXTREMELY PROUD OF THEIR SILVER BALL THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!! AS WOULD ANY OTHER TEAM BE! ADD ANOTHER BANNER TO THE GYM WALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND, RBS, CLARKRANGE AND FORREST HAD BETTER BE AT THE TOP OF THEIR GAME NEXT YEAR BECAUSE JACKSON COUNTY WILL BE BACK (WITH COACH JIM BROWN) IT WILL BE ANOTHER YEAR, A DIFFERENT GAME AND A VENGENCE TO ADD ANOTHER BANNER AND TROPHY TO THE COLLECTION!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LADY BLUE DEVILS AND CAN'T WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR

  8. THE AREA KINDERGARTEN CLASSES DONATE GLITTER FOR THE (BIG GIRLS) HAIR TO MAKE IT (PRETTY) DURING THEIR (IMPORTANT) GAMES. tHIS MAKES THE KINDERGARTER'S (HELPERS) IN THE (IMPORTANT) GAMES WHEN THEY SEE THE (BIG GIRLS) PLAY THE 5 YEAR OLD REMEMBERS HOW (SPECIAL) THEIR (GIFT) IS. ITS A COUNTY TRADITION, THAT HAS BEEN ENJOYED FOR MANY YEARS. ITS A LITTLE GLITTER IN A TEEN AGE GIRLS HAIR, I SUSPECT SOME OF YOU ARE JUST UPSET BECAUSE YOU WISH YOU HAD SOME GLITTER TO MAKE YOUR HAIR PRETTY!

  9. One of my students had to go to the Emergency Room a few years ago because some of that glitter got in her eye. The girl's game is too physical to allow something like that to be worn while out on the court. TSSAA has banned a lot more things with less harm than that. The girls are there to play ball, not look like Brittney Spears.

You thought the Lady Blue Devils looked like Brittany Spears??? Obviously you know nothing about these girls or Coach Brown!

  10. This is a post about the 06-07 year which is when both of these players will be freshmen. You cannot discuss next year and not talk about these two players. There is nothing wrong with the statement I made because some Jackson County fans believe that just because Kayci is coming up they will win because they don't think anyone can stop someone of her size. I was pointing out that their statements are false considering players, mainly Laken, who are 7 to 8 inches shorter then Kayci has handled her several times. She can be contained, just as Leonard can. I've seen both play numerous times in AAU and have been told all about some of their battles on the middle school court. Their middle school career is over and if you don't believe that there will be many debates about these two, then you are badly mistaken. Both girls are future Division I prospects and the comparisons are going to happen. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but the statement is a true one and it shows that just because Jackson County has someone that is 6'6" or 6'7" coming up doesn't mean they'll win the gold ball (though they do have a very BIG advantage). Again, sorry if I ruffled any feathers.

The most accurate thing about opinions is that Everybodys Got One!

That appears to fit the schedule. I got the schedule from the state website. Last year line up may not be the same as this years, as you have indicated.

HEY... A word of advice, don't bet the farm on anything that depends on teenagers, they are toooooo unpredictable. But it will be fun to see how it all works out.

  12. The flu problem is better. I do think everyone should heed to warnings that, if you are sick to stay in. The problem is scheduling. Both teams are so late in the season, games get hard to make up.

You think my signature is a joke??? Sorry you feel that way. What's your problem with it? Just curious?

Don't mean to butt in, But, I think he was referring to his own signature, did you read it?

GOOD LUCK TO THE LADY BLUE DEVILS, TONIGHT MAKE IT A CLEAN SWEEP AND TOMORROW NIGHT A BIG WIN TO CLEAR UP THE RECORD! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
