  1. Congrats to a high powered offense that is eye candy to the fans. Halls can score points but oh how to stop the opposition. I expect a big playoff win for the Red Devils long overdue for us faithful. 45-40 or there about. Great year Red Devils let keep the parade going.

  2. Wow! Great game Halls. I am really proud of this team spirit. The defense looks like the Red Devils of old and the offense is lightening it up through the air. What a breath of fresh air and it brought back great memories from the past. Keep it up Coach Overton!

As I watched the game on TV I didn't realize Mark Packer was a ex Red Devil. Good for him.

  3. How did Curt Bureau do this year?

Curt had a great year. At first everyone feared he wouldn't be back for his senior year due to his injury but he worked hard and did a turnaround which positioned Cumberland to attain one of their best records in many years. Good luck for the future Curt. :thumb:

  4. Congratulations to the University of the Cumberlands. A well prepared team that had a very exciting offense. The big plays closed the deal. Scary thing is they are mostly young underclassmen. By far the best team I've seen this year.

For us it's time to reflect and consider the future. We now know what is going to take if we desire for a ring next year. But a 8-3 year was one of our best and we will miss you Seniors you were great.

  5. Seeing we are in the Knox Halls classification forum and not the single A west Tennessee Halls one. Also, this poster seems to be active mainly on the Halls district opponent threads so I assume he means Knoxville Halls.

I just can't see KJ stepping down or being fired. Many insiders at Halls have noted all this is a rumor and nothing more. But it concerns me that this continues to run like wildfire.

  6. 8-2 Cumberland U travels to Williamsburg KY to take on the 6-3 U of cumberlands

Saturday 11-13-10 at 12:30 E.s.T. Both teams stand at 4-1 in the MSC West and this game

will be for the MSC West crown and a auto post season playoff spot.

Big game for both schools Cumberland University ranked 17th hopefully will take care of business. U of Cumberlands well coached and usually doesn't make too many errors. I think Cumberland U(TN) defense will hold U of Cumberlands offense and I believe it will ultimately come down to special teams with which both schools have great punters & punt returners. For some reason I think this may be a low scoring affair.

I'll go out on a limb and say Cumberland(TN) 17-14 as Jared White deceides it.

Good luck to the Knox Halls boyz. :thumb:

  7. Don't believe everything you hear from "reliable sources", ZCAR. There are way too many reliable sources out there, and none of them seem to have a clue.

I suppose your right. I just hate to see a young gifted athlete not participate. But time will tell. Still good luck to the Panther nation. :thumb:

  8. It's time that the "silent majority" drop the silent part. I'm for Soddy Daisy and all other schools who have the dedication to pray in public. All of us need to encourage our local schools to do the same. If everyone is doing it, it's going to be much more difficult for these disruptive civil rights groups to infringe on OUR rights more than they already have. LETS STAND TOGETHER and do what we know is right. It's time for us to stand up as CHRISTIANS!

Excellent post. We have been too silent for far too long. Apathy has and will take away our freedoms until we wake up one day and wonder were did this great nation go too.

I am proud of Soddy Daisy and all other schools that take this stand.

  9. I talked to a few people "in the know" at the game on Friday night, and there wasn't a single one of them who thought Mobley would be suited up for the remainder of the playoffs. I'm sure HTV has some info, but he's been pretty tight-lipped about it, which I completely understand.

Ultimately, it is still a coach/administrative decision, but I just don't see how/why he actually gets a second chance this season. A lot of fans were talking about it at Friday night's game, and almost everyone I talked to believes he needs to sit out the rest of the year, pay his due, and get mentally ready for another chance to prove himself next season.

I hear from a fairly reliable source this could be Mobley's last absentee game. If the Panthers beat AC this week he may be able to suit up for the next game if the Coach/Administration so desires. Something about a 14 day rule. However, Powell needs to forget about this distraction and concentrate on the Mavs. Everything will work out the way it should. :thumb:

  10. Oak Ridge, Powell, Hardin Valley, and Central will all be pretty talented next year. Anderson County has to replace Williams, but they should still be pretty good. Clinton will also be better. I don't know very much about the personnel that Karns and Campbell County will return, but I just don't see Halls being better than these other 6, from a talent perspective.

    Agreed.

When Campbell County & Karns defeated us I saw a disturbing situation brewing for the next year. The scariest part is we look pretty small and slow. We normally take our better players and they have to do multiple tasks so they are more open for injury.

I don't think anyone will envy KJ's job next year. We will have to be patient and hope the ball bounces our way to get results.

  11. The main debate now is were do we go from here?

I think and I hope I am proven 100% wrong. Next year will not be whirlwind turnaround either. Heck this district is tough as nails and most programs aren't losing a whole lot of talent. We may be similar to UT the youth will have to step up big time. I just didn't see much speed from this group on either side of the ball. How are the freshamn stacking up and can they provide needed support?

  12. The above post is total bull, you don't know any more than anyone else or you would tell...and no one cares about Halls...they are not in the playoffs.

I wouldn't say thats completely true but I know the context your trying to get across.

The system generally works give it time.

  13. That was a GREAT game. But I think the score was 38-30. Turner got hurt and Dowdy played in the 2nd half if I'm not mistaken. Wesley Kitts and Dayton were nearly unstoppable. Burnette did a great job for Maryville getting away from consistently good pressure and delivering some critical strikes for them.

Yep your absolutely right Diver my mistake. Some great games that year the West game comes to mind as a great comeback and so was the Cleveland game in the playoffs. Wonder how Kitts Dayton & Dowdy are getting along in the college ranks? Dowdy's years was cut way to short for me due to playing behind Turner then the SUV wreck.

There again Burnette a Halls kid comes up. Minus Burnette for Maryville that night that game may have been ours. Funny how things develop over time. My guess if that season was time warped into the seventies and eighties all our homegrown players would have been available and deeper run into the playoffs could have been possible. But we will never know for sure.

  14. I'm glad KJ is staying. He still needs to make some changes in assistants and perhaps that's in the works. He knows his defensive stuff but he needs help in the offensive department, and I don't necessarily mean that the Wing T needs to be scrapped. Like others have pointed out previously, we ran the Wing T when Julian first started and Coach Ward's help was invaluable then. It showed when he left. Halls needs that type of offensive mind to be successful.

Good post. I'm glad the whispers were not correct. I am hopeful for a new offense myself. I know it will come eventually. The Wing-t isn't a bad offense in itself but a decades worth of frustration may tell some tales for our program.

A good observation on Coach Ward he used his offensive weapons to the best of their ability. You could say he was a little sneaky about it. I think his best coached game was the Halls Maryville at Maryville. We actually scared the beejeebees out of some of the Rebs parents I know. 30-22 I think it ended up. Most teams don't play toe to toe at their place. When you have balance you will make the playoffs.

  15. What are your alls predictions for tommorrows game?

I still think this could be a close one. But all the whispers and rumours may be the undoing of Halls on this one. These are the hard luck kids. I'm still a big fan and appreciate all the work ethic from both kids and coaches. For some reason things haven't worked out like they could have. If push came to shove I'd give the Bobcats the edge because of their offense. If fortune was to shine on Halls that would be great. But my pick Bobcats 24 Red Devils 17

BtgoG hold on to those thoughts untill after this game and developments begin to reveal themselves. I agree on almost all aspects of your last post but I want to hesitate and defer until early next week before making any comments.

  16. I'm hearing the same thing ZCAR.

I like Kevin a lot and wish him the best.

I do too. It just leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.

It's been the offense that has had me troubled since 2008. But as a head coach you bare the full brunt of criticism. I think a total rethink will now be addressed and hopefully we close the back gate again and keep our athletes home.

  17. Since you're sad I'm guessing I will be too if it means Julian is leaving. I haven't heard any rumors lately different from those I've heard for the last 5 weeks or so which were way too early to have any credibility. What's the word today if you don't mind saying? If you don't want to say I understand that too and, of course, time will tell.

Yes I can't say this is a good thing. But you have the right train of thought. KJ was a great defensive guru and will be sorely missed if in fact these whispers are true.

  18. Good to see some old friends back on the board.

4-6,4-6,0-10? The trend isn't our friend.

Maybe I'm watching to much CNBC instead of ESPN but this trend isn't Halls like. Time for Bernancke to stimulate things. Free RC's and moonpies for all Red Devils.

  19. I'm like you ZCAR - still rootin for these boys. I sure hope they get their first win tomorrow night. Any news on if Long will be back to play??? Heard that boy has had another injury on top of the one he had. Sure hope he heals up fast, sure do need him. Anyway, GOOD LUCK DEVILS!

He has been playing while carrying injuries for some time. The Karns game about did him in. I'm not sure about tonight it may be a gametime deceison but I somehow doubt it. We will miss him he he doesn't get to play but I have this warm fuzzy feeling Coffman, Brown, Delaney & co. will see this one through.

    Go get them boyz. :thumb:
